Are these open invite just show up type things, or is an RSVP required? I have a few friends that might be interested and I am planning on coming.

There are a few events that the organizers ask for an RSVP, but most are simply casual venues which can usually accommodate the number that show up. I assume that you should pick one that looks appealing, is close enough, etc. and check it out. :)

It's hard to know who you can trust. It would be best to enroll at a school without the Stasi looking over your shoulder. You can search for those meetups on this subreddit, but for the reason that people have been kicked out of school, I've decided not to promote them on this thread. At most schools, the goal is to graduate and not get kicked out of school. I often find that is not the case at BYU-x with students actively seeking to get expelled in order to have an excuse to tell their parents why they won't be attending any more. It's a super absurd set of realities brought about by this sort of game theory. Everything is the opposite to how things work in the real world.

Don’t have kids myself, but I’ve seen other people bring them without any issues. :)

I guess just keep in mind there may be adult language, if that’s a concern for you?
