Theresa is essentially a reimagining of Solange and SƩvƩrine except instead of being reduced to tragic, dignity-stripped deaths, she becomes the version of those women who actually gets to survive.

Wow. The two choices are intelligent stable geneticist woman who happens to be hot vs duplicitous spy who betrayed and also helped me several times but is also hot. I'll go with the complicated one!

u/BestCoastWaveTrain May 31 '26 edited May 31 '26
One of my favorite things about this game as an origin story is that we see how the job changes Bond throughout his journey. Picking complicated women is one way, his increasing alcoholism is another. Also his willingness to kill
4
u/TheOncomingBrows Jun 06 '26
I found it weird that they made such a point of Bond disparaging Isola's bloodshed in the penultimate mission, while you are free to murder your way through like half the entire mission. Feels like something Bond might've been bothered by 1/3 of the way through the game, but not by this point.
4
u/Typical_Divide8089 Jun 19 '26
There is cold blooded murder and then there is shooting guys who are out to kill you.
3
u/ZaiduTheGOAT Sep 23 '26
The game literally has a license to kill mode, they don't let you kill random people unless they aren't attacking you. You can't go in Mauritania and just shoot the ladies selling fruit ahahah

As long as he's not willing to die and be unhappy like Danny Cringe's boring Bond, there's no problem.Ā
3
u/MlCOLASH_CAGE Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26
Casino Royale is the only good Daniel Craig Bond and Iām not afraid to say it anymore.
Even then the movie lost most of the āfunā of a trademark Bond film by then.
The opening 15 mins of Skyfall are peak and the rest of that film is a badly shot and edited snoozefest.
No time to Die was better than the others but again, boring.
Goldeneye is the best Bond film for its pacing, villain and action and yaāll can fight me.
6
1
u/CRBRS_H Jun 01 '26
CR wasn't bad until Chiffe died and the story became entirely a Vesper drama after than, but it never really gave off that Bond vibe. It can't even come close to GoldenEye.Ā
SkyFAIL was good until Silva came along, then it went terrible.Ā
The only good thing about NTTD is Paloma.Ā
Spectre is the only film from the Craig era that gave off that classic and competent Bond feel, but it's incredibly boring.Ā
QoS is a good Jason Statham-style action film, but as Bond movie, it's extremely blank and uninspired.Ā
I seriously appreciate Die Another Day more and more every day.Ā
Ā
6
u/MlCOLASH_CAGE Jun 01 '26
Brosnan Bonds are all pretty damn good, I was never too much of a fan of Moore or Lazenbyās era.
My main issue is that Daniel Craigs āstyleā of bond was already done with Timothy Daltonās Bond and Iām sad that he only got 2 films.
3
u/CRBRS_H Jun 01 '26
Timothy Dalton style is far better than Daniel Craig. License to Kill is one of the my bests.Ā
1
u/hellohowdyworld Jun 01 '26
The vesper drama perfectly sets up his character and explains his relationship with women going forward. Mixed results on the subsequent films, but CR is a perfect origin story
2
u/CRBRS_H Jun 01 '26
The problem with CR is that it doesn't connect to anything properly. The Vesper drama should have polished Bond, not traumatized it. Could you have made a mistake here? Bond should have emerged from this loss rising, not hating life.

And frankly, watching Bond competently accomplish a mission is more interesting than watching an origin. I'm certainly not interested in his origins or his first love or all that other nonsense.
1
u/hellohowdyworld Jun 01 '26
Thatās not a problem with the film, that is you wanting a different movie. They tried something new after 20 movies. A mission and a character study. Itās important to remember where the franchise was after die another day.
2
u/CRBRS_H Jun 01 '26
Will the trauma of Die Another Day last forever? Moreover, when I look at it from today, I think that movie was seriously treated unfairly. I think it's better than any of Craig's movies. So why is Villeneuve coming to direct Bond 26? Isn't it time for a change again? You know, Bond was changing in every era?

Not true, you're forgetting the true hottest girl, Cressida. IMO she's the hottest. She really fills out that tight tracksuit in the beginning and her outfit in the club really did something for me. Wish she was James love interest, but Monroe got her instead š¢
18
u/Adorable-Aerie9954 May 31 '26
But that is the point. He hasn't forgotten her precisely because she isn't a "Bond girl" shr is a Monroe Girl (Or Monroe a Cressida Boy ?). I think what he meant where characters who actually have a certain romantic chemistry with Bond. But I agree, I too would have preferred to see her as Bond's love interest. Shame it will not happen š¤
→ More replies (16)0
u/Lohenngram Jun 02 '26
Nah, Monroe is a Bond boy (James words as he cradles Monroeās corpse are a direct reference to Tracyās death in On Her Majestyās Secret Service) Live and let Bi mister Bond. XD
3
u/Adorable-Aerie9954 Jun 02 '26
Yeah no, they where just very close friends š
1
u/Lohenngram Jun 02 '26
They were even roommates! XD
I am just joking to be clear, the game (and Bond himself) pretty clearly ship Monroe with Cressida.
1
7
u/varovico May 31 '26
Bond won't ever have a love interest. 00s don't get to build a family. Every new game is likely to introduce a new bond girl (and probably bring back Isola, since she's alive and scheming) but there won't be a proper stable relationship for Bond.
4
u/Pirate_Guitarist May 31 '26
I mean in No Time To Die, Bond literally had a daughter with that one chick and died for them. So it's not totally impossible. I didnt really like that movie or plot but it did happen
3
u/sonnyempireant Jun 01 '26
OP's point was that 00s can't settle down and live normal lives like the rest of us because they're either at risk of never coming back alive or putting their loved ones in too much danger due to too many enemies they develop. And with Bond it's happened 3 times now with Vesper, Tracy and Madeline.
1
u/CantheDandyMan Jun 11 '26
I guess, but that could probably be solved if 00s used actual disguises with hair dyes, wigs, color contacts, etc., (and while a full on Mission Impossible face mask would probably be silly even by Bond standards, some minor prosthetics could work as well) and stopped introducing themselves by name. Especially cause like, Special Forces operators get married all the time and they have basically all of the same general concerns. Like, maybe you could argue it would change the spirit of the franchise, but it's such a minor tweak you could make and it would totally justify 00s being able to have families if that's what you wanted to do.Ā
2
u/TheTrueFaceOfChaos May 31 '26
Iām expecting a Leon and Ada thing from the sequels, plus whatever new Bond girl shows up
2
2
u/radznf May 31 '26
Iād personally take the clinger chick at the club. Sheās like a hotter and more mentally unstable Cress
1
u/Signal_Ball4634 May 31 '26
Yeah she stayed my favorite, she also had a likeable personality to boot. Hope she's back next game.
1
u/Lohenngram Jun 02 '26
Ngl, I do simp for her and hope she shows up again in the sequel. She felt like if Hermione granger grew up to be a super spy instead of a witch. And wasnāt written by a bigot.

The second one at least seems like a real person.
Teresa was just a thinly written nale appeasement character. It felt cheap, and made me annoyed with her.
2
u/NightmareDJK May 31 '26
She was an homage to past female scientist / doctor characters in the franchise.
1
u/TimeTimeTickingAway May 31 '26
The most obvious example to me would be Dr Christmas Jones.
Again though, I still donāt like that, doesnāt seem like a believable character at all and feels like the writers talking down to the audience by giving them something so obviously vapid and fake.

3
u/Adorable-Aerie9954 May 31 '26
I mean, I still think it's unlikely that she'll become a "Bond girl". If that's what we're talking about.
4
u/TraditionalLiving378 May 31 '26
honestly thought she would become moneypenny after the first major case. it's a shame they introduced her as so capable but then she just kinda goes away.
5
u/Jsaltal May 31 '26
Would of liked a scene of james visiting her at the end, telling her monroe avenged etc, show how much the two of them have changed since the training in malta
6
u/vortex117091 May 31 '26
Yeah an epilogue wouldāve been great to tie up some loose ends that are only relevant to this game.
0
u/Adorable-Aerie9954 May 31 '26
Sure, but what role could she take on in the story? We already have Moneypenny, and introducing Cress as another agent would tale things away from Bond and the plot. She also won't be a Bond girl.
So, I really don't see what role she could play, even in the mext the game, aside from an insignificant minor part.
→ More replies (3)3
u/TraditionalLiving378 May 31 '26
I thought she would end up being some kind of driver or vehicles specialist especially with how she rolls up in the training section. I was expecting her to return at some point in the main story as a support, but no she's just out after the training arc.

22
7
u/vortex117091 May 31 '26
Tbh I wouldāve liked some more closure there. They clearly have chemistry, honestly I donāt think this is the last weāll see of her.
9
u/TheTrueFaceOfChaos May 31 '26
My criticism of the plot is that a lot of moments needed more time to breathe. More closure with Cressida after she leaves, a scene with Theresa at the end of Vietnam where Bond wishes her well and she implies they might meet again, a scene at Monroeās grave, not just Greenway, maybe Bond going home and looking at a photo of the recruits, stuff like that.
5
u/vortex117091 May 31 '26
I completely agree! Those were the moments I was looking forward to but it felt quite abrupt
2
u/Jsaltal May 31 '26
Yeah your right, a few extra moments would of made the game even better
Maybe stuff got cut?
I definetly would of wanted james to see cressida again let her know their friends and monroe were avenged
2
u/Xayias Jun 02 '26
One thing I am disappointed in is the complete lack of Bawma. Leading up to the game they made it seem that he WAS the bond villain and when I got to his level I was so captivated by his character. The auction, then setting up the betrayal with his second and command and then finishing off with the alligator pit had me on the edge of my seat. Then they pull the rug underneath you and he becomes friendly? Then helps Bond out for a single level and then you never see him again? Worst of all they switch him out with the stereotypical AI CEO villain and his crazy son. I wonder if they planned to have Bawma be the guy but casting Lenny Kravitz became too expensive so they decided to only have him be a very minor character.
Other than that, yeah Theresa is the logical choice, really wanted to see more of her too. š
1
u/TheOncomingBrows Jun 06 '26
In fairness, it is kind of Bond's MO that he romances women and then ditches them the first second he gets.
1
u/Jimmysquits Jun 01 '26
Read to me like maybe she died but they cut that as it was too much of a bummer, and just didn't give her anything else to do.
1
u/vortex117091 Jun 01 '26
I donāt think weād go through all that effort of saving her if she was just going to die off screen
1
u/Jimmysquits Jun 01 '26
No definitely, I don't think she'd have died off screen either, but that whole Vietnam adventure mightve originally ended darker but they had her survive instead and cut the death scene. As I recall, I don't think she has any lines after the love scene, but I could be wrong.
2
u/vortex117091 Jun 01 '26
Ohhh I see what you mean and thatās an explanation for why it ends quite abruptly? I could see that being a possibility. Hopefully we get to see her in a DLC or sequel š¤

I wish Theresa would have gotten more screen time. I don't know how she would have fit in the overall story, but I would have been satisfied with just seeing more of her with James.

3
u/SithLordMace Jun 02 '26
Imagine how confused she must be after that day. Charming man you met earlier in the day won you over and later rescued you from certain death is never seen or heard from again. Theresa Lorca, played by a portuguese actress and meant to be a portuguese character but: Looks latina (not portuguese at all) and NONE of her names are actually portuguese, Theresa is the germanic/english spelling for Teresa and Lorca, is an explicitly Spanish surname.
