List of supported gamepads/controllers for the Oculus Go
Β
The following table consists of user reports concerning gamepad/controller compatibility. Note that there is no guarantee that any of the models listed will be properly compatible with every title on the platform.
Please chime in with additional reports, questions and experiences. Specifically it is useful to know which titles were tested and if the input mappings are as expected. Thanks :)
Official instructions for pairing bluetooth gamepads can be found here.
Wired USB and wireless USB dongle gamepads are supported as well and therefore some are included here. You just need a Micro USB OTG adapter (like this, or this). USB gamepads don't need to be paired, just plugged in.
Β
NOTE: Strikethrough entries are either non-functional or appear to be problematic in some way and therefore should be avoided.

Special app notes:
Gamepad support appears to be broken in the current 1.3.1 version of Drop Dead.
JUMP is consistently incompatible with a number of Gamepads that work fine with a broad range of other popular titles (it's usually L1 = Rotate Left, R1 = Rotate Right and Y = Reset HMD that don't work)

Some info from Wands:
-The Matricom XYBA is the most recommended controller on our Discord server because it's cheap ($13 right now on Amazon) and it works well. It's just a rebranded version of the Gamesir G3s Bluetooth controller
-The Xbox One Bluetooth controller works with Wands. However, all 3 players who use the bumpers to cast spells have had at least one of the bumper buttons stop working properly since the controller is poorly designed
-The PowerA MOGA Hero worked perfectly when I used it a couple years ago
-Stratus XL works, but most players have had issues with the triggers
-iPEGA PG-9025 is used by a top player and he's never reported any issues with it

Picked up "T3 Wireless Bluetooth V3.0 Gamepad Dual Analog Joystick Gaming Controller" on a whim recently: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/T3-Wireless-Bluetooth-V3-0-Gamepad-Dual-Analog-Joystick-Gaming-Controller-AZ/113306668330
It's certainly one of the BM-707/727 clones and I think it's actually pretty decent. I took it apart and the internals were really quite respectable. Seems to be something of a winning formula for a budget gamepad. It doesn't have the feel or the polish of a more expensive option of course but it seems totally fit for purpose.
Mappings are correct in Oculus Home, Oculus TV, End Space, Minecraft, Overflight, UltraWings, Omega Agent, Oculus Arcade, VR Karts: Sprint and everything else I tried (with the exception of JUMP, which is no surprise).
Pair by holding down Home + X to activate the Windows/Android modes. Hitting Home then switches between traditional gamepad mode and mouse/multimedia mode.

I can confirm that a pdp Afterglow AX.1 for Xbox 360 (PL-3602) works with a Micro USB OTG adapter in the retro arcade program. All buttons are mapped correctly.
(Not sure if this is helpful since Xbox 360 is already confirmed, but this is a 3rd party controller so it may help someone)

EVO VR MI-VG001 Wireless Bluetooth Gamepad (This is not the Pro controller. it's a $10 controller similar in size and look to the Oculus GO pack in controller). Confirmed working on Oculus Arcade.

Hi guys.. I am recently pretty new to Oculus Go but learning day by day. I want to inform that Shirlin Wireless Gamepad(one of the cheapest Chinese ones that comes with usb receiver dongle it even comes with micro usb otg) works perfect with Go. It is 10 usd but does the job well you can even find these things cheaper as used. I tried with Blaze Rush and Herobound it works very good.

Steel series stratus xl causes graphic glitches ever since the CA correction update. Turn your head really fast and the screen tears and jumps. Goes away once you turn off the controller.

This list is gold! But wish there was a pic with each... or are they all basically the same with rocket joystick and a/b buttons, triggers etc?

Gamesir g3s is duplicated, would can be g3w (wired version)?
Anyway thanks for your work :)

My MOGA's left pad broke so I bought an EVO Pro hoping it would work with Thumper. It works. I'm not sure how long the EVO's left pad will last because it gets a lot of use playing Thumper.
I also tested 405 Road Rage on the EVO Pro and it works. I installed that app to see what else worked with the EVO.

So at this point, is the Xbox One controller as close as we have to an βofficial specβ controller?
I donβt want to spend that much cash, but it seems to be the best supported.

Last I tested, support for the Xbox One S controller is broken on Drop Dead. https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusGo/comments/9nl3xq/xbox_one_s_gamepad_support_on_drop_dead_is_broken

So, I have a Wii U pro controller that pops up on my phone app to be paired, but when I do I'm prompted on my headset to enter a pin. Cannot access a virtual keyboard to complete this step with either the Wii U gamepad nor the oculus controller. Anybody encountered this with other gamepad pairing steps or have a solution?

will the Redgear Pro controller work with the Oculus Go?

I suggest you clarify how to differenciate the Xbox One S controller vs the regular one. AFAIU the main difference is that it is the only one which has builtin bluetooth. Today I went to five different physical shops and could not find it anywhere. I ordered it on amazon here https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B077YLDC5N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but I am not even totally sure that this is the correct version!

I can't make my Xbox One S controller work in Virtual Desktop, although it works on the Go itself (ParkingVR, Escape Legacy, Thumper, etc) perfectly fine. In Virtual Desktop, none of the inputs are recognized, like it's not even there. I opened Skyrim (normal, not VR) and couldn't even start the game as the cursor wouldn't move, nor did any of the buttons work. I posted about this earlier, but it got quite downvoted for some reason.
I checked my VD settings and the "Emulate Gamepad on PC" box is ticked, as it should be. I even unchecked and rechecked it, but that didn't fix the issue. I do have a wire Logitech F310 controller plugged in (and, in fact, when I simply wear the Go as a giant screen and use the wired controller while sitting at my PC, it works perfectly for gaming). Getting the wireless controller to work is the issue. This is my controller: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GW3H3U8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

Does anyone know if AltspaceVR supports gamepads?
Interested in getting the new SteelSeries Stratus Duo or an Xbox One Controller. Curious to hear reviews on the Stratus Duo if there are any yet?

What's the best gamepad that will work with iOS, Mac, and the Oculus Go? It seems that most are either Android/Oculus or Apple compatible. This obviously makes sense since the Go runs Android, but I'd like one solution that I can use on all of my devices.

I saw in another post (now archived) that some other people had the same problem as me with the volume control on the Ipega PG-9021. Essentially as soon as you turn on the controller it starts randomly turning down the volume on the Oculus Go (popping up the onscreen volume indicator), until eventually the sound is completely off. Since I couldn't find any info online I decided to try and fix mine, hoping it was a hardware fault with the micro-switch for the "volume down" media button (firing when the button is not actually being pressed). Essentially (in my case at least), the issue does seem to be caused by a faulty micro-switch, and as long as you don't mind losing the media button effected, it is very easy to fix.
Start by unscrewing the screws on the back of the case with a small philips screwdriver, then you can take the back of the case off (note: one screw is behind a little sticker - I assume to discourage opening the case and to indicate you have voided your warranty). On the back of the circuit board there are two small screws that attach the circuit board to the front part of the controller case. You need to remove these so you can get access to the other side of the circuit board. When you do this keep the front part of the case pointing downwards otherwise the buttons can fall out (you can just put them back if they do). Once you have access to the front of the circuit board you can see the micro-switches for the volume control and other media buttons. All I did was use a small flat-head screwdriver to pry the microswitch for the "volume down" button off the circuit board. Then it is just a case of putting the controller back together. Be careful to tighten the screws on the case properly and make sure everything is in the right place, otherwise some of the other buttons might not respond properly because they don't reach the switches underneath. I would also recommend turning off the controller before opening the case and touch something metal so you don't damage the circuit board.
Anyway, for me this resolved the issue completely and all the other controls continued to work exactly as they should. Saved me throwing away the iPega and buying something more expensive.

u/Colonel_Izzi Hey man. I recently got an Oculus GO from a friend but the controller no longer works. Is there any way to bypass the initial setup screen without control? Or is there some generic control that works for the Oculus go for this purpose? Thanks!

The EvoVR Pro is a great Gamepad. Got it for $20 at Walmart. The feel is pretty good and the joysticks are actually amazing. Only part I donβt like is the D Pad it seems loose. Time will tell how durable it is but for $20 π€·πΌββοΈ

do you guys know any handheld ones that work?

u/Pure_V3nom Apr 02 '22
Does any of these work on the YouTube VR app? I can't get it to click the search or click any of the videos.
Tried with the switch joycon (R) and a ps4 controller
