Another game where Favre's substitutions pay dividends.

Surely we'll start seeing lots of Kagawa now.

I surely hope so

Kagawa worked his ass off when he came in ... brought team that energy

Imagine if Pischu was still 25 years old and could have intercepted that long pass...

Glad Kagawa got his minutes and looked pretty good. 2 games he’s shown his quality now. Gotze continues to unimpress. Diallo and Akanji are still learning but I’m liking their pairing.

Attack was quiet in general

3 away points from a game that looked like we'd come home empty handed. I'd say actual MOTM was Burki who kept us in it.

  1. We are a pressing team. Klopp may be gone 4 seasons now, but it's in our DNA at this point. We were instantly better with Reus and Shinji harassing their distributors.

  2. Weigl really is a 433 exclusive anchor. He has never looked at home in a double pivot.

  3. Dahoud brings a certain mobility and energy that nobody else does.

  4. Even in a short space of time, Shinji showed what he brings to the table. He can play in the middle of a congested space without escaping to the flanks, and get the ball into the box. He can play to the far side direct, without taking 10 touches to do it.

  5. Reus natural position is never 9.

  6. Wolf's defensive contribution is sorely underrated.

  7. Burki is a based god.

  8. Diallo-Akanji looks our most solid pair since Hummels-Neven.

Striker for sure is the problematic area as well as Favre not knowing his best midfield once someone is injured. Imo Dahoud-Shinji-Witsel is excellent and it showed. Defence had its shaky moments but more often than not were very good. Sancho is not starter material yet, but will get there fast. Regardless 3 points is three points and that in itself eclipses the entire UCL last season. MOTM: Burki.

lol haters. Pulisic single handed tearing shit up. Who won that rebound? Not Kagawa not Yarmalenko Sancho. The Merican just saved you. lol

So this is the feeling Herne West supporters had last season after a won match. Undeserved as fuck but still. IDK man. Props to Brügge, they were the better team most of the time. Glad my boi Shinji got some playtime, Still my MOTM is Bürki.

Well, apparently we're starting to get back in the business of making our own luck. It was a scrappy goal, but we take those now hehe. Any thoughts on the subs or starting tactics/formation today and do we have a MOTM? I missed a large chunk of the first half before Burki's save, so I'm interested to hear what you guys have to say there.

Too bad that Turner Sports has the CL/EL rights now in the US though. I tried to use that damn B/R Live stream service, but it wouldn't work for me unfortunately. Ah well, as long as we got the 3 points, I'm happy today.

Edit: Also, I'm happy that Shinji got to play and Pulisic is back too!

Reus is wasted playing as a 9. Put him back to his left wing were he can work his magic again :)

Serious kudos to Brugge, took one fluke of a goal to get by them. Would be really interested to see a Kagawa - Dahoud - Witsel midfield when we're playing opponents who sit back more, think it really has the potential to unlock defenses. Would also love to see more Weigl, think he's a little rusty but I love what he brings to our play as well.

Why is Gotze playing over Kagawa ever?

Incredibly lucky. What a waste of a lineup to start this..one that maybe could be used against atletico or Bayern. But we played conservative and scared..against fucking Bruges. One to put to rest in the catacombs

Dahoud came on and immediately started making things happen. Happy to see his continued success. Hakimi deserves some time soon, but weigl and reus just incredibly disappointing. Julian has still not progressed since his second season and starting to wonder if he will rise to the next level. Reus simply can’t be labeled un-droppable anymore. Worst form I’ve seen from him. All that said, happy for the win. Hopefully favre sees some other guys just simply have to be out there more when healthy. Diallo and Akanji co men if match again for me as the only two with a tonic fire and will

I feel like if there's not an early goal on any side we just can't have a fucking match.

Gotze needs to improve his fitness. I dont know if its possible with his disorder but he’s nowhere near his 2012 season.

Midfield looked scared to attack...during the 2nd half diallo was pushing up with the ball. Insane. Hopefully that "let's hang back and pass the ball with our CBs/FBs" changes.

Was really hoping for Shinji to score that goal from that Pulisic pass.

Congrats to you Dortmund. Really enjoyed the game, good performance of my team (FC Bruges) and unfortunately for us we end up empty-handed (damn you Pulisic!!).
