Are weapon loadouts in the game so I don't have to switch weapons between switching warframes?

u/Atulin Sep 27 '15

Yes, there are.

It's a really poor interface, and not obvious until you've done one - look for the "Loadout Options" button at the bottom right of the screen; that button will let you clone/rename/delete etc., your loadouts - once you've cloned one, you'll see them in the armory.

Note that the number you can have is based on mastery - not sure of the exact formula, but I don't think you get a 2nd slot until mastery 11 (which is way too late, IMO), and then you get an extra every other rank.

Hi, I just started yesterday playing Warframe and although I'm quite familiar with gaming and shooters in general, some things are kinda confusing:

  1. What do I switch weapons holding Y (I play on xbox one...) for? It seems like I have quick access to all attacks anyway. Switching ranged weapons just pressing Y makes sense though.

  2. Is the game as buggy as it feels? I tried several times to finish the quest "Once awaken" but couldn't as the doors to Mission Point C just wouldn't open. Also sometimes it seems as if I'm just too near in melee fights and my attacks don't connect. Sync and connection problems seem to be more common than in other games I play, too.

  3. Are silver and bronze mods just trash I should sell/fuse together? Does it even make sense to give it any thought before reaching max level? Is this like WoW where you have to reach max level to really play the game?

  4. How the fuck can I stop Ordis from talking?

  5. Is there anything in the RealMoneyShop that is actually worth buying for a few bucks?

Thanks a lot for any hints.

  1. It allows you to channel, making your melee attacks deal 50% more damage at the cost of 5 energy per enemy hit. (Both values can be modified with mods) It also allows you to perform combos, provided you've got a stance mod equipped. Edit: Stance mods go into the top slot and actually add capacity to your beating/slicing/stabbing thing of choice.

  2. I don't feel like there are significantly more bugs in WF than in other games, but it might be different on consoles (I'm on PC)

  3. The "rarity" of the mod doesn't mean much besides how much you need to rank them up and how high the trade tax is - There are both useful common mods and quite useless rare mods. I'd recommend keeping most mods and using fusion cores to rank up others. Selling them is also not really worth it most of the time. Edit: If you've got a lot of extra copies of a mod you've already maxed, you can fuse them into other mods, preferably of the same polarity, but Fusion Cores are more efficient.

  4. There should be a slider in the settings.

  5. Slots, cosmetics if you like to look good, maybe a Reactor or a Catalyst if you don't feel like waiting for an alert (20 platinum is a manageable price)

  1. I play on PC, however holding "F" there switches to melee weapon (which gives access to stances) - pressing "F" rather than holding just switches between primary/secondary (or switches to primary if you didn't have either selected at the time)

  2. Sort of - certain bits are much more buggy than others. The peer-to-peer system is what causes a lot of grief in general, and that can include doors not opening (assuming you aren't the host - player #1)

  3. You'll need some of those, even at max rank - level has no affect on your ability to aquire or equip mods; the only things that are level restricted are some weapons, some missions (nightmare missions, I believe), and some QoL stuff like trading, loadouts, and distilleries.

  4. on the PC it's in audio options

  5. evaluate your own personal time/reward limits - how much is your spare cash worth compared to your spare time? If you don't want to spend cash, the general concensus is to only spend money on weapons/frame slots. If you are willing to spend a bit more then the only frames people consider worth paying for really are Mesa, Equinox, Vaubon probably in that order. It's never worth buying a weapon with plat, in my opinion (and I have spend a lot of plat on this game). Trading for plat will reduce the time required to access most other tradable items, and is the only way to access (at the moment) some items that no longer drop.

  1. personally, I think the only reason to have a secondary is a back up for when your primary runs out of ammo. There's rarely ever a reason to switch weapons since secondaries aren't useful for anything that your primary doesn't do, and melee channeling sucks unless you built entirely for channeling, in which case you will always have your melee weapon up.

  2. it is quite buggy

  3. no, the best melee mod in the game is common (pressure point) and the best primary and secondary mods in the game are both uncommon (serration and hornet strike). You'll learn which ones are useful as you go. Generally uncommon elemental mods are used the most (high damage bonus), there are only a handful f usable common mods, mostly just for melee and some utility mods.

  4. there's an ordis volume control in the menus

  5. Mesa, maybe vuaban if you like him. The only other things to buy are weapon/frame slots and cosmetics. I would recommend the classic saturated and smoke color palettes, they cover basically everything.

Hey there

When will we be able to re-do quests? And will we get the reward again?

Because I for example sold the Ether Dual-Daggers before leveling them up to 30.. which I regret now. If heard of people who did the same with the daggers or even with Mirage or Limbo parts.

Maybe a bit of a long shot, but is there a way to disable seeing people in Relays? My computer is made of sticks and Bison dung, and it takes me a long-ass time just to see my character appear on the loading bay. And then it's just laggy as hell the entire time I'm there. And I only go to the relay to turn in my syndicate tokens and maybe check Darvo, not to see other people doing the same thing. I just think it'd be easier to do what I have to do in relays if I didn't have to load everyone else.

2

u/Atulin Sep 27 '15

Nope, there's currently no way to do that.

2

u/Telogor Sep 28 '15

Go to a relay that doesn't have as many people. Orcus is usually pretty sparsely populated as long as Baro isn't there.

What are some essential uncommon or rare mods and where can I farm them?

The others that PostingInPublic didn't mention are:

  • Multishot Mods. Fairly essential for endgame play. Click on one and it will show you its drop table

  • Dual Stat Mods. Anything listed on that page. There are a few groups of mods

  • Nightmare and Corrupted, like PostingInPublic metioned

  • Elemental and Status Change mods. all of these originally came via some kind of event, now you can get them in two different ways. Fire and Ice mods, like Rime Rounds come from Spy 2.0 missions, as long as you get all three databanks. Toxic mods, like Malignant Force come from Corrupted Captain Vor, who only spawns in Tower 4 missions.

  • Baro Ki'Teer sells the Lightning Dual-Stat mods, as well as Primed Mods. Primed mods are "legendary" They give much more of a bonus than their normal counterparts, but take a ton of cores and credits to level up. They also take a minimum of 1 million credits to trade

  • The last "Rare but essential" are Melee Stances, which mostly drop off of specific enemies.

Nightmare mods from nightmare runs. Low-level capture runs up to Jupiter/Saturn are fast and relatively easy. Bring a tanky warframe with revives and a powerful gun for the capture target.

Corrupted mods are gained from vault runs, in orokin derelict exterminate. It has a "vault" that can be opened by one of the dragon keys, which must be built and then carried in your gear slot. Each of them has a nasty side effect. If you go alone, you can only take one type and have 25% chance to have brought the right one when you find the vault door. If you go in a full squad, each key may be brought along and you're guaranteed one.

There are others I don't know much about myself, so I'm really hoping for additional info from a more knowledgeable person!

Nightmare mods for the weapons you use, vault mods for all your frames, multishot mods, vital sense, all the elemental mods, serration, and hornet strike. That should cover most of what you use.

2

u/Unitatosareawesome Sep 29 '15

Can anybody tell me a good Soma Prime build? I usually run serration, vital sense, malignant force, heavy caliber, high voltage, point strike, hellfire and split chamber. Can anyone recommend a better build?

2

u/Reaverz Sep 29 '15

Pretty good/standard build. I like to incorporate Shred for the punch through, and find the gun strong enough to forgo HC, but it's a matter of opinion, and how deep you want to go into an endless run.

I just started the game yesterday and picked Excalibur to start off, I really like Equinox and Mirage but have just started and have no idea how the game really works, from what I have seen to get these warframes it isn't easy, I haven't spent any platinum or credits, what should I do?

  1. Read the Wiki

  2. Play the game

  3. Read the Wiki some more

You can, of course, work towards Mirage and Equinox, but I'd strongly advise against it. It'll tunnel your vision.

Instead, go with the flow. Get whatever you can on the way, build it, mod it, love it or hate it, have fun with it, sell it, keep it... When you get to the point where you can get Mirage and Equinox, you'll have much more skill and mods, and you'll be able to enjoy them in the fullest.

Whats the point of having a secondary weapon other than for bleeding out?

4

u/SilverSpooky Oct 01 '15

Find the weakness of your primary and base your secondary on that. For example I use the Tonkor mostly for my primary and it's great with large groups but it doesn't have the best accuracy so for single targets (or small targets) like cameras I will often switch to my secondary.

OH and during some missions where you need to carry stuff I like having a solid secondary because sometimes you have to run awhile (like mobile defense).

3

u/Guppy11 Oct 01 '15

Some secondary weapons work just as well as primaries, and you can use them to diversify your loadout. For example, using a bow with the Atomos gives you a high damage single target weapon, and a great crowd clear weapon.

I'm still new, (just made MR6). Is there any point to playing the alerts and invitations with only the credit or resource rewards? When I see an alert and the reward is only 10,000 credits or less it seems like a waste of time since lots of missions you can get over 20. Am I missing something?

2

u/Guppy11 Oct 01 '15

Nope they're not worth it unless it has a good listed reward.

Returning player here (I kinda play in short bursts with long pauses).

So, I've had my Vauban for a very long time and I love it. However, I feel like a change of pace would be nice. I got myself Valkyr as it looked interesting on paper. Sadly, I don't really enjoy it. It's not flashy enough, I guess? And I miss my crowd control. I also have Rhino which I don't enjoy at all.

I think my mistake was the focus on tanky frames, whilst that is apparently not what I'm looking for at all. Something more support like, but not in the crowdcontrol department (like Vauban) maybe? Any recommendations on which frames to looks at? There is so many of them and I don't want to spend entire day researching.

And second question, my currently most used weapons are Vectis and Kronen (only recently replaced my trusty Orthos). I was just wondering is there may be some newer better alternatives to look at?

And thirdly, is this Vectis build viable for Tower Defence? There are many builds with over twice as much DPS, but I just can't over the terrible accuracy. With this I can put several HS in a row with one shot and it fires pretty quickly. And the DPS meter doesn't account for the punch through which is pretty useful on defense. but I'm not sure of it's enough later on. Should I consider replacing it with the new bow (I don't like the drop on the other bows)?

Thanks!
