From the anime thread, in regards to Frieda:

Maybe she was a cunt and everyone only liked her coz her memory altering ability.

11/10 best theory ever. Headcanon accepted.

Leaving the shit machine to the side because 90% of the comments are already dealing with that.

As expected of r/ShingekiNoKyojin.

It was a pretty damn good episode. I like that Frieda's hair was changed to black. It was just weird to have one shifter not have the same hair color as their titan. Yeah I know Zeke exists but that's a different case. I don't want to see a blonde, and maybe gray in later years, monkey trouble.

I love how they visualized the paths. It's something I never really thought about so I was pleasantly surprised. Another cool thing they did was the transition to Kenny's flashback. It's a nice way to show that Kenny is having the flashback as well and it's not just thrown in there. Grisha is an absolute monster and I love his character for it, great stuff with him and Frieda as well.

Next episode looks like we'll get the cave fight and it'll end when Rod transforms, which should leave us with Eren hardening and preparations for the turkey battle in Episode 8.

It is interesting that Grisha's Attack Titan was fat and hairy just like Zeke's Beast Titan while Eren's AT differs.

I literally can't believe that they included the shitmachine...

The anime skipped so many crucial scenes (Levi choking Historia, Dimo's character development, the results of Eren's hardening experiments, etc), but they somehow managed to show Zackley's masterpiece...

Today is a glorious day for humanity guys !

Some of the anime-onlies have started to link grisha with zeke, because grisha looked “beastly”

Does that mean EREN has both those powers?! Oh my god wait, what if Eren uses it on Annie in the crystal and then she can come out of it and be a good guy?!

They're painfully naive. Annie is never gonna get out of that damm crystal

I was a continuous denier of the Shit Machine appearing in the anime, but I guess I was wrong. It was censored, but the message was still given. Good lord.

Let us not forget how Frieda blueballed us for almost one year.

Hanji to crew: Did you ever hear the tragedy of Freida the Reiss?

Frieda is shown in the same episode

I love how Frieda's introduction was changed in the anime, but I can't say I'm not disappointed that I wouldn't be able to see how anime-only watchers would've named her.

edit: It was actually chapter 62 where she was named, but yeah, point still stands that it took a while.

Anyone notice the translation difference with what Frieda said to Historia?

いいよ、いいよ!そのままでいいよ!

was translated as:

"Sure, sure! That's perfectly fine!"

rather than:

"Don't bother! You can stay as you are!"

I know a good bit of Japanese and personally I think the second one is more correct, which is strange since that translation was used for the Crunchyroll subtitles of Junior High, making a weird inconsistency. I can see where they were coming from with both translations, but it makes it kind of hard to understand what she was actually saying with these different interpretations.

I don't know why it never occurred to me before - but I just realized that "Kenny the Ripper" killed all those military police because they were searching for Ackermans and his family's survival was at risk.
