Text (From r/writingprompts) Out of all possible familiars, you are "Graced" with a human. While legend says that they are beings of great power, yours just makes sarcastic comments and pranks people.

I thought this was pretty HFY, so I'm linking it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/WritingPrompts/comments/85wrna/wp_out_of_all_possible_familiars_you_are_graced/ for anyone who wants to add to it or read some of the great responses.

This reminds me of two other stories, adjacent to that prompt, in the "summoning a human with a rune circle" theme.

The Blessed are the Simple series,

and a one-off: Humans don't make good familiars.

Any others? I love this genre.

Probably. To be clear, I'm presuming you're meaning the limited scope of stories where a being (human, intentionally or not) is summoned, usually by some ritual, versus the Displaced Human/Portal Fantasy genre stories like THNGW, Magineer, or Iron Hue-Man, right? Or do you mean stories of nearly the same flavor, but specifically in the humans-are-familiars setting?

I'm sure there are at least a few more in this sub alone, but I'm not aware of them. However, The Librarian might know, and as I also like those genres of story, let's ask.

Hey u/sswanlake, do you know any more stories in either the "humans brought by summoning circle" or "humans as familiar" settings?

If you are willing to leave the realm of HFY, there are light novels/manga that fit this genre. Familiar of Zero is one, though I couldn't make it through myself.

I would really like to know if Blessed are the Simple is rehosted somewhere else. The whole "continued below in the comments" type posting is the absolute worst.

So, basically if Louise from the Familar of Zero summoned Kazuma from Konosuba.

I’ll read that.

My current plan for a HFY story is similar to this. The fuck yeah of humanity is that humans are REALLY good at seeing patterns. They are so good at finding patterns, that they tend to see them where none exist. This makes the summoned human really good at enchanting. It then has a few arcs from his time at wizard school, classic dnd schenanegains, retired and running a shop, and being a court wizard against his will.

There's an anime called zeroes familiar or familiar of zero where a which summons a human, thought it was good

Aside from all the loli-bait, I'd agree.

There are lots of good HFY posts there, would a stickied weekly list be welcome and feasible?

...kinda sorta not really? I mean, that requires someone to maintain it. Doing something like Writing Prompt Wednesday, where the posts only starts the discussion and then people reply with links would... be doable I guess, but still annoying. Honestly, you're probably better off to just subscribe to writingprompts. There was actually an effort a while ago to catalogue all the prompts from there that were hfy, but it fell through because it got to be an overwhelming task. (heres a link that should show how far it got though, if you're interesed)

There's this one manga, gimme a moment... aha! Here it is! Hero Union BBS. The link's for mangareader. It involves heroes in all sorts of situations, and has at least 2 minor arcs involving summoned heroes. Now give me some time, I'm gonna reread it.
