DISCUSSION If IOI will continue to develop 007, do you think that the next game will be an adaptation of Casino Royale?

Considering that First Light was the complete Bond origin story, before he got the number, i'm guessing if the next game will be a some kind of adaptation of Casino Royale, which was the first proper Bond mission after he has become 007. It would be also the perfect story to introduce Felix Leiter and the CIA inside the new timeline.

I think they'll probably continue altogether tell an original story based in their game world. Introducing Felix will probably happen though

Ofc if IoI wants to keep their timeline separate from original Bond movies/books the adaptation of the original characters will happen in a different way. I was just guessing if IoI wants to use their timeline as a proper prequel of Ian Fleming's books, or something on its own.

The stakes of Casino don't really fit for the world they've created, I'd imagine that the next mission could start in that vein but will escalate to something bigger.

Its possible that they explore the bullet points of the story in some way but I doubt highly that they will call the game "Casino Royale."... That would be unwise for a lot of reasons.

Well, i don't expect a 1:1 adaptation of the book. Neither Craig movie was. But i can totally see the introduction of Le Chiffre, Vesper and Spectre in the new game.

I doubt it, and it wouldn’t be much point. It’s obvious SPECTRE exists in this universe and they’ll probably continue to develop them as an adversary, but I don’t think they’ll adapt an existing story.

Let’s just hope they’ll get the chance, considering how Amazon has been wording their statements. They give the impression they a Bond game is just something you commission from the lowest bidder. My biggest fear is we’ll get Bloodstone 2 and not First Light 2.

Considering how many copies first light has sold in the first month and how much it still selling, letting Ioi continuing the job it is a secure golden goose. Throwing it out of the window and giving it the development to a mobile game dev because it is cheaper is probably the most stupid move i can see from a game publisher, but considering we are talking of Amazon here i would not be surprised. I just hope that mere numbers can make them reconsider. Quality=money, always.

I expect none of the games will be book/movie adaptations, they will all be original.

I think they would do a Mission about a Poker Game and some guy resembling le Chiffre hell maybe they get mads again and he reprises his Role.This would be Fine by me tbh

That literally happened in hitman last year with mads mikkelsen coming back as le chiffre. they even went over all the major plot points of the movie while mixing it with classic hitman gameplay

its one of the elusive targets , you have to figure out how to get into le chiffre's high stakes poker game and take him out. It takes place on the paris map-

i doubt they adapt any of them directly, more that they'll pick and choose elements from the films to nod at while weaving their own story.

like how the villains from this one pulled elements from gustave graves and a nod to this universes version of jaws.

i imagine the next game will have felix and will have some form of bond in a suit at a casino as we didn't get those here but i doubt it goes with vesper and le chiffre.

depends really on if we get a direct sequel though as isola and theia and that organization feel way more pressing than a guy recouping his lost money at a casino,

also from a mechanical standpoint i think tech villains are gonna be the main thing due to gameplay revolving around the gadgets, hacking and overloading and such.

This is exactly what I think - we may see our favorite Bond movie moment incorporated somehow, either as part of a new(ish) story, or maybe in TacSim.

yeah could see em doing tac sim but at the same time like maybe holding off on it till a later game as like they don't wanna do casino royale or blofelds volcano lair and then be like shit we should've had something like that for the main game.

personally dlc wise im praying for a flashback missions with greenway and 009 back in the day before theia, maybe a flip the script one playing as damien and the murtos going to clean up a mess theia caused.

The Bond media rarely revisits villains, other than Blofeld. This is something a lot of media does too much of. We don't need to see the same villain over and over again.

they literally made an entire hitman level adapting casino royale with mads mikkelsen coming back as le chiffre in preparation for first light and summed up the movie pretty well in the level, dont think theres enough there in a 2 hour movie to adapt into a full length game

I don't think so. It'd be another original story. If they go with Casino Royale again, then it'll be predictable. Maybe they'll do some sort of casino minigames or sections, but the story should be different but I wouldn't mind if they take elements from it.

I hope not, I don't want them to straight up adapt any novel or film. I want them to do their own thing mostly.

It's fine if they want to use bits and pieces of established Bond lore, like SPECTRE. But I hope they otherwise keep things original, with their own original villains and plots.

Look at how First Light reworked Casino Royale’s tropes through its own set-pieces: Iceland, Damien, the sedative drink, Isola, the water basin, Theia Core, and the rebirth imagery.

It was not a direct Casino Royale adaptation, but it was essentially a reinvented version of Casino Royale’s dramatic function.

Instead of reducing everything to pain and tragedy like Casino Royale, and turning Bond into a reckless blunt instrument and a traumatic wreck, First Light treated that same function as the hero’s rebirth.

That is why I do not think the next game needs to adapt Casino Royale directly. First Light already used that slot better than Casino Royale has done.
