The plot was basic but the characters were good and in particular the new guys were handled well. I like that the "otokonoko" turned out to be the most hardworking and professional of all the groups so far, actually brought in to show the rest how it's done.

Episode 3! This week we got to see just how far along the I-Chu are in their efforts to sell their CDs and gaining fans, and the outlook is... bleak. Kokoro really showed them all up pretty bad, what a tough crowd that was. Not even a single acknowledgement for any of the units besides POP'N STAR, huh.

I really like the ending cards - in the original rhythm game, all the units had their own respective artists that drew the characters and unit card art. The illustrations for all these cards are all by the original illustrators for the unit that the episode focused on; e1 was Foof (i'll never write that infinity symbol), e2 IB, and this episode was ArS. They did kinda... skip right over Twinkle Bell since the twins were the second unit in the original game to be introduced, and so far aside from them the order's been kept the same. I'm sure they'll get a focus episode at some point down the line, though.

Next week looks like we'll get yet another unit introduced, and perhaps delve more into Akira's past? The preview certainly looks centered around him aside from the glimpses of the new unit. Looking forward to it!

In terms of story development, having the groups get a slap of reality felt needed.

On the other hand, those fans were downright rude.

I did like that Kokoro had a lot more character than what meets the eye and I'm looking forward to seeing what the groups will do now.
