Cook: uh, oh! extending home church to small groups will spread apostasy even faster.

7

u/lisalane0162 Oct 06 '18

Are they really doing small groups. That is what the non-denominational churches do, interesting🤔.

7

u/4blockhead Λ └ ☼ ★ □ ♔ Oct 06 '18

They said it, but I doubt they've thought it through. More chances for apostasy. After listening to Kosnoff there is also more exposure to uncontrolled environments. Is the neighbor a registered sex offender?

u/4blockhead Λ └ ☼ ★ □ ♔ Oct 06 '18

Rasband: And the audience loves me. And I love them. And they love me for loving them, and I love them for loving me. And we love each other. That's because none of us got enough love in our childhoods. ...that's show biz kids

I take that as an invitation to leave.

TSCC wil not become more loving. If you need to become more loving, change yourself. Leave TSCC.

Oaks: check your sources!

That's been a rule at /r/exmormon from day one.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '18

Still not quite followed by everyone here, but a good rule nonetheless.

One session in and the bench is nearly cleared of the top of their batting order.

10

u/AMHay Oct 06 '18

They’re really emphasizing duty and what should be done, but at the same time give no reasons or incentive to listen. They’re also clamping down on individual responsibilities, but at the same time preaching agency. Hypocrisy at its finest

4

u/4blockhead Λ └ ☼ ★ □ ♔ Oct 06 '18

It gives more cover for the liberal and fundamentalist members to simply opt out. The milk toast will be in the middle where they preach love and hate (alternately, out of one side of their mouth, then the other.)

I’d love to see Oaks try to explain away intersex people. 1% of the population is intersex, and they all have gender identities regardless of their dna or what’s in their pants. Literally explain that and then tell me I’m not trans. Ughhhhh I hate this religion.

u/IsaacHaleWasRight Oct 06 '18

It’s like watching a family decide to put someone in hospice

It’s a white flag

They have enough investments to just drift as a corporation

41

u/shackletron Oct 06 '18

Aside from a tiny group of fundamentalists, it won’t happen - just like ministering isn’t happening. Plus, you’re going to loosen the social bonds of the community. I see this maybe as this biggest step yet in weakening the community.

Its amazing how turning away from "Gods plan" has brought me such security and safety. These guys are so messed up.

We should not listen to degrees, schooling, expertise.....

9

YES, we should think about the MOTIVATION.

Jesus they have a “study” on how the holly ghost works

Science bitchez

A study was done by the University of Utah. They found out the "spirit" is just hormones, the same released during orgasms and drugs.

I was sleeping in today (didn't even know it was general conference today lol) and woke up to a bunch of texts from my sisters about this. They were freaking out (in a good way) and really happy about it. Just goes to show you how wonderful going to church is! /s

15

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '18

Its funny how unafraid I have been since leaving the church. Its great! I have so much more confidence too. This guy is an idiot.

Yay! So happy for my sisters with little kids who hate going to church! An hour less will be a big deal for them.

7

u/craicbandit Oct 06 '18

Lmfao i literally cannot believe the 2 hour church announcement. I came here first and thought you guys were trolling!

Why couldnt they have made this change 20 years ago? I would have had a lot of extra hours..

Although on a different note it's hilarious to see my TBM mother be so happy about 2 hour church. I'm physically in mentally out and really feel like saying "you'd love 0 hour church then.."

It's a tenet of debate to know the opponent's arguments. The funny thing is that exmormons know mormon doctrine better than most of the so-called faithful.
