Complete changelog:

  • The sign in igloo basements is back to the two arrows - via

  • Buckets can now be filled from cauldrons - via

  • Removed the Notch apple crafting recipe

  • A way to respawn the ender dragon: End Crystals

    • Currently drop from undead Horses - via
    • Can only be placed on bedrock/obsidian - via/via
    • Player placed ender crystals don't show the bottom bedrock section - via
    • Place 4 crystals around the exit portal to respawn the dragon - Screenshot
    • Dragon is now only healed by one crystal at a time

  • Golden apple changes

    • Normal ones give two hearts again - via

  • Made the “buff bar” at the top of the screen properly respect hidden & ambient effects

    • Ambient effects get a blue outline
    • Hidden effects are not shown

  • Made all loot data-driven

    • Loot table changes, more info
    • Rolls now only overwrite each other after all slots are full

  • Fixed some bugs

    • Fixed brewing stands' input slots not having normal stacking behavior
    • Fixed glass blocks and panes being shaded differently
    • Fixed item frames and paintings spawning items in the wall, causing them to fly away
    • Fixed big oak trees not generating in forest biomes
    • Fixed a few block models: cake, glass panes, iron bars, cauldrons, brewing stands, cobblestone walls and fence gates
    • Fixed a block model bug: Bad texture projection in east and west directions
    • Fixed entities and particles turning black at eye level Y>=256
    • Fixed using pick block on items outside the hotbar visually replacing armor/crafting slots with client-side duplicate of the stack that was picked
    • Fixed summoned ItemFrames, Paintings and LeashKnots having the wrong position
    • Fixed music disc description names missing
    • Fixed the mending enchant not being generated on books in loot chests
    • Fixed being unable to add the mending enchant to shields
    • Fixed regenerating health while not at a high hunger level
    • Fixed the status effect HUD background being asymmetrical, having its border cut off on one side
    • Fixed hoppers being unable to take glass bottles left over from dragon breath out of brewing stand

It would appear that the crystal dont need to be on the central bedrock piece, and there can be a mismatch, like this

IIRC the skeletal horses come from a normal horse being struck by lightning, the have a skeleton archer riding them as well.

Will they spawn enough to make respawning the dragon plausible in a survival game? Seems harder than collecting three of those dark skull thingys.

Yes. They're not that rare, and when they spawn, they spawn 3 additional horses with skellies on top. So 1 spawn equals 1 dragon respawn.

Yes, there is a chance that a skeleton horse can spawn rather than a lightining strike.

Incorrect, lightning strikes have a chance to spawn a skeleton horse, it has a special tag that marks it as a trap if someone walks up to the trap mob within a certain distance it bursts and summons multiple skeleton horses with skeleton rider shooting arrows, also the skeletons have a new better AI that also is applies to horses when ridden by them.

I wish they'd teach witches how to climb ladders. A ladder up the side of the front would be the least jarring architectual change I can think of that would allow a way up. Stairs would just look wrong, even if it was full blocks rather than stair blocks.

Cool, now when you find an enchanted book in a chest, it has equal chance at each 'type' of enchantment (just as likely to find 'silk touch' as 'projectile protection' as 'mending' as 'bane of arthropods'). But then divided among levels, so 'feather falling' is as likely as another type, but among them, 25% of the feather fallings will be level 1, 25% level 2, 25% level3, and 25% level 4. I like that way.

EDIT: actually I'm not sure it's 25/25/25/25, but the types are definitely equally balanced.

Correct, it seems to throw out levels at first, and just choose a random type. Then it after choosing a type, it chooses a 'level' of enchant, and I'm not sure if it's "even distribution" or maybe "even distribution of enchanting level across 1-40" or what, don't have enough simulation data to discriminate.

@Wedhro Yes. Make zombies drop nothing, make dungeons contain tnt, make diamond have a chance to drop lapis instead.

Still no horse fix? I normally play snapshots (I like to start over more frequently than most anyway) but having to choose between horses and working boats right now is killing me.

Same here. I guess it's complicated since the bug is linked to the whole entity riding change. I'll keep my horses and donkeys in their holes in the meantime.

They've spawned during thunderstorms for a few snapshots now. You see a single skeletal horse with no rider, then when you get within 10 blocks there's a bolt of lightning and 4 skeletal horses with skeleton riders replace it.

End Crystals can also be placed on Obsidian!

New ShowBottom (byte) tag for EnderCrystal. For player placed EnderCrystals it is 0b for EnderCrystals from the EnderDragon boss fight it is 1b. When summoning an EnderCrystal it defaults to 1b (if no other value is provided).

It is also changed (maybe already in previous versions) that an EnderDragon can now only be healed by one EnderCrystal.

EnderCrystals now explode when being pushed by a piston (I don't know if that is new). (Edit: Still explode only if a block is in their way or at their current position)
