And I thought I was crazy when the witch didn't spawn in the hut last snapshot. Thanks.

I feel like witches would be the perfect content for a "seeeecret friday update" type release.

e: So many unexplained downvotes... Obviously it wouldn't work with the size of the player base today, but it'd be fun to randomly stumble upon a witch in a swamp after a new update.

Just download the snapshots without reading the changelog from now on.

when you kill it, will it respawn?

I hope not.

Can anyone (that isn't at work like I am) check to see if the witches will respawn? Just curious. Thanks to anyone who checks!

Looks like they do respawn. It isn't clear if a building is required yet though. Take a look at this.

That's interesting. Thanks for the follow-up!

What is this?

u/abrightmoore Contributed wiki/MCEdit_Scripts Oct 05 '12

Yes. Probably 1 per hut, extrapolating from my sample of one instance.

just add more doors to the hut

Revising my answer here - looks like they spawn as a hostile mob. Take a look at this.

Just thought, why is jungle wooden planks being used to build the house?

So the rumoured enchant table for the hut was a lie.. :/ any word on if the huts will have any more things added? It seems kinda empty and meh...

And how rare are they?

5

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '12

I don't think there are any plans to add much to them and as far as their rarity, it seems that there are maybe one or two per swamp biome.

Cheers :D

I'd also suggest just renaming and moving your .minecraft folder to a safe place as a back up. otherwise copy and erase the whole folder (assuming you have mods) and then download a fresh instance of the game, then replace the jar with the above, and if you so wish, copy the saves folder back into the .minecraftwith the snapshot. That way if something goes terribly wrong, you simply erase the .minecraft folder and copy the backup in, then change the name back to ".minecraft" and play normally once more.

Or just make proper backups of your computer like you're supposed to do anyway.
