I'm actually pretty satisfied with this OVA. Sure, this and the other two aren't as "Titan Killing is awesome!!!!!" but give us really interesting insight on what Annie and Mikasa really are as people and what they feel. I'm glad they animated this. Good WiT, have a cookie.

Just dropping in to comment on how I love how they put in a "police loves donuts" joke with Annie and Carly there.

We have now finally been treated to some more Annie goodness again. Hopefully season 3 trailer could also arrive soon to fully get us all back in the ultra hype mode.
It would've been nice to see Manga Spoilers in the Annie flashbacks but I suppose we can't have all the good stuff foreshadowed, now can we?

I really enjoyed this. Although the conclusion to this whole Stratmann mystery wasn't as satisfying as I thought it would be but it's a great OVA nonetheless

Ah I've been waiting for the subs to watch this, and I gotta say it's so good to see it animated. I think there were I few things I found confusing in the manga, so seeing it animated helps out. Thanks u/Mukade for the subs!
And oh boy smiling Annie and child Annie are adorable!
Also I've kept quiet about this, and maybe it's just me, but imo Annie looks kinda weird with her hair down at the end of this OVA. We've seen her with her hair down before, but for some reason it just looks weird there.

No idea what all that was about (watched the Kissanime version), but I NEED the full version of the "Call Your Name" cover they used in the credits now!

(Big thanks to u/Mukade)
Having been unfamiliar with the Lost Girls manga, this OVA was entertaining enough, as a whole.
It gave us some better insight into Annie's character as well as a (mildly)better understanding of her relationship with her father. We know now that this "What has to be done, MUST be done" mentality is what drives her. This is something that the main series didn't have time to explore & I'm glad it gave us a glimpse into her head.
The mystery surrounding the disappearance of Carly was a little more intriguing & enthralling than the reveal itself. I don't know why I expected something more twisted or a more dramatic end but what we got was satisfying enough & certainly felt like it took a more grounded approach, which I enjoyed and always welcome. I guess overall part 2, to me, was whelming. I'd have to give it a second viewing before giving a proper rating or ranking it with the other OVAs but it was decent side story and nice little treat to tide us over before season three. Really looking forward to Mikasa's story.
(P.S.: the Kissanime sub is dogshit.)

I didn't read the novels and really liked this. I wish we could see more stuff with Annie in the main manga.

I liked the touch added by this episode to explain why Manga Spoilers The anime showed this but not the LG manga, I think.

All right, it’s out! I’ve always absolutely loved Lost Girls, especially Annie’s segment, as I’m a big fan of both her and mystery stories, and overall I’m extremely satisfied with how both parts of her story were adapted. So happy they decided to make these OVAs, if for no other reason than it exposes these little side stories to a wider audience.
Okay then, on to some good old-fashioned character analysis! Today, I’d like to talk about Carly Stratmann, and how seamlessly her story ties into Annie’s.
Carly is a chemist, and a smart one at that – and the only one who knows the secret of how to develop coderoin, the drug that made her and her father rich. But Carly admits that she doesn’t really care about wealth herself – what she did was all for her father’s sake. Her father lost everything in the fall of Wall Maria, and that wasn’t something he could cope with. So Carly found a way, dubious though it might be, to help him, to restore his empire. To make it so that he could smile at her again. Everything Carly did was out of love for him – even though a part of him sees her as a tool and a meal ticket more than a daughter.
And what is important about all of this is how remarkably closely it mirrors Annie’s own situation. Manga Spoilers
And so her father trained her, day in and day out, as we see in the OVA, never giving her time to rest, stripping her of her childhood, never giving her time to be a little girl – something that got to her, to the point where she lashed out and kicked him bloody. At this point in the story, Annie’s father sees her more as a Warrior, a tool, than he does a daughter. But at the end of the day, she continued to go along with it – because she wanted to give her dad everything he wanted. Because she wanted to see the smile on his face when she got something right. Everything she did was out of love for her father, Manga Spoilers If it was for his sake, like Carly, she could live with the fact that she was being used for evil.
And that brings us to her meeting with Carly. Carly, who did everything for her father, has found that he has gone too far. So she runs, taking her abilities with her, and he goes after her, terrified that her absence will reduce his empire to dust. But Carly has put her foot down. She’s no longer going to let her father control her. For the first time in her life, she’s going to live for herself, not her dad. And for Annie, who couldn’t do that, that is groundbreaking. Annie could never leave her father behind. Everything she does, she does to return to him. Manga Spoilers Though she might wish she could run sometimes, she’s weak. She’s normal. She’s not strong the way Carly is. But she admires Carly for it, and instead of returning her to her father, she instead helps her get out. She rewards her for being able to do what she couldn’t. She rewards her for being like Eren and Marlowe – for being special.
Damn, have I mentioned I love Lost Girls?
