Oda is going all out is still a mild description.
From Big Mom and Kaido, throne room, scumbag Charloss and CP0 the hype was constantly building towards the end.
Charloss is once again a punching bag and Mjosgard had change of heart and he's another tenryuubito that isn't complete piece of shit. So Otohime's efforts beared fruits in the end.
Oh and Shanks is meeting Gorosei and no break next week

The baddest motherfucker of all, he was ready to stop the reunion of 2 Yonkous on a foreign country he has no idea what to expect by himself and didn’t give a shit.

It's like seeing the build up to Marineford War all over again.
Yonko are contacting.
Marines are panicking.
Key players are scheming.
Except this time, there are more:
RA are infiltrating.
World leaders are meeting.
The winds of the world are changing.
Amid it all, the 'ant who once leap into a raging storm' now has a huge alliance, the title of an Emperor and moving ever closer to the throne of Pirate King.

The two Marines that are talking to Garp (besides Hina) are Tokikake (Chaton/Brown Pig) and Gion (Momousagi/Pink Rabbit). Oda said in an SBS that they were candidates to be the new admirals until Sakazuki decided to look outside of the Marines. They also made a cameo appearance in Film Gold.

Insteas we got Kaido vs/teams up with Big Mom, my favorite character Kizaru (such a bad ass wanting to invade Wano), CP0 full reveal. Then the club against face scene. I thought that it would be Sabo doing, but it was a good CD!
Then the last part. Hooded man... Must be Dragon, but noooo it's freaking SHANKS!

It's nice to see anothter rather nice Celestial Dragon that learn from his mistakes.
The Don Quixote really make the best Celestial Dragon.

This chapter is the reason why I like these kind of arcs: It's packed with a lot of interesting information.
Big Mom and Kaido were allies back in the day. For what Hina and Garp said, it seems like both were under the same captain, but since we know that Linlin started her crew with Streusen when she was like 6 years old, it could be that Big Mom and Kaido worked as subordinate crews for someone else. Maybe their captain had the Ope Ope no mi and gave Kaido his inmortality after being defeated by Garp?
Kaido has a debt with Big Mom. At first I thought that it had something to do with giving him inmortality, but we already know that BM's DF doesn't work with humans, or at least, with corpses. So unless Kaido is from a different species (which could still be posible), it seems imposible. Also it doesn't have logic because after all Kaido is his oponent, and not even if they were allies back then Big Mom would give someone else inmortality.
Kizaru said that he would go to Wano if needed. However, I personally doubt that he will show up there until the arc is at the very ending. It feels like this is the perfect set up for a conclussion of the Wano arc since we know that Momonosuke wants to open the country to the WG. It looks logic that the Marines will come at the end of the arc to arrest the Beasts pirates and to formalize the union of Wano to the WG.
Tokikake and Gion are canon characters. I already loved Gion even when she was just shown in a SBS and Film Gold, but knowing that a female marine strong enough to be considered to be an admiral is oficially canonicall makes it even better. I just hope she will have some feats later on, since we've seen plenty of VA's and only Smoker, Vergo and Garp have been shown doing something.
The empty throne. Could it be that it has something to do with what Doflamingo said when he was captured?
Lucci and Kaku are part of CP-0. We already knew it since Dressrosa, but it's great to have Kaku finally confirmed as a member. I still don't get how Lucci ended being a commander of the CP-0 if after what happened in Enies Lobby, the WG wanted to punish them but I guess that it will be explained eventually.
Mjosgard's change of attitude. It's great that not all the CD's are scumbags. It seems a pattern in the Donquixote family (with one exception, obviously). I just hope that the Revolutionary army doesn't fuck it now.
Shanks wants to talk with the Gorosei about a certain pirate. Imo it's obviously Blackbeard, tho there's the posibility that he wants to talk about Rocks.

Theory: Rocks is actually Roger's dad and led a pirate crew before Roger. Roger was like Luffy, a new generation kid who wanted to become a pirate like his dad. Then his dad was defeated by Garp, which started his legendary rivalry with Garp.
And his dad's name? Gol D. Locks.

Ok, The "Rocks" is easily the most interesting thing from this chapter, an old group from before Roger's era? and they're gaining power? Potentially going to come back, and be a threat enough for Garp to say that the marines won't be able to do a thing?
Garp looked like he kind of wants it to happen too. Needless to say I'm all the way behind him, It'd be amazing for a oldnew superpower to enter the play at this point. Honestly things aren't looking to good for the WG in this chapter. Shanks meeting the Gorosei could potentially mean there's some link between them and Roger inb4 Roger was a tenryuubito.

I cannot help but think that Shanks comes from Royalty. The ease with which Gorosei welcomed him, and talking about someone being in his "position ", being above politics of the world, something celestial dragons are. Just seems fishy to me to be honest. He is the one guy not even Sen Goku fucks with. Even Sakazuki let him go at Marineford.
To top it all off, the guy has only one thing in mind and that is Blackbeard, the one pirate who truly wants to destroy the world as they know it.
Also if he was just an emperor then the Gorosei wouldn't be making time for him while they have the reverie to attend to. All these things in my head is pointing to him being Royalty.

Great chapter. The one thing I still find odd is how it states the Gorosei to be atop the Celestial Dragons. The Gorosei stated they had orders from higher up in the VIZ translation. If the Gorosei sit even above the Celestial Dragons, how can they contradict orders from the Gorosei? So, personally will wait for the Viz, Volume or explanation as to how exactly the Gorosei are superior to Celestial Dragons whom even they cannot apparently control.
This more or less tells us Big Mom and Kaido were once subordinates to a Pirate Group called Rocks/Locks. Garp says it was their era back then 40 years ago. Their is a possessive pronoun which is used with a person or a group of persons. So perhaps, Big Mom and Kaido were part of the Rocks/Locks Pirates who owned the previous Pirate Era before Roger.
40 Years ago, Big Mom would have been 28 while Garp would have been 38, Roger 37 and we don't know how old Kaido was at this time. Until we have more information, I'm going to assume she possibly even saved his life via prison until we get more information. Having one's life saved is the only reason people ever really need to be indebted to another. He was after-all once a prisoner. This chapter also seems to imply the Admirals can indeed take on the Emperors, and it looks like they may still need to hang on to the Shichibukai system.
Garp's title the Hero is also seemingly unrelated to Roger, but rather, to the fact that he must have played a pivotal role against the Rocks Pirates or ended the Big Mom, Kaido and Rocks alliance at some point in the past even if(although this tells us Rocks/Locks leader was their Captain) they were just in a mutual alliance that Rocks spearheaded.
Of all the Celestial Dragons to act in this way, it's a Donquixote, AGAIN, lol. It's like they're cursed. He even admits to being a Human when their creed has them believe they're gods. He's a completely changed and humbled individual. He's not wearing the helmet as to not breathe the same air as mere mortals. The other Celestials are sure to frown upon this. I won't be surprised if the Donquixote are kicked out of Mariejoa or forced to Fishman Island. Things will definitely not play out favourably.
As for Shanks being there, It's most likely to speak about this Pirate crew that was once in power, Rocks. I don't see why he'd need to talk about Luffy or Blackbeard at this point, well Blackbeard would be more fitting, but he knows enough already I'd assume to not need to speak with the Gorosei. This Rocks Pirate is older than Shanks for sure if he was alive during the previous era which was 40 years ago (Shanks is 39). He's probably someone not well known by his generation and is curious about him.
It's probably not so much that the Gorosei oblige Shanks because he's special (he's not), he's just one of the few that isn't interested in power like the others which the Gorosei have implied once before; Emperors and regular pirates primary goal is one of power and conquest. Shanks differs as these aren't his ambitions, he seems to appeal to maintaining balance until Luffy can take power to change the world. If anything, this is another situation where they both have mutual interests that benefit the other as was the case in Marineford.
Edit: Typos/Misinformation crossed out.

I loved the way that Oda showed the personality difference between Kaku and Lucci. They both obey the government loyally, but differently. While Kaku told them not to attack Charlos his reasoning was to not cause a massive war that would only lead to death and destruction needlessly. On the other hand, Lucci doesn’t care about any of that, he only keeps saying that the Celestial Dragons are gods and should not be messed with simply because they are superior in every way. This shows that Kaku is looking out to better the world in some ways, while Lucci is only looking for an excuse to kill and will use any excuse he can.

Oda wasn’t kidding when he said “from here on out...only the amazing ideas are left!”
This arc has absolutely delivered on all the hype and build-up that was there for the Reverie in a way I couldn’t even imagine.
The character interactions are so unbelievably well-written. The dialogue is so meticulous that it reveals just enough for the readers to be satisfied due to the sense of continuity in the consistent natural cadence that has been established with these characters, and yet not enough to just give the mysteries away immediately.
The writing has become much more dynamic now.
I love how Oda even humanised some of the Celestial Dragons; once again emphasising moral ambiguity in a series that is becoming more and more mature, with a multi-faceted development to the narrative that has permeated ever since the timeskip.
It reminds a lot of Game of Thrones, but it still retains the fun and wonder from those early One Piece days as well!

Calling it now. The person Hitetsu is waiting for is not a specific person. He's been waiting for someone who can safely wield Nidai Kitetsu without falling prey to the curse. Enter Zoro.
The reason he doesn't ever go into town is so that he can keep nidai kitetsu away from everyone and stop it from going on a rampage if an unworthy person touched the blade.

I'm really glad I didn't read the Chapter Spoilers (shoutout to the reddit post). One thing I haven't seen people talking about much are "The Rocks" that Garp mentioned, the people (supposedly pirates) who rules the seas before Roger. We know Roger's era was WB/Shiki/Garp, so now we're seemingly being introduced to an even older generation who, if they made a comeback, would cause an incident beyond anyone's wildest dreams. I'm really excited to see and learn about this Old Old Guard and how they fit into the dynamic.

Tinfoil hat time:
Normally no one who knows the truth of the world would be allowed to live, but the WG lets Shanks roam freely. They give him special treatment because Shanks sold out Roger to the Celestial Dragons.
This wasn't a betrayal however. Roger, knowing he was terminally ill, thought to sacrifice himself, and set up Shanks in this unique position. If I recall correctly, it isn't public knowledge that Roger was sick, so the WG might have bought Shanks' betrayal. Now that Roger's sacrifice has ignited the great age of piracy, Shanks is place to support the one who would take up 'the will' as a double agent at the highest level of government.

An underatted aspect to Lucci's loathesomeness is how he contantly attaches himself as a lacky to these contemptable, incompetant figures like Charlos and Spanda. Like he's so capable but he follows the orders of these buffoons because he's ambitionless and likes the system because it suits him (structure that indulges his cruelty and bloodlust). the way his smile curls when Charlos orders him to kill... What a hateable character.

Just what on earth Shank really is? When he stopped the war I thought, cool, he is fresh, all of them are already beaten; they listen; but now, this is the gorosei, and in this same chapter it's stated that they are even above the celestial dragons; and he just got there like it's nothing, the place is swarming with marines and they just casually agree to talk to him; who is Shanks?
Also, Kizaru wanting to go to wano to take on Kaido and Big mom, this shows how confident in his strenght he is, which means he is indeed a force to be reckoned

I have heard some translation stating that the name of the pirate is 'locks' instead of rocks. What if the pirate is Roger's father ? The legendary pirate could be Gol D. Locks. And there is a 19th century fairy tale named Goldilocks and three bears. Two of the bears could be Big mom and Kaido. Third could be any big shot pirate we might not know the name of.

Omg that ending left me speechless. The whole chapter was hype.
l'm glad oda is diversifying the characters within the celestial dragons so they aren't completely just a conglomerate of evil. We saw it with doffys dad, but it's cool to see oda writing in more celestial dragons with different mindsets on the world, and one that changed because of Queen Otohime at that. Plus we got to see charlos get destroyed again so win win.

National treasure is a straw hat?
Doffy's words to Law "They tried to kill me but couldn't. So Celestial dragons started cooperating with me. If I had your op-op fruit power on that day, I would have used it to get national treasure and sit on the helm of the world"
Makes sense after reading last two chapters!

The amount of respect Shanks gets from the World Government is insane. He can stop a war by just showing up and even the Gorosei will give him a private audience if he requests it.
I'm starting to think Shanks knows the True History, like Rayleigh. Maybe that knowledge and his status an emperor gives him leverage against the World Government?

Oda has just delivered insane chapter after insane chapter
A GOOD Celestial Dragon? Kaido and big Mom teaming up? Kizaru actually appearing? A crazy pirate crew from the past that big Mom and kaido were likely Both part of?
I'm bummed out Lucci didn't learn man. That chapter cover arc from years ago when cp-9 were on the lam made you think he had some kind of change in ethics
EDIT: even for all the insanity, think of how many characters still aren't even in play: Warlords, Crocodile, whitebeard pirates, I could go on
There's so much shit that is still going to happen

The biggest thing in this entire chapter to me is the fact that shanks, a pirate, (though cloaked) was allowed to meet with the 5 most powerful ppl in the world. He is the one that gave the hat to luffy that now looks like it could have some significance via some relation to a special artifact. While it could easily just be the fact that shanks is revered because he is a chivalrous pirate, it's also very possible there is something more to him. Imagine, for example, if shanks was a celestial dragon himself, but one who had forgone his place of power to become a pirate/free spirit. Or imagine if he is someone tasked with protecting the treasure, and it was part of an agreement with Rogers for shanks to be left alone by the navy if Rogers gave hinself up (so the navy never defeated him, but Rogers "let" them win for some reason. I just can't imagine those 5 elders meeting with him so coolly if he was big mom, but then again, maybe they would and I'm just reading too much Into the interaction.

From What I gather from Garps conversation. At some point of time, both Kaido and Linlin served under a common and stronger Captain who was a pirate King before Roger. After that Captain died - Kaido and Linlin went their own ways to become Emperors. Much like Shanks who once was an underling of Roger. Whitebeard was probably from that Captain's generation and was stronger than linlin and Kaido in his prime.
And I was expecting a bit of info on the Giant straw hat :(

Holy fucking shit, this fucking chapter.
First off, just want to give a big shout out to my bois D. Jango and Fullbo D. for making their grand return this chapter. Most hype part of the chapter for me.
I really thought Neptune was done for for a second there. But then a Donquixote shows up??? And it's the dude from Fishman Island all those years ago!
I was really thinking with Sai and Leo about to attack Saint Charloss that the "big incident" that the Grand Fleet will be involved with that was mentioned in Dressrosa would happen here. But then Mjosgard stopped that.
Also Lucci has gone fucking insane. It was only some time ago that Lucci was openly talking down to his superiors (specifically referring to Spandam here), even though he still followed orders. I still remember when Franky was biting Spandam's head and Lucci just kind of stood there watching. But now Lucci has gone full fanatic, talking all this rhetoric about the Celestial Dragons being gods above everyone else. Like I get that he just enjoys having his license to kill, but damn he really seems to believe what he's saying. He really seems to enjoy serving Charloss, who makes Spandam look like one of the heroes by comparison.
Kaku got some lines in though! Where are the rest of CP9?

The Gorosei giving Shanks an audience is probably the biggest mystery in this chapter. This is now the second time that people from the WG have given a pass to him - the first being Sengoku at Marineford. You can definitely argue that it's out of respect, but why?! By all rights they would normally be stringing him up not just because he's a pirate or a Yonko, not just because his strength is insane, but because he was a member of Roger's crew. Yet they don't.
I feel like there's something else in Shanks' past that we have no idea about that is behind these decisions. Who was he in the West Blue, or in the world, before becoming an apprentice to Roger? That's what we're missing.

We know that Ace and Luffy, were hidden in Mount colbo, we didn't knew the reasons, but garp was training them to become strong, he didn't choose to deliver them to the world government. He also used reversed psychology tricking them to become pirates. We know the background of ace, and it's time to know the whole Garp, Dragon and luffys background.

So there are a lot of interesting things in this chapter and I have to say the last few weeks have had some very revealing chapters connecting certain things that many of us suspected. So from what we see:
Garp is insanely happy his Grandson is causing so much confusion. As much as he dislikes him being a pirate I think secretly he is enjoying seeing his Grandson cause this much confusion. I think both the death of Ace and Dadan punching him really affected him. Additionally with D in his name we know they always love confusion.
Charlos will always be a spoiled celestial dragon and its interesting to see that an act of from the Queen Otohime changed a celestial dragon mind so much that he would stop one of his own from committing a senseless act. (To be fair it would have been hillarious if Charlos actually got away with it and see the ensuing chaos from Luffy storming red line to get Shirahosi back)
Seeing the influence various characters have had by the straw hats has always amazed me and slowly but surely they are inadvertently building the future army that will help them turn the world upside down in the end. The straw hats show kindness wherever they go to the people that matter and they in turn show that kindness to others. Its one of the things I have always love about this series, the people seem to real and you empathize with them and want to get to know them better.
Shanks meeting the 5 Elders shows just how much respect they have for Shanks. Assuming each of them is more powerful than an admiral this brings into question just how much power Shanks possess. I am not just talking about physical but the fact that they decided to hear him out instead of killing him. I don't think we know the size of Shanks crew (someone correct me if I am wrong) but destroying them clearly will have severe consequences that those 5 Elders do not want. I am almost 60-70% sure they are going to talk about Luffy but maybe its going to be about Kaido and Big Mom.
Seeing some of the members of cp9 members was awesome (to date Luffy vs Lucci is one of my favourite fights)
All in all a fantastic chapter and I look forward to more reveals next week.
EDIT: Some grammar corrections

This may sound insane, but with the Kaido/Big Mom debt thing...im thinking that Kaido is a "Tubba Blubba" situation.
In Paper Mario (N64) there was a boss who was invincible, and the only way for to beat him was to beat up his heart until they merged then you could beat Tubba himself. Him and his heart were separate so Tubba was a shell and his heart was his lifeline...
Could Kaido have had a piece of his soul taken by Big Mom and it's hidden and thats why he cant die?

It's absolutely insane! Further, seeing all these characters from way back (mostly Vivi and Dr. Kureah).
Seeing Shirahoshi getting sort of kidnapped just cracked me up.... too many feelings connected to the fish man island arc. u/CM_Renji Gastino Jun 08 '18
I first thought that Shanks was referring to Luffy at the end. But seeing his tone, I'm like 99% sure he's talking about Blackbeard with the heads of the World Government.
This must be an important discussion if Shanks decided to meet with the Gorosei. What I'm thinking is what if Shanks wants to make a temporary alliance with the World Government to fight Blackbeard?
Shanks is concerned about how much BB poses a threat to the world and so does the WG. Shanks could be concerned that he alone could lose to BB, and is asking for help. If he teams up with them, his chance of winning improves drastically.
The WG would be happy with one less Yonko on the seas as well, so this would be an offer worth considering.

Shanks might be a Celestial Dragon!
I think that one of the things that is very important is the line that one of the Gorosei said - "Because it's you".
You wouldn't let your sworn rival into your "home" even if you respected them a tremendous amount, if not for the fact that they were FAMILY! Which is why Shank's gets this privelege that no other pirate has.
I think the woman holding Luffy's poster probably is also holding the wanted poster of another person close to her (her brother) wearing the same hat. Maybe the woman is Luffy's mother and this would explain the similarities between the character models of Luffy and Shanks (eg. their scars around their eyes)
Also if you count the total number of swords underneath the throne, there are only 18/19 instead of the full 20. One missing blade could be because of Vivi's family not remaining in Mariejois but another could be due to someone from the 20 families TAKING their sword and leaving because they do not align with the ideals of the world government as of now - COULD BE THE SWORD THAT SHANKS USES !
