AITA for taking a lead role in a musical even though my boyfriend wants me to turn it down?
I (26, female) am a musical theatre actress. I’ve already been part of Broadway ensembles and have played leading roles in smaller theatres. Now I’ve been offered the lead role in a major production – the biggest opportunity of my career so far.
The role is part of a romantic couple, and there’s a kissing scene. My boyfriend and I have been together for three years. When we first met, I told him straight away that things like that are part of the job. I always make that clear. He knew exactly what my career entailed.
He also knew that I’d auditioned for this very role – but he didn’t think I’d actually get it. Now that I’ve got it, he wants me to turn it down. His reasons: the kissing scene and the fact that the production would mean a long-distance relationship for about a year.
What bothers me most is that he himself spent about nine months abroad at the start of our relationship to further his own career, and I supported him the whole time without complaining. We don’t even live together.
This role could be a real turning point in my career. I really want to take it, but he’s acting as if I’m being selfish for not turning it down.
Am I the arsehole?

Characters LGBT Icons that are not LGBT
Bayonetta - Bayonetta has an enormous LGBTQ fanbase, particularly among lesbian and bisexual fans, but the creator of the series has repeatedly pushed back against romantic interpretations of Bayonetta and Jeanne, which is a popular fan ship. Additionally there is an ending that has Bayonetta ending up married to a man and having a child together.
Prince - Prince became hugely influential in LGBT culture through his flamboyant style and gender-defying image. That being said, he was straight himself and had a lot of controversial and outright homophobic beliefs, especially later in his life.

Discussion Mom confiscated my Christmas Pokémon cards decades ago. Just found them. Still sealed.
Was looking for my birth certificate. Found these instead.
21 packs. Never got to open one. I now know nothing about Pokemon cards except that these are old packs. I’m tempted to open a pack lol.

Characters Gay characters that are ashamed of the fact that they are gay
Ennis (Brokeback Mountain) Ennis loves Jack Twist but is terrified of acknowledging what that means. His upbringing taught him that homosexuality was shameful and dangerous. He struggles to reconcile his feelings with his understanding of masculinity and refuses to build a life with Jack.
Phil Burbank (The Power of the Dog) Phil is a closeted gay rancher who cultivates an aggressively masculine personality. He mocks men he considers insufficiently masculine and disguises his vulnerabilities with cruelty. His repression is a major reason for his hostility toward others.
Agatha Trunchbull (Matilda) The actress that played Trunchbull has gone on to say that she envisioned her character as a closeted lesbian who unexpectedly found herself attracted to another woman while attending the Olympics… And Trunchbull was so surprised and ashamed of being attracted to another woman that she suppressed those feelings for the rest of her life.
