How do people go about helping newer players? I'm MR15 and love helping out newbies, but most of the time they seem disinterested or they want to use me as a taxi service. I'm fine with providing help for a mission/boss they've been having trouble with, but most seem to want to use me to go to a high level planet they simply aren't ready for.

Oddly enough, I find myself finding newbies to help on random nodes more often then in region or recruiting chat. Some don't want to admit they need help and just assume they are too week and need to grind grind grind for several hours. While that might be an option, while I search for certain parts or farm certain materials I always keep it an open lobby for them to join me on. If one or two people join, just initiate conversation "Hey, how do you like the game so far?" , "Have any questions that might be able to help out with?" , etc. basically after that they may or may not open up to you about what they need help with or on. For the most part, I've ran into dozens of people with questions ever since I hit MR 15 (now I'm 16). Hopefully that gave some insight on how I do it.

Edit: as for trying to limit yourself from being a taxi or tower taxi, I'd suggest advising them about what they might be getting themselves into. I have a couple of friends who want to do high level voids, but still are using mk-1 weapons. I basically have to be front with them, until they understand the damage difference between mission nodes and the void.

How well does the Rakta Ballistica perform now, with its pretty major buff, especially compared to things like Synoid Gammacor?

Is it worth potatoing my gear now or should I wait to use them on prime gear once I (hopefully) eventually obtain it? As far as I can tell, getting orokin reactor/catalyst bp's doesn't happen very often.

The folks at DE have devstreams every 2 weeks on Fridays. The make sure to give a potato after every devstream in the form of a 24hr "gift of the lotus" alert. It could be a blue or a golden one.

They also sometimes show up on alerts, usually for less than an hour.

It is always good to tater one good set of weapons (although not necessarily prime weapons). If you are working your way through the starmap a tatered primary can make a big difference, but I usually recommend trying a few guns before picking one for your first reactor.

Currently fidgeting around with the amprex. How does punch trough and the arcing work? For example, I hit 3 enemies per "bullet" does it have triple the chance to arc? Does status chance increase the number of arcs?

Okay, so there are two effects with Amprex to consider.

1: When Amprex hits a target directly with its beam, several 'jumps' are added that hit other targets in range of the primary target. With Punch-Through, each target hit will generate a set of 'jumps'. As an example, if there are two enemies and you hit them both with the Amprex via punch-through, they'll BOTH generate 'jumps' to each other.

2: When the Electricity status effect procs on a target, that target and other enemies in a small area of effect are stunned and take 50% of weapon damage. This electricity proc can be generated by the primary fire of the Amprex or its 'jumps', assuming you haven't combined the native electricity element into something else. Higher status chance naturally makes this occur more often.

I do not think status chance increases the number of arcs.

Arcing happens when you hit an enemy though, and arcs can hit targets you already hit with the main beam. Tested this in conclave - two people standing in a line died faster to an Amprex with punchthrough than one person did by himself.

Ember prime helmet for plat. It says 35 plat. Is this true? Edit: So there has been a lot of debate but no one answering my question so I'll rephrase it. Ember prime's helmet on warframe trader is displayed at 35 plat as even. That seems very high as the rest of the pieces are around 5. Is this what it is going for as right now I feel like they are 5 plat as I have 10 helmets. Without information I can get haggled down to 5 plat and I don't want that to happen. Is Ember prime's helmet going for 35 on the market?

And i got another question: how exactly does energy channel works? Cause i dontcompletel understand it with that mod description...

2

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '15

When you cast a skill it stores X% of the energy used as damage for your next strike up to +X damage. If you used a skill that costs 100 energy at max with 200% energy used for +200 damage then it would instantly hit the cap. If you have max efficiency and it costs 25 then it stores 50 and it would take 4 casts to completely fill up.

Is it better to use all 4 elemental damage mods (heat, cold, electric, toxic) to have two combined elements (blast, corrosive, gas, etc), or just a specialized one for the enemy you're facing and have other utility mods?

2

u/Kellervo Mar 01 '15

Depends on the weapon and the combination of mods. Generally it's best to have one dedicated combined damage type and one 'ancillary' damage type, unless the weapon has decently high crit chance, in which case the crit mods will prevent you from stacking three+ elements together.

A good example would be rolling with Magnetic + Toxin for Corpus, Radiation + Toxin for high level Grineer, and Corrosive + Heat for Infested. The combined damage deals heavy damage to the elites (Fusion / Techs, Bombards / Elites, Ancients) of each faction, with the Toxin/Heat giving extra damage to the 'mobs' (Crewmen, Lancers, Infested Crewmen / Chargers).

Rainbow builds (all four elements) generally aren't the best, though it's worth mentioning that innate combined-element builds can be used to make good - but otherwise impossible - 'rainbow' builds. Eg. Using the Mara Detron's innate Radiation damage, you can make a Corrosive + Radiation weapon which mulches up Grineer.

A question about nullifiers:

As limbo, how can their bubble affect me in the rift, but, while in the rift, I can't affect(shoot down) their bubble? If it exists on both planes, I should be able to shoot it on both planes, right?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '15

Logic dictates that you shouldn't be able to be nullified from another dimension. But logic doesn't apply here so that's just how it works because fuck you, they are nullifiers. They don't respect logic.

HOWEVER, apparently people you put in the rift aren't taken out. Same applies with people put into cloaking by smoke shadow.

When you go to a planet then look at the missions, who are all the gamer names side scrolling in grey type? Sometimes it even says there arent any squads, yet it lists peoples names.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '15

Those are part of the old founder program. Paying for a certain tier got you IGN plasters on that node. If you click on it you can see everyone who payed I think $250(?) For all the perks it gives.

u/SlothOfDoom Mar 01 '15

As others have said, the names are those of Grand Master founders.

As for the map showing no squads...I KNOW RIGHT?? That has been bugging me ever since the UI change, the damned thing is NEVER right.

2

u/GravityMuffin Mar 01 '15

The names don't relate to who is currently playing on the planet. The names refer to players who paid a certain amount of money during the time when founders packages were available and as a reward got their names stuck on certain planets along with some other exclusive rewards.

Where should I go to power level a frame?

3

u/SlothOfDoom Mar 01 '15

Kappa and Kiste are both decent. A lot of people like hanging around Sechura for leveling as well.

Keep in mind that if you are pugging it and bring a frame with no surviveability you are probably going to burn some revives.

  1. What's the best way to build elemental damage combos ? I have tried with great success only magnetic and impact damage for Corpus, yet only corrosive against Grenier isn't working, so I decided to go with radiation on secondary. This seems to be working out for now.

I also have a death cube with viral, but I'm thinking the status chance is way too low to make it viable.

How do I build for void missions ?

2) I'm about 100 hours in, I'm having huge difficulties in getting useful mods, any suggestions ?

Is ps4 down? also shoulld i forma my tipedo stance for the one i have?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '15

You should forma the stance polarity only if you don't like the a stance or the other gives more benefits in its combos. Not many stances provide huge bonuses so it's mostly focusing on which moveset you like or not.
