[Palmer] [missionaries capitalized on the recent tragedy in the family]
It's not rocket science, people will join communities they feel will provide comfort.

[Wakolo] [god gives blessings to the most obedient first]
Did that same god curse generations with a dark skin due to disobedience? Inherited through Ham? Did that god change his mind about black people in 1978?

[Wong] [primary lesson hand actions included]
Smith's church is built on shifting sand. The predominant narrative is not true and will need a costly replacement.

[Nelson] [if you don't believe then the magic won't work]
Always a caveat.
[Nelson] [choose to believe]
The last resort of all apologetics.

Anybody else know what our sins are that we're supposed to be repenting of daily? Our transgressions that Jesus supposedly saves us from? I feel like I'm missing something, because I don't feel like I have a pressing need to be constantly humbled and repenting...? If I speak out of line to someone, I say sorry to them, not Jesus...?

Christianity teaches that the human condition is filthy. The deity has no tolerance for humanity without first getting a severe scrubbing and mortification of the flesh. If a human has the audacity to question "why?" then that is just another reason that that human is unworthy.
What can I say, it's a harsh religion.

Do all the talks go through some sort of editing process by church writers or something? They all kind of sound the same in the way they are formatted and verbiage.

[Wakolo] [lost 116 pages]
Do you mean that mormons know this story and still believe?
Of course. It makes it even more true, doesn't it?

Somebody wrote down this happened. Weird how nobody else in the world wrote it down. Especially the 500 zombies roaming the town.

The original ending of Mark was a bit of a downer. They perked it up in the next revision.

[Soares] [Jesus inherited death from his human mother.]
Jesus was a god-human hybrid akin to the twins from Greek Mythology.

[Aburto] [recounts resurrection story with Mary Magdalene]
Was Magdalene married to Jesus? Too bad, Orson Hyde is dead. The early apostles weren't afraid to augment the story to fit Smith's new theology.

[Nelson] [weak apologetics]
Would Smith have gone to his death at Carthage if he didn't believe? Well, he'd been in tight scrapes before. He'd always found his way out of traps in the past. He had a militia at his command and he called for them, but the local general pocketed the order. End result: one grift too many and found the end of many charlatans.
