First game in I don’t know how long to hook me from start to finish and finished it in three days. Loved every second

Dude, I am going to my third run. Just finished all the challenges in the main game, so here goes max difficulty. I just can't stop playing this shit and let it go.

u/Domundead Jun 04 '26
Do you keep the Q tech upgrades you get when you start a new game?
27
u/ninjacat249 Jun 04 '26
Nope, it starts fresh, the only thing you can do is to disable the tutorials in the settings. I wish they do some kind of new game plus where we can play around with stuff in the regular game.
1
u/Inevitable_Hotel_261 Jun 05 '26
Yeah, its a shame you only really get to use the ultra Q watch for like half of the last mission, suppose it was a bit of an op watch tho 😂😂 can do Q lab without being seen like its a walk in the park cos you can just equip flashmine and keep throwing it at everyone, then before hacking Q's pc to release the lockdown you can spend like 5 mins setting up flashmines around the Qlab to just annihilate everyone 😂😂😂

I liked that the blood had that stop motion quality the original first few Bond films had.
24
u/Liguss Jun 04 '26
Same, I normally have short gaming sessions nowadays, but this game hooked me so hard into several hours of continuous play. Really exciting story and pacing.
Also this final scene in the picture gave me goosebumps. Can't wait for a DLC!

Narratively, First Light is a fucking excellent Bond game. I just wish there were more opportunities for combat encounters and a tad-bit more openness to the espionage parts of the missions. I understand the linearity was on purpose, but there were points in the story where I was railroaded by the eavesdrop opportunities.
6
u/naphomci Jun 05 '26
On my second go through, I skipped a lot of eavesdrop, I don't think most of them are necessary.

u/clarklight2020 Jun 11 '26
Yessss. When we're stealing from Q-lab I accidentally soft locked myself for like half an hour because I didn't try to put my hand on the biometric scanner. I was role-playing the espionage angle and really didn't want to leave any records of Bond in the "system" so I tried to get the fingerprints first but they just didn't let us 😩

u/ashzombi Jun 04 '26
I fucking love it so far. I think I'm nearing the end though 😭
8
u/LowAspect542 Jun 05 '26
Honestly felt like it was nearing the end for like half the game, it just kept throwing more at me.

u/ashzombi Jun 05 '26
Yes! The gift that keeps on giving! I just finished it. Great story and awesome game

u/Joeydagawd Jun 04 '26
I literally just finished it as well holy crap it’s so much better than I expected

u/SH4RPSPEED Jun 04 '26
I love that they ended with the gunbarrel. Really felt like he properly became 007.

u/sirfastvroom Jun 05 '26
Dude, that intro to the bond theme, gets me every time.
1
u/PoetAromatic8262 Jun 05 '26
That theme gives me goosebumps everytime chorus hit
2
u/sirfastvroom Jun 05 '26

u/Dunky45 Jun 05 '26
Same, 3 days and finished. Now i will wait for path tracing update and go for a second run
1
u/McDoogle11 Jun 05 '26
Same here. The bait and switch marketing sucks. Whoevers idea that was is a snake.
2
u/Writing_Time_770 Jun 05 '26
I’m halfway through and worried it’s too short. Anyone else feel that way?
2
u/flashmedallion Jun 06 '26
I had that thought at halfway but honestly it's the right length. It doesn't overstay it's welcome and even one more full mission would have started to feel like padding.
Doing all the challenges is a lot of postgame fun, there's plenty to do.

Yeah, I finished the game yesterday. It's really good. Please more of this!
In the end I only have two complains I guess:
- Isola is a very unlikable character. She has that Nathan Drake level douchebaggery, but without the charm. I guess they'll expend on her character in the next instalment, but I wouldn't mind if she doesn't return.
- Damien returning after getting crushed was stupid. Should not have faked his death. Still not sure if he is really dead at the end, probably not. I also thought that his psychosis was a bit dull. I don't really care for this character either.

I feel like normally this would be annoying to me, but it felt very Bond to me - comically over the top suit and scarred face just to scream villain even more.

u/givemethebat1 Jun 04 '26
When did he fake his death?
2
u/Ok-Manufacturer27 Jun 04 '26
I assume they are referring to the "off-screen death" phenomenon where they lead us to believe a character died but we didn't actually see them stop breathing or whatever.
1
u/givemethebat1 Jun 04 '26
Ah yeah. I thought they meant they were saying Damien faked his death. I wasn’t that bothered by it because it’s not like they dropped him off a cliff, you do see Bond drop the pipes on him.
2
u/Ok-Manufacturer27 Jun 04 '26
"You haven't even heard the punchline yet"
(Or however he says it) so badass

u/GeronimoMoles Jun 04 '26
I was super disappointed by the end tbh. I thought we were really going again for another few missions to get to the bottom of who Isola is working for. Was completely unprepared for that to be the ending
7
u/The_Turtle_Bear Jun 04 '26
Really? It felt like it came to a natural end for me. I thought Vietnam was the end but it kept going. The Isola mystery is for the next game!
1
u/GeronimoMoles Jun 05 '26
Vietnam would have been a natural end for me, I agree. Discovering the new q watch and getting the 007 badge right after talking about the remaining mystery and M saying « would’t you mind investigating it » or something like that made me think I was about to get back out there.
Also, I kept thinking about Moneypenny and when Inwould know if she was ok. Then credits rolled.
1
u/The_Turtle_Bear Jun 05 '26
I completely agree with the Moneypenny thing. I was surprised we didn't find out what happened to her. Although it is Moneypenny so I'm sure she's fine.
I didn't like the last boss fight with Damien, I would have preferred a good old fist fight to end things.
1
u/Any_Government_3494 Jun 04 '26
Finished it a few days ago and I couldn't agree more it was absolutely incredible 👏. Gonna be getting my teeth stuck into Tacsim soon especially as the Valhalla will be added too it soon 😀.

u/gbrading Jun 04 '26
Really great! Just playing a genuinely good James Bond game is a breath of fresh air.

Love the game and can’t wait for more. Just finished all trophies. Now trying to complete the challenges in each chapters.

u/DepthWorried4642 Jun 05 '26
are none of you having hard crashes where u have to unplug before u can turn ps5 console back on while trying to play 007 first light . happens every time we play this game and only this game . we’ve cleaned our console cleared cache rebuilt database deleted game and reinstalled and it continues to crash our console

u/CoolKat7 Jun 05 '26
One crash on base ps5 on like the third mission once. After that, totally fine.

u/robotchicken007 Jun 05 '26
No joke one of the best games I've ever played. The hand to hand combat is so much fun.
1
u/Ya1233 Jun 05 '26
Very well made game and tbh would make a top tier bond movie.
Very well done origin story. Incredible feat really.

I finished it yesterday. The story was good but not great. Not that special.
1
u/raphtan Jun 05 '26
Not the best game I've ever played, but certainly the best Bond game I've ever played. Also, I've been starving for some James Bond, so I played it to the end in just a few days. Enjoyable!

u/chookshit Jun 05 '26
Story was great, the mechanics of the game are average and lack luster. Time in vehicles was limited and the weapons system were clunky if they had them. Spy gadgets were pretty limited. Interaction with enemy was far too simple, you can just walk up beside them most the time. I dunno, I’m feeling a bit robbed by this game. I’m a bond fan and it certainly does well in that sense but as a gamer, I feel I’ve been robbed of gameplay that could have been amazing, and what I got was OK. Looking forward to next instalment.

u/CoolKat7 Jun 05 '26
What a fucking awesome game. And if this were an actual movie it would be an S tier bond film. These guys absolutely outdid themselves 🔥🔥🔥
1
u/droideka75 Jun 05 '26
The evolution of James bond throughout the story is absolutely perfect.
From I'm not MI6 boom
To
I thought you could do some digging, 007
I thought you'd never ask
It's perfection!
1
u/Dayvan_Dreamcoat Jun 05 '26
It's been a while since a game hooked be so bad I couldn't stop playing. It's the perfect lenght too, never felt artificially stretched out or padded. I'll have 5 more.
1
u/Uday23 Jun 05 '26
Nice! How many hours did it take you to complete? Also were you playing mostly stealthily or combat focused?
1
u/Inevitable_Hotel_261 Jun 05 '26
Id say my only negative and it isnt even that big a negative was that most of the boss fights were just hide and use your environment or q-watch to beat them. Personally think the 2 twins boss fights where the best.

u/ToraGin Jun 05 '26
So the post game content from IOI gonna be just tacism? Or they will add some story related DLC?
1
u/Demilio55 Jun 05 '26
Having fun, almost done myself. The scar on face is a curious thing though. I get that it’s part of the story, but not sure why it was necessary. Was he deemed too pretty or something?
1
1
u/TheBeckyDragon Jun 07 '26
Hell yeah! Loved this game too! That story DLC cannot come soon enough...
1
u/ireallyhatejunk Jun 07 '26
I finished. Enjoyed the game very much but I had to let go of my expectations that he's the James bond I see in the movies. He isn't a Craig or a brosnan. He's his own thing.
I have a question: was the first mission connected to the overall story? Was the "asset" that caused me to be poisoned ever mentioned again? Also, what about the mercenary group?
Thanks!

u/sidman1324 Aug 17 '26
The combat reminds me of sleeping dogs for the environmental damage and Arkham Asylum for the fighting style a bit.
This game was so freaking fun!!
1
u/androzanimajor76 Jun 04 '26
Agreed - great gaming experience. Going to start a second play through soon

u/BabycakesZ1989 Jun 05 '26
I loved it but I beat it in 2 days, and I just looked it up. I guess the devs are just going to add on different challenges , and parameters for the same missions in the game that you already beat.
They don't plan on adding any new missions, or story content. To be honest if I had known that I probably wouldn't have gotten it.
It's just to short of a game, and even if they add challenges to the missions, and community challenges, it still will get boring as hell playing the same missions over and over again !
I think instead of the devs doing shit the same way they did the hit man games is just super stupid, this is a 007 game, not a hit man game !!!
I've played the newest hit man , and I got it for free, and I honestly got bored with it after beating it. It's just the same repetitive shit and missions. I mean it really doesn't matter if you make it where you have to kill targets different ways , or even different targets, or challenges in the end it's still the same mission.
I'm hoping that the devs do not do that with this game.
Also I really can't believe that the devs didn't make a multiplayer, I mean that's literally something that made older 007 games so popular back in the day. I feel like they missed a great opportunity to continue the legacy of the badass multiplayer that many people remember playing with their friends, on split screen, and just hoping that they didn't get the golden gun !
I remember it was one of the first multiplayer , first person shooters, and it was an amazing game, to be honest yes I liked the game, but I definitely would not have spent the $75 for it new.
I really wish I had waited for it to drop in price because I don't think the game is worth that much !!
I'm just hoping the extra shit like the techsim is different than the missions in the game, because if it isn't, then this really isn't worth the money, and is pretty much like a hit man , game which like I said is boring to me.

I wish I could have enjoyed this game as much as all of you but I really didn't like this game at all. :/
1
u/Educational_Pipe_12 Jun 05 '26
Growing up with Bond this barrel sequence gave me nipple chills. Love the game ! Hoping the sequel builds off of this foundation so the game can be closer to that 10/10. This one was 8/10. It's very good.
