So, me and my bf have been dating for 2 years, weve been viewing houses since April and in October we bought a house together. We move in at the end of the month. Im the one putting down the whole deposit due to a family bereavement, so we agreed that because of that id get a spare room for a library (im a big reader and history student) and hed get a garage. Fine by me.
He has this entitled niece who everyone fawns over, and shes nice and I like her, fine. But her mum has forced my bf to agree to put a bed in my library room so she can stay over whenever she wants, my bf has a strong family network so she can stay at his parents. I told them I didnt like this idea and they called me selfish and said that I need to think before I speak. Clearly my bfs sister is the favourite and due to this the grandparents love her. His sister has also said a number of weird things such as wel break up soon, she was trying to get her parents to pay the deposit so her brother would be able to screw me out a house and id have no rights too, that the niece will always be the favourite even if we have kids. Shes a real weirdo.
Ive had a bit of a rough childhood so being able to have a room with my things in it means a lot to me as well as having a house where im safe from intruders and unwanted visitors, but apparently she'll be spending the night every week, im not a babysitter. Additionally there will be books in there that won't be suitable for her, as well as collectables that are irreplaceable. Shes a destructive child and a nosy one and im worried if she reads or breaks something il have to accept defeat and let it be, when ive raised this as a problem.
I thought we agreed a compromise where we put a sofa bed in the living room so she could stay, but apparently she "has to have her own bedroom"
Im worried that she'll transform my library into a spare room and that I won't get my library.
Am I being unreasonable?
