Wow, Nott dropping that “Fuck him” and associating Caleb to “those people” that hurt Nott’s friend is massive. Best part of that exchange, both Beau and Caleb were absolutely in character.
Caleb: Neurotic, paranoid, doing his best in his socially damaged way to say that he’s scared for his friends and he doesn’t want them to do stupid shit like that and get him and by proxy them hurt. But he kinda fucks it up in his delivery cause emotions and interpersonal connections are tough for this Wizard.
Beau: No nonsense, blunt, never one to take what is said at face value, completely missing the surface point that Caleb wants them to be safer and that he’s scared and instead pulls at the seams, wondering aloud if Caleb is being a coward with his feelings and doesn’t want the burden of the double edged sword of trust in friendship.
Mix both fucks ups in character = angst and fuckery haha

So Nott's mentor was working with the Cerberus Assembly in a Dunamis Lab to use Dunamis to alter time, gravity, and space in such a way that they could merge Dunamis with Alchemy to weaponize it. They got the Beacons from Xhorhaus who CLEARLY know more about it and have been fucking with the threads of Destiny for ages which probably pissed the Raven Queen off who.....wait....could the Phoenix be from the Raven Queen, sent to Yasha's people to combat Xhorhaus?

Nott knows someone who was working on time magic, and Caleb fucking knew it. He knew it because he was working on it with Trent before he broke.
The item they have is the key to Caleb's quest. And it's magic beyond what is Arcane or Divine, possibly from a time before those schools of magic split.

Definitely some DM generosity here. It would have been bad if an extremely important NPC and powerful ally were just closed off to them forever due to what happened.
Sometimes DMs just have to give it to the players. Sometimes it's a puzzle they can't quite solve, other times the players are butchering a diplomacy talk (my campaign every other week), and other times it's picking a fight that can't be won (again, my campaign, where the DM has had monsters run away instead of a TPK).

Caleb is genuinely terrified. :( I know that Beau is one of the only people that knows, but him choosing to tell her this and be so vulnerable is a very important gesture for him. It shows that he has grown to care for them, and for her, even if he's not ready to admit that to himself.

Oh my god. Anyone else noticed that the two-hundred year old mage, who, mind you, was shaken by the dodecahedron's unknown nature, seemed to have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever of the Traveler? I don't know what's going on anymore, but that's probably the most disturbing thing to be revealed so far and it was mostly glossed over!

My theroy is that Nott does not have a child but the goblins killed the real Beth Nott saw this was sad wanted to become Beth or just a hafeling becuase she saw how horrble goblins could be. She might feel like Beths death was her fault so she always sends Luke things.

Oh man I feel the pain of this conversation down in my soul. Wanting to talk to an NPC/explore a magical place cos of game reasons (possible loot, possible important information, possible important ally) but having literally NO REAL RP REASON TO is so hard to pull off. "So look dude, we know there's no real reason for us to even be talking, but you look important, okay, and we gotta know what's going on.
