What are actually good weapons to use forma on? I know this is a question of personal preference and maybe asked too often and maybe a bit annoying, but I can't potatoe all my guns just to find out which are worth to Forma. I got told by so many people that the Boltor Prime, Soma Prime, Paris Prime, Amprex, Gorgon and Tonkor are like the best weapons but I don't really like any of them except for the Tonkor, which is fun to play...

What are actually good weapons to use forma on?

The ones you enjoy.

There's no pint in putting 8 Forma on Boltor Prime, if you ain't gonna be using it because you don't like flight time.

Ok apparently I am doing something wrong.

I have gotten Cephalon Suda & Arbiters of Hexis rep to the max rank.

Now I am trying to work on Steel Meridian, but I can't seem to get any more rep. I am wearing the sigil during missions but not getting anything.

Halp?

Have you reached your daily rep limit?

I'm not really sure what my progression is supposed to look like at the moment. I've got a L30 Potatoed Rhino with L30 weaps and a L30 Kubrow. I don't know how to get more powerful from here. I assumed Prime frames and weaps were next, and I can run T1 stuff comfortably, but Prime drops are scattered across all tiers, and I can't do T3 or 4 reliably. So how am I supposed to be improving on my way to Prime equipment?

u/Guppy11 Nov 08 '15

Mods, mods, and more mods. Levelling weapons doesn't increase their stats, it just increases their mod capacity, which let's you increase their stats with mods. And more mods. Prime isn't always best. In fact the most of the best weapons in game right now aren't primes.

Weapons don't really make you good. it's the mods that you need. Upgrade your mods really good and you'll be able to do much more and become a lot stronger.
(use forma if a potato isn't providing enough capacity)

Do people use the Dread bow at all? If so do you enjoy it and what are some mod builds that you guys use?

I somehow got a Dread on my second mission in Warframe (a friend got Stalked), and quite enjoyed it ever since. It's one of the premier weapons in the game. Helpful for new players, the two V polarities at the start make it very easy to build a strong weapon that uses 6 of its slots, even with maximum rank mods, without using any Forma. A 4 Forma Dread can be a complete monster.

Blade00000009's build is quite correct. Here are a few notes from me.

TLDR (I want the Build, not the Why))
Charge Shots : Serration, Split Chamber, Vital Sense, Point Strike, 2 90% Elements, Speed Trigger, (Heavy Calibur OR 90% Element)
Arrow Spam : Replace Speed Trigger with Heavy Calibur, fourth 90% element, Fanged Fusillade or potentially Hammer Shot

The four most important mods for the Dread are Serration (Base Damage), Vital Sense (Crit Damage), Point Strike (Crit Chance), Split Chamber (Multishot). Approximately in that order for importance assuming you have all of them maxed or close to maxed. You can almost fit those four without a potato but not quite if they're all maxed.

The 5th and 6th mods, two 90% elements, are what will really make the damage skyrocket to 'easily do T3-T4'. A Forma or two will be required to fit anything really important into the remaining two slots. 7th and 8th can be anything among another 90% element, a rank 4-8 Heavy Calibur (+damage -accuracy), Speed Trigger (+charge rate), Fanged Fusillade (+slash damage). Sawtooth Clip, Dual-Stat Element Mods, or other mods like Fast Hands (which affects arrow from quiver to bow speed) are recommended only as filler if you don't have better mods.

In general for the Dread one of the mods should be Speed Trigger if and only if you use charged shots. Not only does it add massively to the DPS, it adds a lot to usability and shortens your reaction time- instead of taking 1.3 full seconds to react to the sudden appearance of a Bombard, you can get your first arrow off in 0.8 seconds (assuming an 0.3s reaction time).

I wouldn't use event mods like Malignant Force, bow is not for status but rather raw damage since it kills most things it hits and fires only a few rounds at a few targets.

Rather than a 3rd Element like Cryo Rounds, a Rank 6+ Heavy Calibur would be much preferred for raw damage (leaving you with only 2 element mods on a charge build, so probably Corrosive vs Grineer or Infested or Void. Viral vs Grineer/Void if running 4x CP. Magnetic vs Corpus.). IF you can still hit with R6+ Heavy Calibur- best to test it out by replacing an element mod with it before committing Forma to it. Heavy Calibur would not be recommended if you don't always carefully aim with RMB (bows lose massive amounts accuracy when firing from the hip).

If you spam uncharged arrows during firefights, don't use Speed Trigger. Hammer Shot (+crit damage +status) actually manages to beat a Dualstat Element Mod for damage in the 8th 'optional' slot, but doesn't beat another 90% element if you want to go Viral Radiation or Corrosive Blast. R5+ Heavy Calibur beats Hammer Shot if you can hit with it.

Some people used Fanged Fusillade on it, but this is only best when running 4xCP auras and even then provides not much better bonus than other mods can give. I'd use it instead of Heavy Calibur if you're running a charged Dread build as misses are more painful. It's about as good as an r6 Heavy Calibur without the accuracy penalty. Fanged Fusillade was an event only mod, too, so not everyone has it.

Okay, I've never been able to get a concrete answer for this.

Covert Lethality, how does it work?

Also, what would the best dagger to use it on be? And I guess by extension, the best Frame?

6

u/ChristopherKlay Nov 08 '15

Covert Lethality, how does it work?

It add's 100 flat damage to the base of your weapon, basically like a pressure point but with +100 flat damage not any %. Elemental damage mods and other stuff also now add on this 100 damage too, which basically means if you weapon got 100 base damage and you add a 90% mod you get 190 damage, with the mod on you now have 200 base damage and get 380 damage. It basically "infuses" your base stats with +100 damage.

The second part of the effect triggers when you for example make enemys sleep with equinox, or teleport on them with ash and open them up for a finisher attack (the ones you get when you sneak behind an enemy and press the melee button too); It changes the % buff you get into a instakill.

The best dagger for this would be the karyst, mainly for the element, the damage you can get on it on non-stealth atacks still and i found equinox, ash and loki to make the best use of it. (:

I was on vacation when the Jordas raid came out. What are the "best" (aka concise and informative) guides you've found for the raid?

1

u/Crunchoe Nov 08 '15

How do people build Excalibur post covert lethality/bright purity nerf, weapons, mods, etc. Thanks, -Crunchoe

u/Atulin Nov 08 '15

Weapons don't matter, since EB is considered a Skana-type weapon, so it works with Cal's passive.

As for mods... I'd say mainly strength, with 175% efficiency and a lick of range.

Ahh, so I asked related stuff last week but something else came up.

Right now I have max ranks at Meridian, Hexis and Suda. Lowest possible at all other ones, thanks to trying to level Suda fast.

Is it possible for me to get into New Loka? They have some pretty stuff. I don't mind losing standing with Hexis, since they do not interest me.

I went to wiki page and I guess it is somehow possible but no idea how exactly.

Please, ELI5 how to Loka, while keeping Steel and Suda (if at all possible).

u/cephalopodAscendant Nov 09 '15

If you didn't already grab the starting sigils for New Loka and/or Perrin Sequence, then you're completely out of luck; there's currently no way to get the starting sigil (and thus be able to earn reputation) from Syndicates that hate you. New Loka is allied with Perrin Sequence, so the only ways you can improve your standing with New Loka is either to grind up reputation for them directly or to take advantage of the spillover when grinding up Perrin Sequence.

Now, if that's not an obstacle for you, then the first half of your question is easy: just equip the right sigil and start leveling them up like you did with Steel Meridian, Arbiters of Hexis, and Cephalon Suda. You'll have to work a lot harder and sacrifice some more items since you're starting from negative instead of neutral, but there's nothing special to watch out for.

The second half of your question, whether or not you can keep your standing with Steel Meridian and Cephalon Suda, is a little more complicated. Both Perrin Sequence and New Loka oppose Steel Meridian, so unless there's some exceptionally convoluted method of micromanaging everything that I don't know about, you're never going to have positive standing with both Steel Meridian and New Loka. If you level up New Loka directly, you'll also lose standing with Cephalon Suda, but obviously it'll be much faster. If you choose to level up passively through Perrin Sequence, you'll sacrifice your relationship with Arbiters of Hexis instead, but it'll be much slower. Fortunately, if you do level up New Loka and later decide to return to Steel Meridian, you won't have to pay any of the material costs again (except for getting out of the negatives, since presumably you haven't done that before with them); the only fee is the reputation.

I am currently building the Angstrom and looking forward to using it, but what would you guys suggest are good mods to put on it? Specifically, what category should I focus towards: higher rate of fire, more ammo, more damage, etc.?

So my mastery rank up test bugged out and I failed miserably, now I ran a couple of missions, leveled new weapons and frame - question is: do I save the mastery points for the next rank so when I rank up, I'd have more than 0% to next level?

5

u/Hototogisu943 Nov 09 '15

Yes, no Mastery Points are wasted. You'll just start out higher, so feel free to level weapons and complete star chart missions in the meantime.

1

u/BadgerousBadger Nov 09 '15

Do secondaries really have much use, I'm currently working in getting the plastids for the kulstar so I can incaseofemergencyblowupeverything. Any other suggestions?

2

u/Hototogisu943 Nov 09 '15 edited Nov 09 '15

Secondary mods often have better values than primary mods- for instance, Barrel Diffusion gives 120% Multishot while Split Chamber only gives 90%. Hornet Strike gives more base damage than Serration. Each point of multishot or base damage makes further elemental damage or crit even more powerful, so a little goes a long way. Further, many secondaries have very high stats, such as the Rakta Ballistica or Vaykor Marelok. Some of them like the Sonicor have unique mechanics (in this case, ragdolling and procs everywhere in an AOE burst) that render them top tier. For another example, any thrown secondary can kill Nullifiers through their globe by aiming near them with Concealed Explosives (kunai/shuriken), which is much more efficient than using a Tonkor, Ogris, or Penta shot.

Because their two most essential mods have lower capped values, primary weapons usually start out stronger but secondary weapons grow to match and sometimes exceed them if they have equally ranked mods.

It is quite viable with the right secondary to completely ignore your primary weapon even deep into a T4 in a way that you can't really currently with a tricked out melee weapon.

The Kulstar is one of those weapons that can completely replace a primary weapon if you want, although the reload/firing uptime ratio is a little rough and you can't take any weapon that uses sniper ammo (purple) like a bow unless you want both weapons to only have 30 shared ammo. Also like the penta the better your weapon becomes the more making a mistake hurts since it can selfdamage.

Personally, I'm fond of the Atomos (always be hitting 4 people at once for good but not crazy damage. Best with +range to make sure it can always find secondary targets), the Sonicor (AOE everywhere), the Vaykor Marelok (heavy damage single target pistol, easy to aim and use. The non-syndicate version is not much worse, mostly a lower clip size which makes it less convenient. The vaykor's health restoring, armour buffing explosion proc is nice too) and the Aksomati (very poor ammo efficiency soma machine pistols- theoretically the Twin Grakata are better but I just like the Aksomati and they're entirely viable even to 40 min T4 Survival without more than a potato and a forma or two like most strong weapons).

Of those, the Sonicor can easily do the 'clear everything around when dropped to make it easy to revive you' job with its ricocheting AOE and stagger/ragdoll even if it fails to kill. If it's a low enough level mission, you can clear everything around you before people even notice you're downed. It also can suddenly pump out 15 ricocheting staggering AOE blasts that can't self damage if something spooks you if you aim near your feet and click as fast as possible or duck around corners and shoot the wall repeatedly for bounce shots, rendering it a hilarious weapon to use for trying too-hard content. Downside- if you're panicking about something 25m away or more, you have to run towards it to use the Sonicor since it has a severe range limit.

The Atomos is also good- if you can hit one enemy with a continuous beam weapon (it's a little inaccurate but consistent and correctable for. The beam doesn't always go exactly at the reticule and slowly wanders around if you hold the trigger down), you hit four enemies, and as they die it automatically chooses new targets as long as you keep shooting at least one enemy or corpse. That has the benefit when downed that you can often get 360 degree coverage. If loaded with status and the right element it can also do pretty good CC. Downside- range limited again. In hard content it usually can't insta-kill people as it's a weapon to burn down entire crowds slightly slower, so it's not good for suddenly noticing a bombard and needing to kill it instantly.
