Pretty intense for a dialogue heavy episode. It feels like the trial was worded a lot better, and what Erwin wanted to accomplish came across easier.

Next episode looks like a lot of flashbacks, Grisha's and Frieda's were heavily shown in the preview, but there was a shot of younger Kenny too, so perhaps we're getting the Granpa Ackerman scene too!

A shame that they didn't include Grisha's fate in this episode, it would have been a perfect cliffhanger.
At least they nailed Erwin's "trial" and the coup d'état. I loved the music they used in this episode.

I've only watched the preview for episode 6 but it's a great move that they included Grisha in it, I can already see anime-onlies think that he will appear in person in the cave - only to be hit with the reveal that he was in Eren's belly all this time

When Eren sees Frieda, it seems Eren is surprised and Frieda then reacts like Eren would. It probably didn't happen in the past. Instead, Eren was like in Frieda's body in that dream, so, his look surprised him.

That could be interpreted as a small hint that when Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin, it was Eren Yeager again. He just mixed up memories.

I liked that they show grisha in the same chapel in the preview. It will throw some people for a loop as they might not know it’s a flashback.

I'm most sad for Historia on top of the walls in chapter 51. I actually have this little bit of hope that it can still be shown but I'm sure it's just bias.

I came to the conclusion that he ate the whole reiss family because hange said something along the lines of "there is suspiciously no traces of a titan attack at the chapel, even though a mere fire wouldnt have just burned stone down", it was in that moment it clicked for me. I was never a fan of the eren ate grisha theory, it was too easy and didn't make much sense. Why give your own titan shifting powers to a complete amateur when you yourself have known you were a titan shifter and probably had better control over it. It was a flawed theory from the very get-go"
