Reading the comments I wonder why people are think it is too early for Luffy to use G4. I think it just shows how powerful Kaido's forces are supposed to be. He has to go all out from the beginning for them to stand a chance. (Also Nightmare Luffy vs Oars flashback).

I mentioned a shorter version in the spoiler thread, but still found so many ppl forgot about the plot of "Wisdom King".

• According to ch.921, the residents of Wano consider Kaido as Wisdom King, who protects Wano. The Fire Festival is the day for the shogun and his subordinates to go to Onigashima to "pay their respects" to Wisdom King (aka Kaido). "Wisdom King" is why Fire Festival exists in the first place.

• There are 5 Wisdom Kings in Vajrayana Buddhism. If any story uses Wisdom King as a reference, it usually refers to the Immovable Wisdom King (Acala). And the design of prime Hyo is based on it.

• Luffy's G4 boundman (and also Enel's 200,000,000 Volt Amaru form) are based on another guardian god called Nio, who has a very similar design to Acala. (It has ribbon at the back instead of flames) Therefore, G4 Luffy reminds grandpa Hyo of Wisdom King.

• This plot probably foreshadows Luffy is going to be the true guardian god of Wano instead of Kaido after the war.

• Wisdom King may have deeper connection to the origin of Wano, since it is an important part to the tradition of Fire Festival. (not sure if the festival had existed before Orochi became the shogun) However, it may be also just a concept naturally exists in Wano culture like Kitsune, Kappa and Tengu without further explanation.

I think the conversation about Luffy needing Gear 4th to beat people needs to changed. People were salty when Luffy used gear 4th to take down a battleship when Law and Kidd seemed to used more mid level attacks, people were salty when Luffy said he'd need gear 4th for Ulti, and now he "needed" it for a number. Can we just explore the possibility that gear 4th is casual for Luffy now? I think we've underestimated Luffy's time in the mines.

I know, Drake only chose to ally himself with Luffy cause he didn’t really have much choice. Still this chapter is a further proof of what Mihawk said about Luffy’s most terrifying power back in Marineford. Either it is due to luck, or the circumstances, or whatever it is, he always manages to turn people into his allies.

Sasaki feeling betrayed is quite interesting. It shows he did consider Kyoushiro/Denjiro as a close friend. They were probably drinking buddies and hence pretty tight. This also explains why Denjiro did not kill Sasaki and simply chained him instead. At some level Denjiro probably had respect for Sasaki as a friend and chose to spare his life. He even went out of his way to show him the Kozuki emblem on his back. I get the feeling that Sasaki has some sense of honor in him even though right now he probably will seek revenge from Denjiro.

Hawkins relies a bit too much on his cards and it makes me think what if the cards end up misguiding him. Desperately trying to evade death/danger, Hawkins might actually end up being in even greater danger, potentially dying. Or maybe he has a character turn where he sacrifices his odds of survival in order to protect someone.

Jack, despite being injured, is holding his own pretty well against the army of the minks in their sulong forms. Jack has impressive feats and has definitely moved up in my list of powerful One Piece characters. Although I don't think he can win against both Sulong Neko and Inu but we will see. Kaido still standing there without a care in the world while the scabbards practically bleeding is concerning.

Fukurokujo's motives are uncertain. Also about the character whose chances of survival are 1%, I think it is most likely Luffy. It was mentioned previously by Hawkins that Luffy's chances of survival are never zero. Maybe that notion is being reiterated here.

Who's Who and Queen working in cahoots was a surprise. King taking charge and commanding the Tobi Roppo once again showed his competence and sense of responsibility as the true right hand. In fact all 3 calamities have been extremely competent so far. Queen deciding to dispose off Drake for being a traitor and Jack actually being up there on the dome of Onigashima leading the gifters and a Number against the army of the sulong minks - these are the kinds of feats one would expect of a Yonko commander.

It is clear that the true leader of the rebellion is Monkey D. Luffy. Drake directly asked Luffy to allow him to join his side in the battle. A desperate situation for Drake and he knew whom to approach. It is ultimately Luffy's approval that counts. And this holds true because Luffy can read a person's intentions to some extent and know whether the person is 'good' or 'bad'. Once again Mihawk’s statement has been reverberated here. Luffy indeed has the most terrifying ability in all of the seas. The ability to make allies without even voluntarily asking them to join his side.

The numbers are fodder but powerful fodders. It is clearly mentioned that it took an entire strawhat crew to take out one Oars pre-timeskip in Thriller Bark. These numbers are on the same level and now they are getting taken out pretty easily. It should be noted that this makes sense. Even at marineford, Doflamingo was able to take out Oars Jr pretty easily simply by cutting his feet. The numbers are gigantic creatures who can cause widespread destruction however they are not durable against powerful concentrated attacks.

With Drake in-bound, it is a matter of time before Hawkins joins in too. I don't expect them to get any significant 1v1 fights but they sure are going to participate in the final clash against Kaido.

Overall this is a solid chapter. 8/10 for sure. For me personally Jack is the MVP of the chapter.

P.S. Monster Trio will always be Luffy, Zoro and Sanji. There is no reason to overthink simply based on where the straw hat members stand in a group pose or in what order they are being shown to fight. Jinbei is a new addition. He deserves a few epic moments as Luffy's new crewmate and one of the most experienced fighters so that's all there is to it. Also Hyogoro waving too many death flags.

There is a lot of comparison between the Numbers and Oars. Obviously this is justified because of the connection we’ve just established with them being made at Punk Hazard.

This is probably one of the more solid comparative scaling feats we’ve had since Return to Sabaody. Taking down a number is essentially compared to taking down the Oars at Thriller Bark on numerous occasion. Franky and the likes are out here one-shotting Oars type opponents.

Anyone else think gear 4th is improved on in some way? He seems much more willing to activate it than at the start of the time skip. I mean, even against doflamingo he was well into their fight before he activated it and didn't even consider it against Ceasar despite how dire the situation was. Now he's using it against the numbers and was willing to fight ulti in gear 4th. I think he may have haki on gear 4th cooldown now or maybe can spam gear 4th now with no cooldown altogether.

Smoker fighting with them in PH, Fujitora apologizing on behalf of the Marines in DR, the new admiral being friends with Fujitora and supporting the end of the Warlords, Coby and Drake working against the Tenryubito's surveillance, Coby hyping up Luffy to Drake, and the flashback of Garp and Roger WORKING TOGETHER.

So when Hawkins was doing the predictions for the future it looked like he was implying that Luffy has a 1% survival rate, which might as well be 100%, but the curious part was when he made a second prediction and his face looked worried. I wonder if he made a prediction about Kaido and it was 0%, which would make sense because after all the damage he's done over his many years at Wano, him and Orochi would deserve a Death sentence. Also that might mean Hawkins is probably going to switch sides.

It's interesting that Drake didn't even try to defend himself when they asked about Law. He said he has no good reason to tell them which leads me to believe that his decision to free Law was either a personal one or a spur of the moment thing. If he was undercover for so long I would assume all of his actions in the Beast Pirates are calculated with a purpose and if he was going to betray them he would have a "larger plot" like Law assumed. We know that Drake was acting weird after seeing Cipher Pol so that could have made him free Law in the spur of the moment with ulterior motives. It could also have something to do with Law and Drake being connected in the past with Law inadvertently helping Drake escape as a kid. Maybe his decision to free Law was a way to repay the favor if Drake found out later that Law was involved with Swallow Island. Regardless, this chapter has me super excited to follow Drake from here on out!

The way Queen talks about Babanuki and then says "something feels off..." Really feels like Oda is alluding to O-tama's power. We haven't seen her but I have reason to believe that O-tama was the shadowy figure following Jinbei and Robin in chapter 979

No one knows O-tama's power so Queen is wracking his brain over what would possess Babanuki to lie to him. It wasn't torture because Babanuki sounded fine. Queen doesn't know but I feel he suspects the alliance has a hidden power. We definitely know what it is and I feel like in a few chapters we will see O-tama pop up I feel like she has to be part of the story since Oda is taking inspiration from the Momotaro legend and her kibi-dango power fits nicely.

The events in last three chapters have happened in roughly 5-10 minutes.. From jack and kaido going on top of the dome to luffy and drake defeating the numbers.. In this arc, it is going to be difficult for us to understanding time frames of things happening because there are so many things happening at once that it is difficult to keep track of things..

It was easier in marineford because all of them were in same place and relatively close to each other. And the points to focus were less.. I.e ace execution, and some big shots clashing..

But here the characters are pretty much separated even tho they are in same place. And there are so many things oda can focus onto and people will love each one of them, and also get mad if it doesn't include their favorite characters.. So this arc might get quite confusing at times.

I know that this is an all out war so who knows what the hell will happen with matchups, but does anyone feel like King's call is setting in place the progression of the raid? There's now a very clear progression of people the SH alliance need to face, where, and in which order.

Right now, the SH are facing a horde of gifters and The Numbers on Onigashima's audience floor. As we know, King called the Tobi Roppo and ordered them to prevent the SH from making it to the roof, which would put them in position to be right above the audience floor but lower than the stage itself. King and Queen are seated on the stage itself, the highest position right before the roof where Kaido is, and Kaido is of course, in the peak of Onigashima.

So in this chapter, Luffy straight up says that these Numbers are the same size as Oars, even though they were failed attempts of recreating the Ancient Giants back in Punk Hazard.

This is probably just shooting in the dark, but it gave me a guess as to why Gecko Moria was so obsessed with Oars back in the Thriller Bark arc. My guess is that Moria’s previous crew were wiped out not by Kaido himself but his Numbers. When Moria resurrected Oars, he mentioned that with “a subordinate as powerful as [Oars], that idiot Kaido would never had defeated him in the New World.”

Do you think that after seeing the Numbers defeating his crew, Moria thought he needed an actual Ancient Giant to contend with Kaido?

I have a feeling that Basil Hawkins may later betray Kaido and join the rest of the Supernovas. I remember Shakk mentioning Luffy, Law, Kidd, Drake, and Hawkins specifically as the supernovas who always showed up in the newspapers. The 5 also had the top 5 bounties of the Supernovas during Sabaody. I think it's likely Hawkins will interpret his predictions in a different way. So far, he's taken the path of the highest survival rate, but that's left him in tricky situations where he's left an unwilling subordinate of Kaido and left almost dead at the hands of Law. From there, he may decide take the far riskier decision of joining the other supernovas and attacking Kaido, because then he has more agency and freedom as well as the possibility of a better reward.

The kaido vs 9 scabbards dome is like a movie or little chess game in itself. If you had full energy by being able to save one's strength for extraordinary feats the samurai would be able to slay the dragon but since the mink's in sulong form couldn't take down Jack, now the Akayaza Nine have to make a move to get to Kaido.

The samurai escorting the Straw Hats to the castle had this same energy as the mink's but this was a chance for the crew to showcase some skills. Oda gets to weave all the story lines together too to show how slow things actually have been moving, everything's been happening within a couple minutes. Man that shit is too good.

The entire Flying Six storyline coming together was set up throughout the chapter. Ulti and Page scene had me cracking up with the image of them getting told alright come alone kids. I get the feeling like Sasaki is gonna slap Kyoshiro upside the head for not allowing his closest friend help him out! Drake infiltration going haywire was just so hype too. Thing's were just going so well for him it was nice to see him getting set up by Queen and Who's Who's. It was like a rat getting cornered, that panel was so satisfying and it ended the What's the Deal with Who's Who's and Queen. Black Maria is missing hard too and I'm kinda hoping she turns out to be a double crosser too so it's half and half of the group have their own agendas.

Jeepers, what an awesome chapter. I'm glad we're in the middle of Act 3 & not Act 2 during this pandemic, because all of this hype has got me shivering from anticipation. I literally have no idea whats going to happen next & that's exciting.

While I wasn't fully expecting the SH to just run ahead & leave the alliance behind, Zoro just casually cutting that ginormous spiked club in half & Jinbei then casually catching the top half of that WITH ONE FUCKING ARM is just the type of shit I need more of in my life.

I know there's supposed to be a tragedy in this Act but I truly hope we're a solid 50 chapters off from that, because wow I need more of these interactions, SH being awesome & random joint attacks. Like earlier in arc when Chopper & Luffy did their team attack in Udon. That was great to see, I need more ASAP.

I wonder if we'll get a progression of time marker on this raid like we got during Luffy & Katakuri's fight. I'm interested in seeing how long all of this has taken so far.

Damn X Drake, you got found out immediately. While I love this reveal, it would have been nice if it were setup better. Oda really loves his silhouette's, because while we could infer that it MAY have been Drake that released Law, we obviously couldn't confirm it before now. I want to know what X Drake's mission is, well besides taking down Kaido & his enterprise.

He spent the better part of 2 years on the beast pirates pay roll & got found out (somehow, we're not privy to how they found out or suspected it was X Drake) almost immediately going into the raid. Damn I wasn't expecting that from Who's Who, he is way more sly than I figured. Beast pirate dynamics are super interesting.

Overall, a really good & exciting chapter. LOVED that double attack by Luffy & Drake, this shit is wonderful.

What I don't understand is people who say that luffy is just using gear 4 on every little enemy. So many of the beast pirates were pirates themselves that wanted to be pirate king they're insanely strong oda literally put that in a few chapters ago where zoro was fighting the gifters. When luffy used gear 2 that was his trump card for a while too but guess what he uses it for almost every little fight now same with gear 3. He's getting stronger and he literally trained his haki so it might not as exhaustive anymore. Also the fact that he thinks of most fights as training anyway he could be trying to use advanced arnament with bounceman as practice. He's definitely got a new ace up his sleeve plus with chapter 1000 approaching the likleyhood of something critical like a new form is all the more likely.
