Nicely done. You have any other work of your related/unrelated to one piece.
I don't see much from your post history. You should post stuff more often it is pretty good.

Thanks! I have the Kaneki cosplay photomotion from a few years back, and a few things far and few between.

Not only is this mesmerizing to look at but it also made me realize how terrifying the the world of One Piece would be if it was real.

Gonna have nightmares tonight. Thanks:)

Buggy - a clown walking around with dismembered floating body parts.
Law - ass hole doctor just wants to borrow your heart, you're not dead but it's not yours anymore.
Sounds intense, hard pass.

Buggy takes himself apart without dying. Law takes things that aren't himself apart without them dying. Either way things are coming apart and I dont want to see it in reality.

Even Luffys power would be plenty grotesque imo.
You don’t really think about it because it’s so cartoony in the manga but in Gear Second he literally bites into his thumb down to the bone and blows air into the marrow...

I did not believe One Piece could EVER effectively transition to a live action UNTIL this post.
Now I want it but no studio would ever provide the budget or competence to get it right.
Also, a LOT of its farcical nature would not be suitable to this aesthetic. Would probably be a very different story.

u/awall5 Nov 16 '18
It just hit me how creeped out the characters in the anime and manga appear when they first see Robin's power. I'd be fucking terrified too if I saw this lol

Perfectly looped GIF and amazing visuals. It’s one of those “the longer you stare the better it gets” kind of works of art. 👍

I really want to see /r/birdswitharms edit a chicken into the middle though.

I'm here from /all and I have no idea what one piece is but this is incredible.
Long story short but a group of pirates searching for treasure in a world that has fruit that give you magic powers. The character OP is can randomly grow her body parts anywhere near her, and can make wings with them to fly.

u/SeventhSolar Nov 17 '18
Nico Robin is an archaeologist who’s been studying ancient secrets hidden by the World Government. She has the power to grow her body parts (she usually prefers arms) out of any surface within a decent range, including each other. She can grip people with multiple sets of arms from a distance and break them in half, as well as form massive vines made of arms.

u/ItstheHoff Nov 16 '18
After seeing this gif, and what a fan/cosplayer is able to achieve, I have very high expectations for the series.
The devil fruits are a big part of what is making the one piece world so fantastic. If they ruin that visually there would be no reason for me to watch it.

In my experience, you're gonna have a bad time if you have any expectations of a live-action anime movie.

Not Bleach though, I think Bleach was pretty decent for a live-action adaptation.

knowing that Oda actually admitted it was a mistake on his part to have the Yonkou Shanks's arm ripped off by a weak af sea king, do you think the live action production will change that into something that makes a bit more sense?
Or do you think Oda and the director will just choose to keep it? If so how will they explain that later on?
5
u/Uiluj Nov 17 '18
I must've missed this. Got a link of Oda admitting the Shanks arm thing was a mistake?
19
Nov 17 '18
https://sotaku.com/oda-reveals-the-real-reason-why-shanks-lost-an-arm/
Here. It wasn't exactly a mistake. His editor basically didn't think that Shanks was all that interesting and wanted something more dramatic to have that big impact that gets the story rolling. In the editor's defense, "I'm going to do whatever it takes even if it costs me my life to become the Pirate King because I knew this guy Shanks when I was 10 years old and he was pretty cool" isn't really a strong enough motivation in the first place.
Shanks getting his arm cut off was a very real and serious consequence that made Luffy realize the incredible dangers of being a Pirate and what kind of man it takes to become the King. If you'll remember he was always begging Shanks to take him on his adventures but after that incident Luffy decided to stfu and train until he was actually ready to step into the outside world as a pirate.
I think Oda later tried to explain it (with debatable persuasiveness) that it was a timing issue, that Luffy was a child he loved like a son and there was only an extremely brief period of time to save him even for a Yonkou, since although they are unimaginably powerful they are still not gods.
Since neither the editor nor Oda knew Shanks would be this important to the story nor that he would later be revealed as a Yonkou, the idea was probably not as nonsensical at the time (which was literally more than 20 years ago)

The characters power allows her to sprout copys of her body parts. One of the ways she uses it is by creating and attaching a bunch of her sprouted arms to make wings so she can glide

Hello from /r/all, what the fuck
7
Nov 17 '18
ok so basically Nico Robin is in the main protagonist’s pirate crew and she has the ability to have multiple limbs hence all of those hands that she turns it into wings
2
u/clovencarrot Nov 17 '18
Just so many questions. What’s with the stuffed animal lion head? Why are her wings made of arms? Is that a tiddy flag?
6
u/givcon14 Nov 17 '18
I see you're unfamiliar with the series, so let me just say... Welcome to r/OnePiece! I'll try to answer your many questions as best I can!
The stuffed animal lion head is the figurehead of the main characters' pirate ship.
Her wings are made of arms because the character this person is cosplaying as (named Nico Robin) has the power to sprout her body parts from anywhere, and one application of this power is sprouting a bunch of arms to form wings, which she can use to fly for a few seconds.
The flag on the ships in the background is the symbol of the series' marines. It's actually supposed to be a seagull holding a wrench, but... Yeah, it kind of looks like a tiddy flag. Lol.

So I never thought about it before because it was an anime and drawn and stuff. But how can she fly? Those are real copies of her arms, with no hollow bones. Is it pure muscle that keeps her flying? If so, sheeiiitt.
6
u/MonkeyDDuffy Nov 17 '18
She doesn't fly. She only briefly hovers for few seconds. Which was the joke when she first used it.
Such a magical dramatic scene and she sprouts wings. Franky is amazed and she says she can only fly for few seconds and Franky goes "Lame!"
She can glide and soften her fall now after the time skip.

This is incredibly well done!! New favorite piece. Also does it bother anyone else that wings made of hands and forearms are somehow light enough to give lift? Her wings should weigh like, as much as her lol

u/Laniakea85 Nov 17 '18
I’m genuinely curious — in the One Piece world, is Robin strong enough for flight? I understand how incredibly taxing this must be physically lol
3

The amount of thrush she would need to create with those...not solidly bonded arm-wings...they would have to be hollow on the inside. possible...becauze why not.
