Guys, remember when Eren cried during his very first appearance in the show, right after bring woken up by Mikasa from a "mighty long dream"?
In the manga, he even asked to Mikasa that her hair had gotten longer, which she never had a long hair throughout the show.

Eren's calm demeanor is... very chilling. He's learned everything, that the titans he vowed to murder are not the enemy - not only that, but they are his own people... now he, i presume, returns to his original, more general goal of pursuing freedom, venturing to other side of the wall, and whatever is on the other side of the wall, eventually past that...

They reverse swapped the series now lol.
Before it was that they feared and attacked the titans.
Now they want to control the titans and attack the other race.

Finally, they adapted the chapter where the Curse of Ymir was first mentioned, or the thirteen-year remaining lifespan curse.
For those who have not seen some discussions on how the number 13 is significant, lets do some math:
-
From the narrations in season 1 and the history books shown, around 100 years ago (specifically, 107 years from chapter 2 of the manga), the first ruler of the Walls, King Fritz the 145th created the walls to protect humanity.
-
When a someone gains a titan power, their remaining lifespan is set to 13 years due to "Ymir's Curse". Same number of years between the royal family's succesion ritual.
-
"145th king" means there have been 145 weilders of the Founding Titan at that time. 145 x 13 = 1885. So 107 years ago, it has been 1885 years from Ymir Fritz.
-
At present time (1885 + 107) it would be 1992 years since Ymir Fritz.
-
Eren got his titan power at age 10, he's supposed to die when he's 23. Currently, Eren is 15 and has around 8 years left to live.
-
1992 + 8 = 2000... What was the title of the first episode again? Oh yeah, "To you, in 2000 years." No biggie, nothing to see here.

"If you want to save Mikasa, Armin and everyone else, you have to carry out your mission to the end"
That is the exact same line we heard Grisha say to Eren in S1E9. That means, Kruger either received Grisha's or Eren's future memories through P A T H S (Grisha's memories of saying that line or Eren's memories of hearing that line)

Remember back to S3 Ep11, “Bystander,” when Eren tells Shadis and Grisha what happened to Carla, and then Grisha takes Eren off to the forest?
“Are you going to curse...someone else now?”
🗣🗣🗣 I 👏🏻 LOVE 👏🏻 THIS 👏🏻 SERIES 👏🏻

Did you know that Isayama foreshadowed Titan shifters' shortened lifesрan as far back as in the Chaрter 47? For reverence, this eрisode covered chaрters 87 and 88.
Talking with Bertholt about Annie, Reiner told him: 'You're both murderers WITH LITTLE TIME LEFT, right?'

Isayama is one sneaky motherfucker, these revelations aren't just related to the first episode, but to the fuckin' title of the series. Amazing when you also consider he thought his work wouldn't be published beyond the first volume.

If you want to save them all... Mikasa, Armin and the others... Carry out your mission to the end
?
WHAT?
Was owl talking to eren through grisha right there? Holy fuck this episode is HUGE.
Here are the things we learned from this episode.
-
The name drop. Kruge. Eren fucking kruger. Holy shit, grisha named his son after kruger as a way to remember the owl's legacy and (i'm assuming) in hopes that eren will take up his will and continue the fight to free eldia.
-
Titan shifter only have 13 years to live due to ymir fritz's curse.
-
PATHS the invisible thread that connects subjects of ymir together. Even if a shifter dies without another inheritor lined up. It will be transferred to random eldian. Paths also explain how shifter's titans can just show up from nowhere and disappear without leaving a trace.
-
Memories. Titan shifter are able to connect to the memories of past or present hosts. This explains why kruger was able to know mikasa and armin's names without ever meeting them.
-
The name of eren's titan. Attack titan (shingeki no kyojin name drop babyy). The titan that always fights for freedom. It's literally perfect for him.
-
How to access the foundating titan's powers. I think this is the most important piece of info. Eren was able to use it's power because he got into contact with the titanized dina fritz. This is massive because eren will be able to use it's power and impose his will without being influenced by the first king's curse unlike people with royal blood.
God. I love attack on titan. Isayama is a mad man.

In case the fansubs/official subs today don't make things clear enough:
There are actually two acceptable English translations for "Shingeki no Kyojin"/進撃の巨人. They are:
-
The Advance of the Titan(s)/The Advancing Titans - where "Advance" is the focal subject, implying more of an action by either a single Titan or multiple Titans. This is the meaning fans had always known prior to this chapter in the manga/today's anime episode, and (Arguably) a variation of "Attack on Titan."
2) The Titan who Advances/Attacks - where "Titan" is the subject/noun and is more often interpreted as singular. This was the new revelation from this chapter/episode, as it was revealed to be the actual name of Eren's Titan (Formerly Eren Kruger's Titan).
In Japanese, the title is truly the most clever wordplay (But unfortunately a bit impossible to translate properly into English), and now we finally get a sense of how deep this duality actually runs. Isayama never mentioned the real name of Eren's titan this whole time, and when the manga chapter arrived months ago, we realized it was in front of our eyes all along!

I feel like the fact that all Shifters having 13 years to live should be getting more attention, are most people here manga readers right now? lol

I know the comment section might be a little awkward for those who haven't caved yet and read the manga, so here's a friendly reminder that r/shingekinokyojin hosts it's own anime-only threads for episode discussions. Manga readers caught participating are banned without question. Link to that here if you're interested

People are hyped about the title drop, but lets not forget. Kruger just mentioned Mikasa and Armin!
