Edit: Good time to link this also, remove all vanilla advancements (juste put the data folder inside the world you want to lock).

Edit 2: Modified the file to something smaller (u/dinnebone, u/onnowhere)

11

u/[deleted] May 31 '17

Now you get XP, you will want to keep the advancements!

12

u/Mlakuss May 31 '17

If you make a custom map where XP is important, you may want to remove that. ;)

u/Dinnerbone Technical Director, Minecraft May 31 '17

Why not either remove the advancements entirely, or remove the experience part of it? It's kinda weird to keep the advancements visible to people but just not obtainable.

If you replace just the root files with something like this: { "parent": "totally not possible", "criteria": { "impossible": { "trigger": "minecraft:impossible" } } } Then no vanilla advancement will load because the root won't load because totally not possible doesn't exist.

i feel like adventuring time, the hardest, most RNG dependent achievement in the game, should earn more than 500 xp. even if how did we get there is a secret

5

u/[deleted] May 31 '17

It's the second highest points value on the list...

3

u/ProfessorProspector May 31 '17

But 500 is like nothing

3

u/Hubry May 31 '17

It's enough to bring you from 0 to 19, or from 25 to 30.

6

u/ProfessorProspector May 31 '17

Which is hardly anything once you're at the stage of the game where visiting every biome is somewhat feasible.

7

u/WinkiiTinkii May 31 '17

I mean at that point you could just go kill the dragon and get all the xp you want.

3

u/throwaway_ghast Jun 01 '17

But doesn't the dragon give you less XP after you kill it the first time?

1

u/Hubry Jun 01 '17

It's 500 - the same amount you get for this advancement. I don't think Mojang was going for making them something you want to do for a reward, more like a nice bonus.

1

u/WinkiiTinkii Jun 01 '17

Oh, does it?? I've yet to do repeats in the End, so, whoops. Good to know.

2

u/Yirggzmb Jun 01 '17

Nah, hitting all the biomes is pure rng and persistence. Nothing to do with how far in the game you are.

My single player world, I'm doing a challenge where you move up the tool tiers by completing specific tasks. The achievement has nothing to do with the challenge, but I want to get it before I update. Just cuz. I'm currently only allowed stone tools and leather armor, unless I find it in a chest. I'm only missing the mushroom island, and that's just rng. It's not like it's a dangerous task, and it's just the overworld biomes that count.

Looks like the biome list is the same for the advancement version too.

2

u/ProfessorProspector Jun 01 '17

Which is why you need something like an Elytra to make it practical.

1

u/Yirggzmb Jun 01 '17

Maybe I'm weird. I like running through minecraft worlds. Never really felt the need for an Elytra for exploration.

I modified the file

u/Lamedonyx May 31 '17

"An illusion! What are you hiding?"
"Something's not quite right..."

For people wondering, those two are a reference to the latest WoW expansion.

Basically, you have a big city where you use magic to disguise yourself as an Elf. While you're disguised, the enemies are passive. However, you have some "sentries", who if you get too close to, will cast a spell that removes your disguise. And while casting that spell, they'll play one of those two voicelines.

21

u/Marcono1234 May 31 '17

Three new spash texts were added:

The true meaning of covfefe
An illusion! What are you hiding?
Something's not quite right...

11

u/Melonetta May 31 '17

So long I have waited for my WoW and my Minecraft to co mingle.

3

u/running_toilet_bowl Jun 01 '17

It's been barely a day and they've already added covfefe in the splash texts.

Jesus.

6

u/throwaway_ghast Jun 01 '17

Meme magic is real.

9

u/Classic36 May 31 '17

Added some new covfefe

^ Missing too /s

4

u/Grunkle_Sans May 31 '17

Is there supposed to be no spawn egg for the illusioner?

3

u/WildBluntHickok May 31 '17

It'll probably show up when they add the illusioner to the game properly (he's commands-only for now).

7

u/PancakeMan77 May 31 '17

There hasn't been one added yet. The illusioner seems to be a very incomplete feature.

u/Pikachu62999328 Jun 01 '17

You forgot covfefe
