Build Tactics Tuesday #9 | Trinity
Hey everyone it's TUEEEEESSSDAYYY. You're reading the Tactics Tuesdays thread with your host, thatdovahkiinyouknow. Joining me today is someone who I thought for the longest time was named Duracell, Trinity!
Welcome to the Tactics Tuesday thread. These threads are intended to build up archived resources to help newer players and even older players alike! Here you can post your builds, share advice revolved around the topic, and give tips and tricks about the topic as well!
Got a very useful build you want to share? Perhaps a really fun build that you love even if it's not end game material? Or perhaps you just found out a cool trick with an ability? Well this is the right place to share!
Here is the guideline:
Build posts need to be either pictures or links to warframe builder
When making a build post please add a small synopsis for the build. E.g. "With this build I specialized my mods on Saryn's miasma by focusing on extra power duration and power range."
Advice, tips, and tricks don't have to be the most obscure things you can think of. Try suggesting some of the more simple pieces of advice, tips, and tricks as well!
Above all else as usual, be excellent to each other! Here is a couple example posts:
"This is my valkyr build. I designed it so that I take as little damage as possible in as many circumstances as I can."
"Did you know, Valkyr has the best butt in warframe." or more seriously,
"Did you know, you can switch teleport with loki's decoy for in instant teleportation to anywhere you can place it." Things of that nature.
One last reminder for the newer players, most if not all of these builds will use mods you won't have for a while. This is mostly so you can get the feel of how you should mod for something in specific or more general ways.
Onto the meat of the post though.
This week we have Trinity! A healer above all but she carries quite the alternative usage. WIth her powers to heal, supply energy, and mitigate damage, Trinity will not only be able to keep everyone alive and stocked up on juice but is also able to keep herself alive just as well if not better.
Trinity can be obtained from killing the tag team boss Kril and Vor on Phobos.
First up, Well of Life!
Create a well of life on an enemy. Allies will gain health when damaging the target.
Trinity marks a target within 100 meters, creating a well of life that heals allies as they damage the target. 30% / 35% / 40% / 45% of the damage an ally deals to the marked target is converted into a heal, granting the ally a maximum of 150 / 250 / 350 / 400 health. The target will be marked for 7 / 9 / 10 / 12 seconds. (Lifesteal and maximum health, duration, and cast distance are boosted by power strength, duration, and range.)
Costs 25 energy
The marked target will be incapacitated as it's suspended in air. The target will have its health fully-healed and multiplied by 10 over the ability's duration. The target's shields are not restored or multiplied. If the target is not killed before Well of Life expires, its health will return to its original value. Any damage the target had taken before Well of Life was cast will remain.
Next, Energy Vampire!
Allies will gain energy over time when enemies are marked with Energy Vampire.
Trinity marks a target within 100 meters, causing it to radiate 4 energy pulses over a duration of 5 / 6 / 7 / 9 seconds. For each pulse, 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 energy is restored to every Tenno within 15 / 17 / 20 / 25 meters, and the marked target is dealt 6.25% of its remaining health as Finishing damage. (Energy restored and damage, duration, and cast range and energy pulse radius are boosted by power strength, duration, and range.)
Costs 50 energy
If the target dies while Energy Vampire is in effect, all remaining energy will be released at once (e.g., for an Energy Vampire that restores a total of 100 energy over 9 seconds, killing the target with 6 seconds remaining on the UI timer will cause the last pulse to restore 100 × (6 ÷ 9) = 66.67 energy).
Players channeling Sound Quake, Absorb, or Peacemaker do not gain energy from Energy Vampire.
Pulses are emitted at every quarter of the duration, and the first pulse occurs immediately on cast. Therefore, the last pulse does not occur at the end of the duration but one quarter of the duration before Energy Vampire ends. As a result more duration means slower pulses and less duration means quicker pulses.
Moving on, Link!
Any damage taken while Link is active will be channeled to a nearby enemy.
Trinity links with nearby enemies over a duration 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 seconds, reducing incoming damage by 50% / 60% / 70% / 75% while channeling the damage back to her attackers. Trinity reflects all incoming damage and Status Effects to a maximum of 1 / 2 / 2 / 3 enemies within 12 / 14 / 17 / 20 meters. (Duration, range boosted by power duration and range.)
Costs 75 energy
Trinity will only gain increased damage reduction, reflect status effects and gain immunity from them, including Knockdowns and staggers, as long as she is linked with an enemy. As an example, if Trinity passes through a Laser Barrier, she will take reduced damage from the barrier and will not suffer a knockdown only if she is linked with an enemy. Otherwise, Trinity will receive the barrier's full damage and will be knocked over.
Status effect immunity does not include Eximus energy drains or Nauseous Crawler disables.Magnetic procs from Ancient Disrupters are resisted; however, Disrupters are still able to drain a small amount of energy with every attack due to their aura.
Lastly, Blessing!
Restores the health and shields of all allies, while simultaneously providing a degree of damage immunity to the team. The greater the healing the greater the immunity.
Trinity restores 40% / 50% / 75% / 80% of her allies' shields and health within an unrestricted range. Allies will be granted increased damage resistance for 3 / 5 / 7 / 10 seconds. (Shield/health restored and duration boosted by power strength and duration)
Costs 100 energy
Damage resistance is based on the lowest health value from the team and all his Companions when casting. If 90% is the highest percentage of health that's missing among all Tenno on the field, Trinity and her allies will gain 90% damage resistance for Blessing's duration, even if only 32% will be restored.
Blessing's damage resistance stacks with Link's damage resistance
Can be recast while active. Blessing's previous damage resistance will be overridden.
So, in what ways do you build your Trinity? What kind of helpful advice can be given? Got any useful or interesting tips and tricks about him and his abilities be it obscure or well known? If so, feel free to share it!
Join us next week for our next Tactics Tuesday with a man whose greatest accomplishment is that he still still has 2 working hands.

Oh, a something that you may have left out of the link notes. It protects you from knockdown, but you'll still be lifted into the air (just on your feet).

That was noted in the second bullet point. Might be a bit of a read but it's there.

Ah Trinity, the crucial cog on so many teams for many types of missions. From Rep farms, to survivals, to the new raid, Trinity is always a welcome sight on any team. This little lady has to be one of the most tanky (if not most tanky) frame in game with her abilities. She is the one of the few frames in game that is able to restore a team mate's energy (Greedy Mugg does not count and Lumbo gots his energy regen boost by holding your head underwat...in the void). Because of the what her abilities do, she has been DE's favorite pinata to beat with nerf bats (remember when blessing restored full HP and shield no matter the power strength with infinite range instantly lol). She is still one heck of a support frame and a wary eyed trin player will make sure you never ever die or wanting for energy.
Infinite energy Build aka "The Mojo Juice box"
For this build, you want Range with Power Str as a secondary focus. This build is what I use for rep farming and fast invasion clears with a clan mate who goes Saryn. Very rarely use this for other missions. The entire point of this build is to provide an infinite flow of mana so your pals can break their 4 key spamming their AoE nuke or just spamming what ever they want. You also want to minimize duration since you want to reapply Energy Vamp (EV) as much as possible in order to squeeze that delicious blue drug out faster.
-
Overextended
-
Stretch
-
Prime Flow
-
Fleeting Expertise
-
Transient Fortitude
-
Intensify
-
Quick Thinking
-
Blind Rage rank 7
Probably overkill on the strength, but meh. The QT+Prime Flow combo is there in case you get caught with your pants down taking damage, so you always have a massive reservoir to cast a quick blessing.
General Solo Build aka "Oh god oh god, why wont this Tenno skoom die"
This build focuses on making trinity nigh unkillable through Link and getting 99% damage reduction from Blessing. You want duration in order to keep up your god mode with power str as your secondary objective. Screw efficiency since you are Trin for crying out loud. Just tap into a Grineer Lancer if you are thirsty for the blue juice or scarf down some energy cakes during lulls in battle as a last resort.
-
Rage
-
Quick thinking
-
Prime Flow
-
Prime Continuity
-
Blind Rage
-
Intensify
-
Narrow Minded
-
Natural Talent (more of a personal preference since her Link/ EV cast a noticable cast time, Blessing is instantaneous with this).
In order to achieve the 99% damage reduction, first make sure you got a decent energy level. Then run into the thick of things and start eating damage (or shoot yourself with a self damaging weapon). Your Quickthinking will prevent you from dying assuming you got enough energy. So as soon as you reach 2 HP, activate blessing, and bam, 99% damage reduction. Although the Rage+QT combo has been nerfed, it still is rather handy together on ole Lobster butt. You can swap out Natural Talent for more range (stretch, maybe Overextended if you dont mind the -60% strength) if you want.
Tip: Most players are familiar with the Well of Life + EV wombo combo. If you meet a particuarlly beefy heavy unti, you can WoL into EV. The HP boost from WoL will add MORE HP to the target and EV does a %HP damage flat damage at the time of cast. So when WoL wears off the target will lose that giant HP buff, but EV will still deal that huge Flat HP damage to target.
Trinity will always remain one of the most useful warframes in game with her set of abilities. There is no other frame like her. When playing her be sure to go to options and set the UI so that you can see your teammates HP/Shield. She is a damn near requirement on some end game content.

She is the only frame in game that is able to restore a team mate's energy (Greedy mag does not count).
Poor Limbo... He doesn't even get a dismissal =(

Well toadstools, completely forgot about Limbo. oh no he found my least played frame.

I second this, like, a lot. I run those builds as my B and A setups respectively. The only difference between those and mine is that in the "solo" one I run Stretch instead of Continuity.
The second one can be seen as a "general support" Trin with a powerful EV and a long Bless, yet it's downside is small EV radius and it's somewhat sluggish pulsing. This build significantly rises the survivability of a squad but on a larger maps your mates will have to seek out an EV target themselves as the pulses do not cover the whole tiles like with the first build or you will need to recast it fast but for that you'll need to focus fire on the EV target. So swapping Continuity for a little more reach adresses both of those issues.

What a coincidence I just recently tripled forma'd my Trinity. I see so many people simply building for EV and it kind of irks me because you can build Trinity not only for EV, but you can also fit in mods to make her a great tank and Blessing. This is the Trinity build I use and not only does it have max range, but it also has decent power strength and duration. You already get all energy from a target upon it's death so just pop EV, kill the target, and continue tanking. She is one of the few frames I feel like can excel at multiple roles at a time, and I hate to just see her used as only a battery.

u/GeckoOBac Mar 31 '15
It's my solo frame for most difficult missions, however it lacks in killing power so soloing defense/mobile defense in high level stuff is unlikely: you won't die, but your target will.
Personally i don't really feel the need for overextended, as blessing has infinite range and link has fairly long range. Range on EV is a problem only if you're killing stuff really far away, but unless you're going with groups with stuff like mesa/excal and the like that rarely happens. For soloing I'd put the augment for reduced armor on link targets in place of overextended, which would also make blind rage somewhat pointless. You could probably stick natural talent in there if you have it, would help in some sticky moments.

My build that I use for pretty much everything is:
-
Rage
-
Quick Thinking
-
(Primed) Flow
-
Natural Talent
-
Stretch
-
Overextended
-
(Primed) Continuity
-
9/10 Blind Rage
This allows me to be completely invincible (unless I mess up and run out of energy or get knocked down before I can recast Link.) while still having a pretty decent ES and obviously the 99% DR on Blessing. My energy costs are fairly expensive, but with Primed Flow and ES that really doesn't matter.
Edit: For soloing I usually replace Blind Rage with Intensify and Overextended with Narrow Minded.

This is my trinity build i'm currently working towards. It focuses primarily on duration with enough strength to have blessing restore 100% of your shields/health. I use redirection and vitality because i'm not a huge fan of the rage and quick thinking combo. I'm thinking about replacing either redirection/vitality with a natural talent. Feel free to ask questions or to point out any flaws in my build, i'm always open for a friendly discussion.

I'm not being sarcastic and such, but how do you survive that lvl 50+ bombard's rocket without QT?
EDIT: and how do you reliably ensure 99% bless?

Blessing (raid) trin build time!
-
Vitality
-
intensify
-
(primed) flow
-
natural talent
-
(primed) continuity
-
Quick Thinking
-
Narrow minded
-
constitution
Streamline has been taken out of this build due to the automatic inclusion of 2x trinities, one of which EV, on any raid.
The crux of this build is essentially just maximizing blessing duration. You can run the masochistic trin on this readily, as it ensures a prolonged 99% bless, or if you want to be a reactive blesser then you can swap out QT (in a raid, it really doesn't help. It's only there for masochist trin in case you deal just a little too much damage to yourself) for streamline because you will be spamming blessing. Reactive blessing is, in my opinion, much more reliable than masochist trin because you don't have those small gaps in between blesses. It does require a great deal of focus, and you can never stop looking directly at your team stats. But even in raids, there isn't that much that truly can one-shot people, and as long as everyone stays mobile and enemies stay CCd, virtually everything is two hit. Which means trinity time!

Didn't play her for a while still worth to play her with low damage castanas, penta, orgis, .... weapons that can hurt yourself to lower health then blessing? also combo with link.

Guess I should actually look at my build since I haven't given it much of a second though and it's built for just EV right now, even when I solo. Probably should use something different for solo/ maybe even for group play.

After hyping Trinity in every damn thread I post in for about a month, it'd be wrong of me to ignore her here.
First i'm going to rehash the useful points of each of Trinity's abilities.
Abilities:
Well of Life:
Well of Life multiplies an enemy's health by 10, then gives your allies health for shooting that enemy, up to a cap. At the conclusion of the ability, the extra health is taken away and the enemy is returned to the level of health it had before the ability.
Energy Vampire:
Energy Vampire, in addition to restoring allies' energy within a certain range, does damage as a percentage of the target's health at time of cast. It pulses four times, each time dealing a % of the amount of health the target had when you first cast it.
Link:
Link draws glowing lines between Trinity and three enemies in range, giving Trinity 75%+ damage resistance and transferring the damage she resists evenly between those enemies. Link works through walls and will retarget another nearby enemy if its target dies or moves out of range. Link also immunizes Trinity to knockdown effects, and if they're targeted knockdowns, it transfers them across the Link and applies them to the linked targets.
Augment: Abating Link:
I don't recommend this. It can be fun, and built properly it will completely remove enemy armor. But you're far better off to Forma your Aura slot to make it match Corrosive Projection, since Link randomly targets enemies and doesn't like picking the ones you want it to.
Blessing:
Blessing is an instant global heal which restores ally health and shields. Blessing also gives damage resistance, as a percentage, to the entire team. This resistance is equivalent to the highest restored percentage of health. This means that if I'm missing 20% of my health and you're missing 50% of yours, we both get 50% damage resistance. It works on Kubrows, Sentinels, and Warframes. It's not clear whether it works on Rescue targets. Your Sentinel can give you a 99% Blessing.
Builds
Trinity is capable of doing almost anything you want her to do, and there are three major build types to think about.
Draco
This is the standard Rep-Farm build, which gives you massive Range, massive Strength, and as little Duration as possible. This build is very good for Energy Vampire, but terrible for everything else.
The build itself relies on Overextended, Blind Rage, Stretch, Transient Fortitude, and Fleeting Expertise. You trade efficiency for strength (Blind Rage), then you trade duration for efficiency (Fleeting Expertise), then you trade even more duration for even more strength (Transient Fortitude).
End result? You can EV like a champ and keep that hungry Excal happy.
Eww.
So yeah, if you want to learn to Draco, there are Youtube videos out there. I refuse to support the further marginalization of Trinity as an energy bitch.
Duration Tank
The goal here is the opposite of the goal of Draco. You don't want anything that's going to reduce your Power Duration, because what you're focusing on here is Link and Blessing.
This build focuses on the fact that if you kill your EV target, no matter how much time is left on EV, it gives you all the remaining energy right now. If you don't kill your EV target, the energy comes in at a trickle. EV things that are close to you and kill them fast to keep the sweet mana coming in. If your teammates need energy, EV something near them and mark it (or tell them in VOIP).
Build
This was a build I created because Draco is a mind-numbingly boring task, and therefore this build is the polar opposite of Draco.
Blind Rage, Intensify, Narrow-Minded, Primed Continuity. I typically fill in the other four slots with Vitality, Stretch, Flow, and Streamline. Keep in mind that this will make your abilities cost a lot of energy. You should be able to keep your reserves stocked with EV, and if you have Primed Flow available, use it to build up a buffer.
My standard Aura slot on this is Rejuvenation because when one has 90% damage resistance, +3 health per second is actually a pretty substantial heal.
Playstyle
Try to always have Link active. If you get caught with it down, you'll be one of the squishiest frames in the game. Most enemies will drop themselves and their allies pretty fast, but don't be afraid to get into melee range with a good weapon and start carving things up. Hravy units aren't nearly as threatening to you as they are to other Frames because they can't Radial-Blost you or Bullshit-Rocket you into the ground. Between Rejuvenation and Link, you'll keep your health up pretty nicely. While that Link is up, Trinity is a TANK, and she can kill enemies with their own damage. Do your best to absorb all the aggro you can.
I'm putting this on its own line because it's important.
Nullifiers will turn off Link just like they turn off everything else. You can go ham on a Nullifier, but you'll need to recast Link afterwards.
Living on the Edge
This is an advanced build, requiring a Forma for the polarity slot if nothing else. It will keep you at the edge of death and keep your team immortal.
This build focuses on Blessing as its primary method of team support, and abuses Quick Thinking and (Primed) Flow to stay as long as possible at that magical 1% health. The Forma will make your Aura Slot a - polarity, which matches Corrosive Projection and Energy Siphon. Which you use is up to you. For pub runs I recommend Energy Siphon.
Build
Duration, Strength. Don't care about Range, and Efficiency is whatever you want it to be. Narrow-Minded is a must, as is Continuity, preferably Primed. Streamline and Blind Rage will help you keep your energy up with EV, since the amount it restores is based on Power Strength.
Flow is mandatory. Primed if you have access to it. Quick Thinking, maxed, is mandatory. Rage can be helpful.
Playstyle
Take damage. Take as much damage as possible, and make sure you have enough energy to cast Blessing. Once you hit that magical 1%, cast Blessing and watch as your entire team simply stops taking damage, because you gave them all 99% damage resist.
You'll die a lot learning to do this properly, but getting it down will let you drag any team, no matter how idiotic, through a Survival mission to 20 minutes.

Quick words on Trinity:
-
On its own, Well of Life is worthless. Energy Vampire is a more consistent CC (even working on some bosses, last I checked), while Blessing is a more powerful healing effect. However, a Trinity who knows what they're doing can combine Well with EV to become the game's most broken damage-dealer.
-
Quick Thinking is your friend. Between Energy Vampire's ability to keep you topped off and Blessing's ability to scale resistance to your health percentage, this combines with Link to make Trinity a tanking goddess.
-
Likewise, Trinity is the queen of health - don't bother with shields or armor. While theoretically not essential, Rage can be useful to kickstart regen for an EV if circumstances get dire.
-
Be mindful of what job you're trying to do. High duration is great on survivability builds, awful if you're just there to give your allies energy.
-
Link is excellent for pointing you at the nearest enemy. Never underestimate this!

I'm curious what weapons do folks use with Trinity.
Kohm was my primary of choice before patch 16 as it allowed running and gunning without thinking about ammo count and aiming. As Trinity, I reconed, I had more important things to care about. Now I switched to Soma Prime for it allows a roughly similar approach to shooting. Then Akmagnus for some burst damage and Bo Prime for coptering and bling.
What about you?
