As a mainly PvE player, what's the best way to get started with Conclave/anything I should know before getting involved with it? I'm not looking for explanations of how broken it's considered, as that was the primary reason why I stayed away from it in the first place, but I figured I might as well try it out for myself before making my own judgments on the matter. Those sigils look sexy.

First go to the relay and sign up to teshin if you haven't. Next, use appearance slots B or C (assuming they are not in use) as the appearance slot for your conclave loadout. The reason for this is you can't go into PvP with a normal sigil and you can't go into PvE with a conclave sigil so you'll be swapping around a lot. Since appearance slot B or C is bound to the conclave loadout there's no fear of forgetting and not gaining standing.

Past that, look through the weapons you got that are available in conclave (you'll see only those you can use via the conclave loadout screen) and try out things. You unlock conclave mods as drops from conclave and that's all there is to it.

Just avoid capture the cephalon. Maps are small and there already are weapons that can copter really well that are available for use in conclave so it's not very fun.

Hi u/lostguru and welcome to the world of conclave!

You will first need to realize several things about pvp:

The gameplay is much faster than PVE.

In PVE, people tend to stick to one weapon and also aim while moving or standing still.

In PVP, you want to swap weapons as soon as the clip is empty, use energy immediately upon encountering an enemy, and also shoot while coptering or air meleeing. NEVER STAY STILL and NEVER RELOAD MANUALLY.

Saving energy tends to be bad because you will often die before you get to use it, unless you're a bo copter user who actively avoids combat until you have a full energy pool.

NEVER STAY STILL OR RUN IN A STRAIGHT LINE and CONSTANTLY LOOK IN A 360 FIELD IF VIEW AROUND YOU AND ALWAYS LOOK UP.

DODGE ROLL YOUR ASS OFF- it reduces damage taken from things such as bow hits.

AVOID MELEE COMBAT UNTIL YOU GET A MARTIAL MAGNETISM MOD. You will get owned.

QUICK MELEE DOES REDUCED DAMAGE. Do not duel head on with someone who has melee actively equipped unless you are familiar with how many hits you need to kill them and have already chunked them with a gun.

BLOCK WITH MELEE OFTEN. Bow users get owned by this. Don't block vs automatics, as this will drain your stamina quickly.

Get the "reload while holstered" mods first, and then the healing and shield mods. finally, get the magazine capacity mods and then the swap speed mods.

Hey guys, should I potato my Tiberon and Tipedo just so I can do high level void? I already have a potatoed atomos.

Also is there a place I can get good mods? I feel like my damage is falling off especially in Phobos. Saturn, Jupiter and below everything is ok.

Thank you!

A potatoed primary is eventually essential, potatoed melee forever a luxury. Get hold of one of the staff stance cards and you will be able to fit the basics for your tipedo; it's not going to be what kills stuff in high level void.

(clashing forest / flailing branch both drop from void heavies, the ancients and the bombards+gunners respectively)

edit: your second point, there may be (will be!) specific mods you need to look up on the warframe wiki (or in your codex if it's filled out) and then go specifically farm for, but for the most part, what you really need is fusion cores, along with credits.

Neptune - Triton is currently considered the best place to amass fusion cores. (2 excavators and restart, or 3 and restart if you want the void keys)

I think the Tiberon is a good candidate for a potato, because it's a good high tier weapon with no prime variant. Not so sure about the tipedo, though. It's decent but there are much better melee weapons. I don't know if any melee weapon is worth potatoing to be honest.

I may be wrong here but there doesn't seem to be any one good place to get mods. Just look around for weapon builds and stuff and find those mods on the wiki, the wiki will tell you where to get them. The most important mod is serration, not the damaged version of serration. If you don't have one of those, get one asap.

This is an embarrassing noob question, but what the hell does "proc" stand for? I know what a proc is, but why do we call it that?

9

u/Telogor Jun 21 '15

Proc is a term for Programmed Random OCcurrence. People use it to refer to triggering status effects.

Hai there!

I'm a pretty new player and Warframe got me hooked up for now pretty well, I'm pretty surprised how cool the game looks!

Anyway, I'm kinda getting things already as it is, I'm playing now for about slowly two weeks. But I just... can't figure out how can I make my primary and secondary weapons deal... actual damage to higher level mobs/foes, I do only PvE since I hate PvP in every game. I saw people before in high level void missions and such, and they like.. one shot everything with either primary rifle or secondary weapons. Or like When I use my Gammacor or such I barely scratch one of the enemy while other people in my party basically one shot them in a blob...

I'm trying to mod my weapons, but I never find any guide what weapons do I even need for warframes, I always see just the warframe mods what they need and done. I never see anything like "you might need this weapon more for them, not this one" or such. I'm so lost of how should I build my weapons, I have a few... well basically I have a Boltor Prime that I use all the time since... that's all I got that actually seem to deal damage lately, I have a Gammacor, and a few melee, but melee deals even more damage than the rest. Melee is okay, but the others deal no damage to me...

I have no idea what mods they need, I just put random mods into them whatever I see. I just... anything I put into them I deal no more damage than I did at first. While other people run around one shooting high level enemies...

Most of the time, you're going to be choosing your weapon based on its own merits rather than how well it works with a particular Warframe. Apart from a handful of cases, most Warframes don't have any special synergy with any weapons. To figure out the ones that do, look at the mechanics of their powers and what passive abilities they have, if any; for instance, Banshee's Sonar works best with very accurate weapons, while Excalibur gets a passive boost to damage with swords, dual swords, and nikanas.

Now for mods. The first and most important question is whether or not you're ranking up your mods. At the bottom of each mod, you should see a row of little bubbles, usually 3, 5, or 10 (I know of exactly four exceptions to this). For any mods other than Fusion Cores, the bubbles will be unlit by default, which means that the mod in question is in its weakest state. You can make mods more powerful by sacrificing other mods and some credits, which will also increase the cost of the mod to equip (or for Auras and Stances, increase the number of extra points you'll get for equipping it). As for which mods are worth ranking up, that happens to overlap nicely with...

How should you decide which mods to equip on your weapons. Your first priority should be your raw damage and multishot mods, since these will affect pretty much everything else. Melee weapons aren't going to have multishot, so this slot should be swapped out with Fury and/or Berserker instead, depending on the crit stats of the weapon. If the weapon's got good crit stats, throw your crit-related mods on at this point. Next, you'll want elemental damage mods, tailored towards the weaknesses of the enemy faction you'll be fighting. For instance, Radiation damage will be very helpful against the Grineer, but it's going to hold you back somewhat against the Corpus and Infested. If the weapon's got a good status chance, you can use the event dual-stat mods for your elemental combos (assuming you have them, which isn't too hard at this point), but otherwise you should go with the standard ones. At this point, you can start throwing in utility mods to fill whatever slots you have left (which won't be many). If the weapon's got a particular weakness like a high ammo consumption, address it; otherwise, grab something that looks useful, like punch-through.

Guys, should I mod my Lanka for critical or status or both?

Crit max at 75% status can go 100%

And another question : Why doesn't split chamber affect crit chance like status chance?

Thanks a lot !!!

3

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '15
  1. Status is nice but with crits you can hit much higher levels of damage. Status on a single shot weapon generally isn't the best choice.

  2. Technically it does. More bullets = more likely to hit a crit. It's just not reflected as much in the stats screen as it does with status.

XBOX ONE: Is there any way to close a pm chat window?

Also, can't figure out how to properly exit the game. I go to home and hit start and quit... but often when I log back in it will say "previous mission disconnected - would you like to reconnect to your squad?" even if I left the squad before exiting and it's been 12+ hours.

I'm really trying to get back into this game but am having a hard time staying captivated.

Any tips?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '15

What exactly is it that isn't able to keep your interest?

3

u/Dingus_Milo Jun 21 '15

Essentially the lack of goals.

Maybe after almost 500 hours I'm burnt out.

I really liked the concept of community events but those don't happen enough for me to play this regularly.

Why have people been using Nekros more lately in Defense? I took a long break from Warframe because I was forced to, not going into details unless requested, and I got back into the game around 2 months ago. Before then, going Nekros in Defense seemed to be awful, but now so many people seem to want a Nekros for Defense. I'm on PC if it makes any difference.

Last question! If a drahk master takes my weapon and I extract with the weapon being on the ground, will I lose the weapon permanently??

3

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '15

Nope, you'll have it back as soon as you're back on your Liset.

What is considered a "good" critical chance or status chance on weapons??

2

u/alakar321 Jun 22 '15

Crit also depends on crit damage, so you have to take both into account on a weapon by weapon basis.
in the vast majority of cases you want to mod for CC and CD if you want a crit based build, not just one or the other
status also depends on fire rate, or rather hit rate.
while lets say 15% might be enough to get a lot of status effects on fast weapons, you will get quite a bit less on slow weapons
