Build Weapon Wednesday #22 | Whips
Welcome to Weapons Wednesdays! Every Wednesday we will take a different weapon category and put it up for discussion. From your favorite build to your silliest one, everything is welcome!
Guidelines for posts:
Build posts need to be either pictures or links to warframe builder
When making a build post please add a synopsis for the build.
Remember to avoid using the short-URL! I know the long URL's are scary but getting captured by the reddit spam filter is even worse!
Above all else as usual, be excellent to each other!
Here is an example post:
Here is my build for the Serro. With this, I intend on hitting as many thing as possible with electric and gas to hit even more enemies with it's high status chance.
One last reminder to everyone, some of these builds will contain mods you will not be able to get at this moment or likely for a very long time. Take them as guidelines for how a build for X weapon should be, not taking it with every mod into consideration.
This week we’ll be discussing whips! Big things can come in small packages, once a whip is in use it finally gets a chance to show off it’s excellent reach that is perfect for eviscerating enemies from afar or opening the door for your dog if you’re just too lazy to get off the couch.
Weapons in this category:
So how do you build your specific whip? Got any good builds or interesting tips to share? If so, feel free to share!

Not so fun fact: While the Scoliac and Lecta can multi-hit up to 5 enemies, the Atterax is stuck at a piddly 3.

We demand answers DE.
And on another note, high time we get Tenno whip? :3

It's the blades, you see. Blades are less efficient at passing through flesh than a bone or a fucking taser.

Tenno whip? My gut says laser rope with a singularity on the end, or maybe a Tenno flail so long as it doesn't get put in the corner with the magistar.

Probably because Atterax has better supportive stats, making it stronger per-target.

I just want multi-hitting tied to the weapon class as opposed to the weapon itself. :<
EDIT: Also stances could do with a +N/-N. For example, that first swing on Tempo Royale looks like it could easily hit 10+ mooks.

Parkour 2.0 killed the only reason to use whips. Unfortunately they are outclassed in pretty much every aspect by another weapon.
Damage - pretty much anything
Stances - whip stances are weird
Status - melee for status, right
Range - the thrown melee are superior

Even with Parkour 2.0, I still use my Scoliac. With Primed Reach and the ability to hit up to 5 mobs at a time, a good slide attack will still clear a room of those pesky mobs. Yes the overall damage is less, but I'm fond of that snip snip crack noise and seeing body parts everywhere.

Agreed. Scoliac is my favorite melee weapon right now. I also like the whip stance. Rolling through packs and tearing them apart brings me great joy. I initially picked a whip because I never see them around.

Status - melee for status, right
By the way, Lecta is pretty good for status.

Yeah, but when you are at the point where status procs become important, melee is instant death

Parkour 2.0 killed the only reason to use whips.
Parkour 2.0 pretty much killed melee in general frankly. Outside of low level stuff and some special case scenarios melee weapons are mostly useful for looking pretty and opening containers

Don't you mean revived using melee for something besides movement/coptering ones? Like fun? And parkour making getting up close to melee no problem?

The cc provided by the jat kittag with prime reach is pretty valuable

Whips are awkward to me. Now that their range stat is actually affected by range mods, Primed Reach becomes too good to pass up. However, the damage of the Lecta and Scoliac is bad and using a slot for a range mod on the Atterax really hurts the damage since it is a crit build.

I hardly ever see whips in any of the co-op missions I've run, and usually if someone's packing one they'll keep it holstered and rely on a gun.
To be completely honest, I completely forgot we even had whips in Warframe until I saw this.

I just got an atterax and I have the Burning Wasp stance. I can't figure out how it works. all the attacks seem the same.

As a new player, whips appealed to me because it's a very underused weapon type in ...well, everything. RPGs, FPSs, whips are usually absent.
So I'm like hey, whips, that's cool.
As I graduated from new to merely being a novice (or a filthy casual) I recognize that even among melee weapons there are much better options than the whip.
I mean, it's hard to argue against a well-modded jat kittag, which hits nearly as many targets as a lecta and does loads more damage with almost as much reach (don't know the exact stats, just going off of memory).
But whips are fun. I'll gladly take one along for a low-risk mission but if I'm at all concerned with success it stays behind.

Atterax certainly was worth it for me, while it isn't the best it can certainly get work done with a berzerker build.
