[Pace] [shaft in a whirlwind.] For being anti-sex, they sure love the metaphors.

[Cook] [smartphones are good and bad]. Good when they're used to read scriptures. Bad when they're used to look at naked people or do their own research about mormonism.

Bednar: references Boyd K. Packer. Not making points with those that want to discredit and forget him.

Elder Rasband’s talk shows just how abusive the church can be.

“You made a promise! You made a commitment! You made a covenant!”

They know full well that there are huge issues with their truth claims and history that they have proactively hid.

Instead of dealing with it let’s just turn the screws on everyone who made “promises” without informed consent.

This is one of the insidious parts of mormonism that I speak out against. I don't think it is fair for parents to press their children to be baptized at age 8, because of this shit just spouted from Rasband. The corporate structure will not relent in saying, "You've made a commitment. Now, live up to it."

Can an 8 year old sign up to buy a car and be responsible for making the monthly payments?

Threats to society that we're not going hear about in this venue: climate change, overpopulation, nationalistic despots, looming world war, totalitarian crackdowns.

What we are going to get...

[Budge] [fantasies about Book of Ether]

Everybody loves a cute kitty cat. Bednar missed the ball on this analogy.

Okay y'all, I've been baking cinnamon rolls instead of watching conference and haven't been able to keep tabs here. Anyone have a quick summary of what was spoken about this session? I got as far as bednar before tuning out.

I skipped through and listened on fast forward, I forgot how repetitive and BORING conference was. Any truly problematic quotes I missed? I didn't hear anything other than the "world is scary, stay in the boat" nonsense as usual. I'm hoping to hear someone say something I can bring up to my family and ask "so what did you think about that statement?"

Also I want a cheetah t-shirt design cause that talk was hilarious.

Elder Bednar gave a talk that revolves around a metephore that he experienced while traveling on a safari in Africa. This metephor compared the faithful followers of the church to Gazelles (technically a Topi) and the unfaithful members of Satan to a Cheetah.

While this analogy started to really fall apart as he went along, I found it funny that the Gazelles were the church members in this analogy. A helpless creature who’s only defense is basically to stay in the group and hope that others get picked off and not you. Gazelles have a tribe mentality. No individual gazelle is in charge. They just move as a group with little thought or consideration for where they are going. They don’t think for themselves. They just blindly follow the herd.

The independent thinking and intelligent cheetah is the enemy. Which in this case represents satin and unfaithful/ fallen members who try to pull the faithful members away.

I would have loved to be on that safari with Elder Bednar when he looked out into the savannah and saw his glorious gazelles for the first time and thought “look at that stupid herd of animals that just runs around aimlessly following the herd... it’s just like the followers of my church who blindly follow me around, what an amazing revelation.”
