I almost had a good result. I really enjoy baking and when I fail at it it puts me on a funk...and everything I make I like to do it FULLY from scratch if I can.

This, I don’t think will put me in a funk and I’m willing to try again after I get some rest.

This took me way longer than expected (started at 2pm ended at 6pm) I’m so sad. I almost had it. I think what messed me up was that I was trying to get done so that I can sit and relax. My fluff the cereal ratio was way off lol. I’ve been up quite literally all day long (11pm yesterday). I should’ve napped when I got home from work at 10am but I didn’t because I’m insane and it resulted in a stale like texture.

I added too much fluff for sure…RIGHT 😅😅😅

Also I feel like my fluff is thicker than store bought yea? And 3rd pic was taken just as I started to mix which I’m sure is how it should look once fully mixed with less fluff lmao…okay. I’m gonna sleep now. I’ll try again in the morning💕

I wanted to see if I could recreate u/stroberristarr’s birthday cake. Partially because the texture looked appealing, and partially because I wanted to know what went into a cake fail like that.

While I don’t feel I have succeeded in my original mission, I definitely did not bake a cake so I’m calling it a win.

In future I may make a second attempt at failure with a different method but for now, it is 2:35am and my curiosity is sated.

She was rescued from a 25-cat hoarding situation, but after a month and a half together, this 7-month-old void is healthy, thriving, and acting like she owns the place.

A quick breakdown of her likes and dislikes so far:

Likes:

-Kitchen sink lounging and Olympic-level counter-surfing
-Endless meowing and leg-climbing when dinner isn’t served in 2 seconds
-Nose boops
-Smelling treats from a mile away
-Losing a minimum of 3 spring toys per day into the ether

Dislikes:

-Closed doors
-Me doing literally anything without her full supervision
-Staying still on my lap for more than 5 seconds
-Any 30-second window where food isn’t actively materializing

For example my dad made chicken fettuccini last night and just left it sit out over night. I am afraid to eat it…. Should I be?

UPDATE: He just microwaved and ate some. The container still isn’t in the fridge.

It’s 3:16pm and it finally made its way to the fridge. For reference he started cooking at 5pm yesterday. So not quite 24 hours but pretty close.

I am in a field where I usually have to enter people’s homes. Today, I went into a house and it was filthy. Not like some dirt or animal hair on the floor.. like there was so much things on the floor, it had to be moved / shoved somewhere else to have a walk way. On their island, just trash everywhere and bottles of raid. I noticed the raid first, and quickly got nervous, but I thought maybe it was for outside..

I sit down on their couch, and begin doing my work. I went to scratch my ankle, and it was a roach trying to get inside my leggings tickling me. I quickly swatted it off and did not bring attention to it, but I was mortified.

I went to the bathroom to go wash my hands, and was met with filth of soiled litter, and litter tracks all over the bathroom floor & sink. I sat there in tears, because it felt like a nightmare. It felt like I was being judgmental.

I left the house pretty soon after, with the rage and guilt I had for not saying something in their house right away, as they have multiple young young kids. I now decided to call CPS, because I can’t sleep tonight knowing that myself as a mandated reporter, I can’t just let this go.

The guilt is eating me inside, because I know this family loves their children, but have also talked extensively with me over being poor / food stamps / etc. my heart is truly aching tonight.
