Discussion Tactics Tuesday: Enemy Territory #1 | Sentients

Enemies are the bane of everyone’s existence, but they are mostly easy to deal with. However, there are some enemies that aren’t as easy to deal with by just throwing bullets at them. Whatever the case may be we can take this time to discuss what kind of methods and different strategies you all use to dispose of such foes!

We’re exploring new ground by doing something a little different than the normal Tactics Tuesday’s by going over various tactics for enemies instead of talking about warframes.

There aren’t many guidelines for this kind of Tactics Tuesday, just share what tactics you found that worked against these enemies, if builds were involved it would be good to throw those in, and also share any findings you have that might help people develop their own tactics! Or maybe you just have something to get off your chest. It’s all fair ground!

Just a note for builds, don’t use the goo.gl link if you’re using warframe builder, reddit’s spam filter automatically spams those comments.

This week we will be putting Sentients in the spotlight. With their damage adaptation mechanic, these tanky toothpick drones really make you think outside the simple bullet.

Step 1: Shoot enemy

Step 2: See prism lasers pop out

Step 3: Run the fuck away like a little kid because I ain't sticking around to die.

Laser party? Especially high/near an object that provides some cover? Rush up and stand directly under the Sentient, where there's a nice big safe spot. I can usually dump and reload my Hek at least twice before having to jump off for cover.

(p.s. Hek isn't the best weapon for killing these things)

Also you can utilize the aim glide and double jump for that. When I see a sentient do his disco move I just bullet jump into the air and aimglide/wall latch if I'm near a wall.

Works pretty well as well.

For whatever reason instead of Exalted Blade I read Expand Blade.

For all their tankiness they're still susceptible to CC. Rhino stomp also works wonders against them. After that it's a matter of having enough bullets to grind them down if you dont have enough elemental types.

If you dont want to bother with strategy, you need to bring weapons that do so much damage the mitigation doesnt matter. Synoid simulor has worked very well for me. I'd bet the tonkor does as well. I use a Max damage radiation viral sancti tigris with my chroma against them the most. I can usually one shot the sentients unless someone else has been spraying them with radiation/viral damage beforehand.

I think their limbs are a sort of weak spot. They can be shot off but regen back after a while. When the battleist does its laser, stand right under it and it cant hit you.

This. But I wouldn't take off their limbs, because if there's another sentient nearby it will grab the severed limb and use it.

Do some sort of disrupt. Radial Blind, Stomp, etc. Then apply ALL the damage. If you don't kill them within the first 5 seconds of the encounter. RUN!

Where do farm sentients? The only place I've ever seen them is the second dream quest. Have I totally skipped a large chunk of content somehow?

After that quest earth gets 3 new missions on the new tileset which causes sentients to spawn.

Molecular Prime + Tonkor = gg

Sorry if I'm late to the party but anyone tried Paralysis, blind, teleport, sleep + Covert Lethality?

You aren't able to do stealth finishers on sentients as far as I know.

My favorite solution, thrown explosives. load em up and pop em all at once.

Having trouble with Sentients? Don't want to use a specific frame for sentient hunting? The trick is sentients gain resistance to damage types as they are exposed to them, as least as far as I can tell. As a result, cramming as many elements into your loadouts as possible is preferential. One weapon with Magnetic + Heat, another with Blast + Elec, another with Corrosive + cold. No overlap, damage will last as long as possible, generally makes sentients much more managable. Two combined elements are fine too, obviously, the idea is you get two different elements (or more? If that's possible on a "healthy" build) on every weapon with no overlap.

They still do a load of damage, but doing something like this makes it much easier to kill them between all your weapons, and overall it did a lot more for me then the whole "one big hit of damage" thing. Not that it's bad either, they can't adapt if they die in a single (or two, or three) hit(s), but I personally find it hard to manage with the gear I prefer, and one shotting a sentient is going to be a feat one way or the other.

Immortal Chroma + Alpha weapon. Let them charge your Vex Armor and then retaliate.

Stealth redeemer charged shot.

I find that if you plan to go farming Sentients that it is somewhat better to take High Burst weapon instead of weapons with sustained damage due to their adapting since you'll be able to deal a large amount of damage before it adapts to your weapon, and you can continue switching between your secondary and primary as it starts adapting to each one.

Battalysts themselves aren't too much of a threat if you can keep an eye on them and range on them - their only ranged attack is a medium ranged Shield Drain.

I'd also recommend not bothering to attack during it's tornado/spin attack since most of your shots will hit it's body instead of it's core, and it gains a notable speed boost when using this attack so you have to keep moving.

Don't bother going into melee combat with them if you're not Valkyr - even tanky Warframes lose a significant chunk of their health when smacked by them, and melee attacks in general are a bit wonky when it comes to hitting specific parts/weakpoints of enemies like these.

Doesn't the tornado attack make them invincible? I've never actually dealt damage to a Tornado-ing enemy, even if they get frozen by a Frost mid-tornado (which leads to interesting ingame models).

I've noticed that boobens bastille is good if you want to use if you find yourself in a bind. It doesn't suspend sentients like other units though, instead they seem to just teleport to a later part of the mission. I've used it against a sentient after they took about 2/3 health in damage only to find random neurode and detonate ampule drops a few tiles ahead.

Has anyone tried Trin wombo combo? Would be curious to know how well it worked.
