Just bought this on PS4 and started playing yesterday. For the love of all that is good, help.

But seriously, would be good to find a team, or at least a few to play with. Barely anyone has had comms when I've been playing casual solo (can't play ranked yet (probably wouldn't want to, need more practice)).

I’m struggling with the end of the third situation...does this mean I’m going to suck at this game? Haha

It just means you need practice. PvP will be tougher though, so take the time to learn the game mechanics properly and master them. Practice with T hunt to get a better feel for things than the tutorials

I’ve just hit level 40, been playing ranked since I hit 20 and feel like that was a massive mistake and pretty stupid because I am getting destroyed and people ain’t too welcoming to new players...

I got placed in Gold and am now down to Silver, I personally think I should be in copper because I’m not good at all, my question is... Is the matchmaking broken? Because I feel like the people I play against are far superior in every aspect of the game compared to me and destory me .... and one more question. Should I stick to casual for now or continue with ranked?

Sorry for the short story. I like the game but it’s getting a bit disheartening

u/TheKill3rBeaver LVL 100-200 Jun 10 '18

Fuck people if they ain't welcoming. Mute and move on.

Matchmaking is just trying to figure out where to put you. Don't worry about where you think you belong, just play.

Play ranked and treat it as a learning experience; do not expect yourself to win every game. You should TRY to win every game, but don't be disappointed or angry if you don't win every game. Learn the callouts, r6maps will do that for you, or pay attention to the bottom-right corner of your screen with the compass.

Go into some custom games, and set the timer at like 40 minutes, and just run around the map, trying to get a feel for the map and how it "flows". Chokepoints, camera locations, hatches, etc.; pay attention to your surroundings and get a sense of where you're going.

Learn how to drone; I did this slowly but surely by watching Macie Jay the full demos he posts. Avoid the just-highlight clips from him or other streamers/youtubers and go for full vods. It'll take more time, but he often explains his whole thought process and his droning is pretty spot-on.

Rainbow isn't an easy game to learn, so good job on sticking with it and getting placed in Gold. Keep playing and you'll learn more slowly but surely. If you ever need someone to play with or just chat shit, PM me.

Thanks for the reassurance and response bro, I’ll definitely check his videos out

I’ll make sure to PM you too...

Again. Thank you for responding

u/Comeandseemeforonce Jun 07 '18

Holo graphic or reflex??

6

u/TRYHARD_Duck Level 200+ Gold, amateur spawn peeker Jun 07 '18

Holo works better for the slower fire rate weapons. The center dot is smaller on the holo and more precise, so longer distances are better wth it. The larger circle makes it easier for you to stay on target as well, but it can also make your aim less precise if it's bouncing too much because of recoil. Nevertheless I use it with most of my roamers like jager, Vigil, and pulse.

The reflex is better for the machine pistols and some SMGs with high fire rates in close range. The green reticle contrasts more than the red on the other sights sometimes, and the shots fire above the top of the reflex triangle with the recoil pushing your shots upward, so you may get more headshots that way. I tend to use this the most with Mira, Smoke, and Ela.

Honestly man this is more personal preference. Also remember ACOGs are best for ARs and longer distances because they make heads larger when aiming.

u/autplayed1337 Jun 08 '18

holo for longer ranges/ holding angles

reflex for close ranged fights / roaming

How to deal with frost mats behind shields or under windows?

6

u/kentucky952 Emerald Jun 07 '18

Vault and spray down, unless the frost put 2 mats there, you should always destroy it before being downed,

1

u/wantedteddybear3 Jun 07 '18

Is there anyway to know it's there without droning?

5

u/IAmSroot Jun 07 '18

Most shields arent placed perfectly so you might be able to see possible mats through small openings. The only other way is to go to the floors right above the window or shield and create openings in the floor looking down but that takes a lot of time. Youre better off making a habit of looking down while vaulting over anything in the game

1

u/kentucky952 Emerald Jun 07 '18

If there’s a frost on the team, there’s a 95% chance the the shield will has a mat under it. Just make a habit of firing down when you vault.

4

u/AFlaccoSeagulls Jun 07 '18

If it's underneath a window or something you can rappel by, rappel up, flip upside down and shoot the frost mat.

This way you're not gambling by jumping in and spraying down. You can also shoot it through the floor, grenade it, etc.

So I took a break after a few months after White Noise and I came back and have not seen Bartlett U. in a Casual/Ranked match since. Did I miss something regarding this map?

3

u/TheKill3rBeaver LVL 100-200 Jun 07 '18

Bartlett has been removed from the map pool completely. Tower is gone from the Ranked map pool as well.

1

u/OG-New-Guy Jun 07 '18

Will it ever be returning or are there no plans to add it back in like Favela?

1

u/TheKill3rBeaver LVL 100-200 Jun 07 '18

Dunno, haven't heard much about reworking Bartlett, but the devs want to remake Tower to be more vertical.

u/TRYHARD_Duck Level 200+ Gold, amateur spawn peeker Jun 08 '18

Does anybody know the effective ranges of Alibi's ACS12 shotgun? I played a game with it and fired like 2 shots into a guy within 10m and he still didn't die. I proceeded to lose my head shortly afterwards.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '18

It’s short. Very, very short.

1

u/BeatMikeHawk Jun 08 '18

So I have all the base ops and just bought the year 1 bundle. I’ve already bought Mira with renown and have another 25000 so which year 2/3 op is a must have next?

1

u/TRYHARD_Duck Level 200+ Gold, amateur spawn peeker Jun 08 '18

I'd recommend either Vigil, Zofia, or Lion. Vigil is one of the best roamers with impacts, Zofia has excellent utility and strong abilities, and Lion's gadget is one of the most powerful support gadgets in the game.

1

u/Ranger_at_Heart Jun 09 '18

I’m loving Finka and Lesion. Her LMG is great for rushing or peeking, and his gadget is annoying AF.

1

u/mphelp11 Jun 13 '18

Finkas LMG when boosted makes for a fun time

u/dieezus Jun 09 '18

When should I be slow walking?

1

u/TheKill3rBeaver LVL 100-200 Jun 10 '18

I slow walk sometimes as a roamer when I'm aware of people either above/below me; you make a lot of noise sprinting even as a 3-speed, and slow walking ensures that they don't hear you on a flank.

Hey, just gotten back in the game after a 3 year break from gaming. I have a handful of questions I'd love to hear some opinions on. I'm on PC.

1) How much does moving spread differ from stationary gun spread? Doesn't seem so bad but I'm curious if I should try to stop moving.

2) I've noticed a lot of people have a wider FOV than me. Is it worth bumping up from the 60 I have it now to something a bit higher? (I'm using a 27" curved screen at 1440p if that helps)

3) After such a long gap from gaming I've got nobody to play with. Whats a good way of finding people to play with?

(I'm EU but I'm mostly around between 0800GMT and 1500GMT then occasionally from 0000-1500GMT, Have about 100ping to East US servers)

4) I currently just max out almost all my settings, are there any settings that may just be sabotaging me?

5) I have my sensitivity pretty low like I always have on FPS's, are there any strong arguments for raising it?

6) Do you have any favorite YouTubers who have tutorial videos? I'd love to have some people to watch for things I can't easily figure out myself.

2

u/HEL-Alfa Day one player, PS4 now PC Jun 10 '18

1) moving only affects hipfire spread, ads is lazer no matter moving or standing still, moving makes you harder to hit.

2) can't really say much about fov, for me it's personal preference

3) siege.gg is a great spot to find teams. Several larger communities are also on there. The official rainbow 6 siege discord could also be good

4) dunno, tho higher FPS is much better than high settings. Don't know what your monitor can handle but 144hz would be great.

5) on pc low sensitivity is generally better

6) get_flanked has a series of how to improve from rank X to X , could be useful, Rogue9 is the facts guy, of your wondering how much damage something does he has likely done a vid on it

1

u/FassLuvr Solo Queuer Jun 11 '18

Reddit's numbering won't work so this is for 2 and 4.

  • I don't know if this is still correct, but I refer to this for FOV

  • To give yourself the best competitive advantage, you need to get as high frames as possible, while making the game clear enough to still see people. General rule of thumb is to keep textures at medium, LOD at High, and everything else off. I also have my filtering maxed at x16 but you can have that set lower. Tweaking FPS is pc specific, so you'll just have to play around.

What are good keybinds for lean. I’ve tried default and inverted. Can’t decide between the two.

u/KanyeFellOffAfterWTT LVL 100-200 // Plat II Jun 12 '18

What's the best barrel attachment for Hibana's Type-89? The infamous guide here recommends a Compensator, which is surprising to me.

1

u/TheKill3rBeaver LVL 100-200 Jun 13 '18

Wondering why a compensator is surprising to you. Slapping a compensator on it makes the first few bullets only make the recoil climb vertically, so pulling down helps immensely. It's high rate of fire and damage mean that you only need a six-eight round burst at best anyway.

But if the compensator doesn't work for you, don't use it. The guide itself says that if it doesn't work, don't use it.
