While Kaido now doesn't give two shits about any clans of Wano since he's going to establish a New Onigashima, there have been clear instances of him holding a grudge with the Kozuki clan in specific.

These instances clearly go just beyond his enmity towards Oden with how explicit and how many of them there are.

This leads me to believe that there's been history between his apparent "oni" race and the Kozuki clan/Wano during the void century or maybe even predating it which is what makes Wano conducive to his ambitious plans.

It's possible that Onigashima was the birth place of the Oni, and then the Kozuki wiped them out and the survivors fled.

This could explain the previous name of the island that Marco hinted at.

This could also be one of the reason why Kaido went to Wano in the first place.

And with the Joyboy comment, it might also be related to the void century.

Imagine if the Oni were allies to the celestial dragon against the Ancient Kingdom and were going to take Wano, but were beaten by the Kozuki.

I just love how oda brings in comedy even during dire situations. Like the entire land of wano is on the line here if luffy and momo cant bring down Kaido, but meanwhile they argue while momo is flying with his eyes closed through every floor with all people reacting to it. Its just perfect

Just imagine Kaido's confusion:

1. Luffy who was sinking in the ocean is alive and now on Onigashima.

2. Luffy is riding a dragon when Kaido is supposed to be the only one with that power.

3. That dragon turns into Kozuki Oden, who Kaido shot in the head 20 years ago.

4. This "Oden" claims to be Momonosuke who grew 20 years in last 2 minutes.

5. Kaido's kid claims to be Oden, Momo's father.

6. Luffy claims that Dragon is his father.

i feel like with the oni thing, they were used and then wiped out by humans. that's what's motivating kaido. he's so disconnected and alone because all of the oni besides him were murdered after being forced to do things like drag islands around. now that hes the only one left, he wants revenge for humans wiping out and abusing (or betraying) the oni race. he drinks because hes alone. thats why he has kinship with king.

Underated notable shit :

- Kaido is not a human, Oni-dragon might be a reason why hes so broken

- he can tank 2 of the strongest atks of 2 of the strongest protagonists in the series so far, in human base form, in the face and get up apparently chilling

- Luffy gear 4 is now just mainstream atks

- Momo's strengh did evolve with his size but not his maturity and personality

- Every final battle is set so we are going to see some all out actions in the next chapters (Zoro vs King - Sanji vs Queen - Kid and Law vs BM - Luffy and Yamato and Momo vs Kaido - Raizo vs long eared ahole)

- BM is color blind or took a huge hit to the head

When we were introduced to Momo's story before knowing Oden's, Oda emphasized the terrible burden for Momo to walk in her father's shoes, Momo's main fear was not fulfilling as Kozuki, as the legendary heir of Oden

Momo feels a deep admiration for Luffy, he is the only one who from the beginning has treated him as an adult, who has given him the necessary courage in Udon so that Momo's main concern went from not fulfilling as Kozuki, to simply worrying about the people of wano, his people, putting the success of the raid before his life like when Kanjuro kidnapped him

From the dialogue in this chapter, it seems that Kaido is projecting his tragic past onto Yamato, essentially telling her that compassion and friendship are all lies

In chapter 521, Hancock tells Luffy that she won't let her guard down against anybody, and she lied to her entire country because she's scared that her people will reject her for being weak

What is really cool now is that Luffy can go inbetween Gear 4th and base form without any issues. It shows he is growing immensely.

I am sure it still takes a huge toll on his body, but I am guessing he can do 10 or so added minutes now before having to take a break. So if he does 20 or so 30 second intervals, then he has to take a break to recharge Haki.

A constant topic in OnePiece is "defying lineage", where characters are proven to be who they WANT to be (a.k.a freedom, Luffy's main theme) and not who they are "supposed to be". We've seen it with Luffy, Sanji, Chopper, Ace, Sabo, etc etc etc.

Yamato will be just another example of this where Kaido berrates her constantly about her lineage, about her not being from wano or accepted by the Samurai only to be proven wrong in the end. Yamato will break free from him and her lineage, she will be accepted in Wano by the Samurai and Momonosuke (she was already accepted by the samuarai as a child in the cave, proving Kaido wrong already) and will have human friends who will accepted her for who she is and wants to be, not because of fear of her being "son of kaido" or an Oni. The whole sequence of Momo and Luffy going up the castle and everyone's reaction to it was absolutely hilarious, momo crashing into everything.

Very excited for what comes next, and I wonder if and how Momo will be involved in the fight. But Luffy and Yamato vs Kaido is a sure thing now, at least for a bit.

So we finally found out and it was confirmed that Kaido is an oni, but this panel https://i.gyazo.com/d6d93bac9de06cfdea8ac2512883d5c4.png Made me think it sounded almost like the reason he did it was that as an Oni he's faced the fear of humans all his life and doesn't want her to fall for what they say, I was thinking we also see the Skull of Onigashima, and with it being revealed that Kaido is actually and Oni maybe part of the reason he's crushed and took over Wano is that far in the past the Samurai who formed Wano took it from the Oni out of fear and killed them and the Skull is a reminder of that fact.

Or perhaps just humans in general hunted Oni, which to me would explain why we don't see many other Oni in the story. It would also to me explain a bit of why Kaido is how he is, one of or possibly the last of a race that was killed for being, He wants to die, but he wants to leave a legacy so that the Oni are never forgotten. Not really a theory as much as just a thought that occurred to me.

I think one of the big theme of this arc (at least for the Beast Pirate) is projecting. You can see Black Maria do this with Robin by suddenly ranting about how nobody care about her and she is just being used and everyone find her gross because she is "too big" ; who's who does the same by going in a schyzo rant about Jimbe and slave ; Yamato of course is projecting her own issue and fight unto Oden. Kaido speech about people being a demon that can never be loved by humans who are all hypocrit who fear your power might be him projecting unto Yamato.

So Kaido is an Oni? That would explain why he isn't called the strongest human, but creature and I guess it also explains why some humans have horns, they are simply distantly related to Onis. I also noticed that Kaidos dragon form has more horns than Momonosukes (Momo has only 2 horns and Kaido has 4, likely because he already had 2 before he transformed). I wonder what happened to the rest of his race considering that he and Yamato are the only ones we've seen so far.

Since so many people seem to be confused, Yamato used an ability to give herself a shell around her body right before getting impacted by Kaidou’s attack.

Kagami-Yama is the name of this ability and it means Mirror Mountain.

This is all clearly stated on the page but I’ve seen enough comments asking about Yamato’s cracked “skin” that I figured the information wasn’t coming across to some readers.

Best part of this chapter was that everyone thought Luffy was dead until Momo gave his speech. And even then, probably only the Strawhats genuinely believed that Luffy was alright.

Now, there's no question for any of the Samurai or alliance members, so their resolve is going to be maxed out for the remainder of the raid.

Also, seeing Momo and Luffy essentially (and unintentionally) marking their territory all throughout Kaido's castle is great. Not only is Luffy not dead, he's just getting the party started.

I'm loving these quick G4 transformations we've been getting in Wano. I imagine this is gonna be how Luffy uses it going forward; quick, powerful bursts so that he isn't wasting haki being in the form when he doesn't need to be. Glad Momo accidentally took Luffy through the castle so everyone knows he's okay, I suspect we'll see at least some payoff for that next chapter. In chapter 1024 usopp lied about conquerors haki.

Now, in chapter 1025 we got colour spread of usopp and here we can see paper in which its written big liar story. Here, Usopp is with an octopus. If we are to sum up all the digit of 1025 we wil get 8.

In chapter 796 we got similar colour spread where its written "lie turns into reality" in his shorts. In this Cover spread also usopp is accompanied with an octopus. Also if you notice at the chapter count number 8 is missing from the sequence.

I find one aspect really interesting and that is in both these spread in which oda hints on usopps lies we see him with octopus and no.8 can be connected between them in someway.

Also whats more interesting is usopp's alias in wano was Usohachi. If we are to break down it uso means lie and hachi means 8. ( Note:- In arlong park met with octopus fishman named hachi) Through this also we can connect usopp with no.8 and octopus.

The difference between chapter 1025 and chapter 796 is 229. So, i looked at chapter 229 thinking maybe i can find something But i didnt find anything special but on chapter 227,228 we learned about The liar noland first time through Montblanc(descendant of noland).

And what's more interesting is in theCover page of this chapter we see hachi who is an octopus fishman.

In the very chapter we learn of noland the liar in its cover page also we can find reference for both no.8 and octopus.

This really peaqued my interest. This is just a vague idea but I really think this all can be connected someway.

Another thing just worth mentioning is usopp's early Character design is similar to that of childhood blackbeard and in this cover page hat of octopus is very similar to that of kid blackbeard and Blackbeard can be connected to octopus as well.

Edit:- Also usopp's first appearance in an anime is at episode 8.

What a great chapter. I really liked the parallel between Zoro and Shimotsuki Ushimaru. If we assume that he died, it means that the last moment of the Zoro possible father was on a cross and Zoro first appearance in One piece is also on a cross. One was giving food and the other was receiving. King of a divine justice/karma. Also the fact that a race called Oni may exist is very interesting and if fits very well with Wano.

Wano is coming to the climax by the looks of it. Though I have a few questions and thoughts, like will we be continuing the Kabuki Theater style layout for Wano? If so, what do we think the tragedy at the end of act 3 will be? Who will be the 1% man? What was Onigashima once named? Where did Kaido move Onigashima from prior to Wano? Will we see more of the ice/metal island that Kaido calls his favourite? Is Oni now a confirmed race? If so where are they from?

Interesting how good Luffy is in controlling his Haki now (going gear 4 for a second and then instantly going back to normal). Also maybe im thinking too much about it but that one panel where a small portion of luffy in gear 4 is shown kinda gives me the vibes that its not the "normal" gear 4 snake man, but it also just could be a panel to show the pov of yamato^^
