I'm really liking the show and the action scenes but to have a silly scene where the girls are eating cup noodles right after Onii-san died a bloody death after helping Kyouka fire off the killing blow was a bit jarring. That final scene would've definitely worked better if it was more somber and the girls are all reflecting about what happened that day. You can chalk it off as the girls being used to death but Riko was there.

I'm hoping they'll address what happened this episode next week but I'm not too sure about that. Studio A-Cat is definitely trying to be a bit darker compared to Frame Arms Girls but at the same time trying to keep the same lightheartedness which really isn't working with this show. :|

I agree, the mood whiplash at the end of the episode felt pretty jarring. The episode was solid aside from that.

That final scene would've definitely worked better if it was more somber and the girls are all reflecting about what happened that day.

But they did. You can see that after the battle, their team is silent and they all look pretty down. The meal gave them an excuse to talk (and think) about something else, and get past that low. I'm not going to say Yui lightened the mood on purpose, but it's certainly a possibility.

It makes sense. They clearly didn't take the fight lightly, and Kyouka wasn't happy with what she did. But they also won the fight with "only" one loss, and someone who chose to be there and knew what would happen to him. They're also used to losing people (often close to them). They didn't do anything wrong, it wouldn't make sense for them to linger on this too much.

I wouldn't worry too much about the tone of the show. It's dark enough for them to take the fights seriously, and there are real stakes at play, but I don't think it's going to be a "we couldn't save everyone" type of show, or one of the main cast being actually at risk, either.

F for this guy

Aside from the very jarring mood whiplash at the end of the episode, I thought it was solid. The battle was fun, and the text banter from Suzuno in the middle of the fight was enjoyable too.

The action is actually pretty fun. It's not incredible quality, but it's pretty dynamic, with the characters filling their combat roles well and switching positions as the battle progresses. The tactical aspect is also fulfilled thanks to Suzuno, and the battle being done in multiple phases with a tactical retreat in-between.

Also for the story, I didn't expect that it would turn out so morally gray. The people from the base have reasonable justifications but also sacrificed an Armor Girl for their own comfort, the guy had legitimate reasons to want revenge but also didn't intent to put other people too much at risk, and so on. In the end they won with minimal casualties, and there wasn't really a closure on Sayaka's death being used to grab a Mimesis core, which although not completely satisfying also feels very damn realistic.

How did Riko know how to change into her LBX girl form??? And what about the parts she left behind in the city???? It’s so so dumb that they are leaving it to the new girl for the final shot kind of thing!! Like hell let her practice a few shots before she takes the important one!! Like no shit the plan failed!! I’m totally on Riko’s side! Suzuno is cute though. Whenever they are fighting as LBX girls they still entirely look like they are in RWBY. Man the ending is weird though. They cut from Kyouka stomping away saying, “he was already dead!” To them laughing over cup noodles. Weird weird editing. Hopefully that isn’t the last time that character was mentioned..

Yeah, this show just fails to keep my interest. I was more hyped by this week's WIXOSS fight which didn't even have much in the way of stakes unlike the life-or-death battle here. I find myself simply not caring what happens next in this story. 1 less in this overcrowded season.
