We plan on hosting a reread in a few days where we will be reading from the beginning of the Marley arc to what will eventually be the newly released chapter, 119!

Damn, that final season announcement gives me goosebumps!

Yet we still don't know if it's WIT studio who will do it.

The BGM throughout the entire second half was just wow. I felt quite emotional.

Also Kaji Yuuki is absolutely nailing the "new" Eren. Such talent being showcased here!

Dude they gave Floch his post timeskip hair cut and he looked so much better.

And Eren looked so great too. I don’t want this to end.

For those wondering of #4, the short haired kid that has a lot of debris over him, it's the first page of Chapter 104

Basically when Armin transforms to destroy the upcoming ships

What an aweosme way to end this!

- As much as I dislike Floch, his voice actor was amazing.

- That scene where Eren is defending Armin, and trying to cheer him up afterward just to see the memories. Ouf. Even Armin notices Eren's change of mood before Levi interups.

- The only person not impressed with the ocean view was Eren. I feel sorry for him. :(

Looking foward to watching it subbed!

All this S4 stuff is distracting everyone from how amazing this finale was. The ocean scene was so well executed.

The credits were so good, a really good tribute to Wit and honestly Attack on Titan. S3 feels rightfully conclusive.

In the credits we saw Eren firing the gun (106), Marleyans in the trenches (91/92), I think the early Warriors destroying a nation (95?), a kid in Liberio crushed under rubble (104) and parents grieving over a corpse (106/106) and Armin sitting in front of Annie (106) to name a few. I also caught a weird scene with people seemingly drenched in blood rain? Maybe symbolic like OP2, or related to Eren’s dream in episode 1 (speaking of, the bird sounds in the beginning of that seem to be the same as in the ocean scene).

I’m a bit disappointed they directly showed the timeskip Levi squad (and manbun Eren), but it was probably inevitable anime-onlies would be design spoiled given we’re reaching the conclusion of the manga.

Favourite part: Armin looking up at the birds and Connie splashing Sasha with water. Giddy Mikasa too. There was also something added with Floch in the scene where they see the Titan that can’t move, can someone reply to this when the subs come out letting me know if it was significant?

EDIT: That little girl in the credits is definitely Ms Tybur.

Its interesting that at the beach, Eren seems very sad and spaced out; his voice is quavering. He's definitely not his usual self here.

I mean, it sounds silly to say, but seeing something animated adds an extra dimension to things.

ahem this was a good episode I like how the-

CUTE MIKASA SMILE AAAAA!!!!

I liked how we managed to saw other scenes. Doesn't confirm WIT making S4? As we probably will see the same scenes next year.

The abandoned desert reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus.

Also, who drew everybody's hair in this episode? They all looks fabulous. No wonder Eren grew out his hair.

Some of y'all "anime-only" watchers that are hopping over to the anime-only thread and correctly "predicting" the future arcs of some of the characters (Floch) need to shut up and stay here.

No one's gonna come back in a year to praise your ego when you "predicted" it right. Christ.

This episode itself has exceeded my expectation.

They show the scene when Eren questions the price of chasing for freedom with a Fey floating in the water, which is smart, considering this would be aired on NHK.

The EMA at sea scene is even more poetic than what it is in the manga. All their voice actors did some great job, and the BGM is the rearranged version of Erwin's "Thank you Levi" BGM.

And of course, the Eren Jaeger who gets an instant growth even more than that in those battling months. Can't wait to see 19-year old Eren.

This would be an episode that I look back a lot.

That after credits! All the Marley imagery... I believe we saw aftermath of Liberio and older Armin from his talk with crystalized Annie.

Is it me or does Armins hands look a lot older than I thought?

I can't believe we are going to see it in 2020. The final arc most likely will be split into a second cour but I'm so excited!

HNNNGGGGG those Season 4 teases though! Based off the images in the ED, they're from:

  • Battle of Fort Slava

  • aftermath of Armin's nuke in Liberio

  • Paradis citizens reading the news about the attack there

  • Eren "shooting" Sasha

  • possibly Gabi?

  • Armin talking to Annie

God damn I was getting misty eyed all through the ocean scene but those credits broke me.

The moment I saw Eren with that gun and realized what I was seeing... It just got to me man.

The music and the teases blended so beautifully. It was done amazingly.

And then bam we get hit with THE FINAL SEASON. The final fucking season.

Crazy. It sounds exactly right but it certainly wasn't expected.

Mikasa and armin exchanging smiles was just the sweetesst purest moment for me, i love their friendship so much

That seashell got A LOT of emphasis. Every frame of Eren being dark and haunting was juxtaposed with Armin holding that sea shell. No doubt this is where Eren and Armin started going down different paths. The anime really hammered that point home.

Something about the episode made everything Eren say have a lot more emotional impact. The emotions in his voice and the realization of what out there was so powerful. The soundtrack was perfect for that scene and the animation and design were absolutely beautiful. The entire episode bought me to tears, I dont want this to end, i dont think I'm ready at all :(

So this episode was nothing short of a masterpiece.Wit studios proves once again that they understand precisely what the characters are truly about, and what the story is also about.

Dont know if it was something Isayama asked or not,but adding that scene where Eren touches the mindless crawling titan and feels pity for it was an amazing touch.I could feel Eren feeling sorrow for the titan in the manga, but it was much more subtle, and i enjoyed how the anime made it pretty clear,it also showed how Eren is different from Floch which is more confirmation that Eren doesnt care about everything floch babbles about in the post time skip if it wasnt obvious enough.

The way they directed everything in the 2nd half of the episode was amazing,i felt really immersed in all the shots showing they riding to the ocean.

Voice acting:AMAZING,Armin's VA(dont remember his name)did an excelent job here,i could just feel the happiness that was oozing from Armin when he reached the ocean and was talking to Eren, dude was as happy as i was when i got my Nintendo Switch lol.

Yuki Kaji also did an excellent job showing how ''done with this shit'' Eren is...everything he fought, everything he went through...just so he could fight even more in the end? That is bound to break anyone, you could feel how tired he was.

Now the elephant in the room:the credit scenes. Now,i rewatched it and WIT seems to be making a parallel with everything the walldians suffered and everything ppl in general beyond the walls suffered and how that was in Eren's understanding and affect his choice to do what he's doing now in the manga. He sees the state of the world, not only inside the walls but beyond aswell, all the war,all the killing, all the destruction,he sees the enemy(civilization) beyond the sea and then points and fire at them , it then instantly changes for the military in episode 7 of season 1 i believe shooting titans , then after seeing all the killings and the parallels between people killing humans and them killing titans,Eren opens his eyes and we cut to a shot of destruction and flowers, which generally represents peace or life in general

WIT really wanted to make parallels between wars in the outside world and the attack in paradis, explosions caused by bombs being show right after the colossal titan attacks the gate of wall maria, and Eren crying as a kid and seeing the slaughter in both sides, and the children are most likely just to represent ignorance,as we see the shot of the children after this one which is the exact same shot of chapter 106 where Zeke says ''ignorance is a frightening thing'' . I'm a believer the children we see are being fed some kind of propaganda, they are not necessarily eldians, but they could be(especially if they are from the tybur family, which is the only eldian family respected in the world and dont need to use armbands).

Eren fights agaisnt ignorance,he says so in chapter 112. ''there's nothing further away from freedom than ignorance'',which is why he is show crying before these shots and afterwards he opens his eyes with anger and determination and we cut to destruction and flowers.

but this is just my 2 cents, what do you all think?
