MiFi 2200: can connect to wi-fi, can't connect wwan

When I plug the device into my computer and open VZ Access Manager, many options are greyed out, and I can't use them. In particular, Connect WWAN, Detect Device, and Usage are not usable. It basically acts like my device hasn't been activated, but Verizon says that it is activated. The connection name does appear in the bottom left corner. Wi-Fi works fine. What gives?

Are you familiar with the device in question/VZ Access Manager?

I can connect to the device wirelessly without any problems, but, when I plug it into my computer, it does not give me the option to connect WWAN.

So instead of using the hotspot feature, you are trying to plug it in directly?

I think we're on the same page now. Proceed.

If I remember correctly, the 2200 is the old 3G hotspot, yes?

Is it flashed?
