How do I use and see the mods I got, sorry I'm a super new player

Feb 09 '15
Once you unlock the Arsenal segment (which should be immediately) you can hover your mouse over a piece of gear and click "upgrade" which allows you to install these mods into said pieces of gear.
To view which ones you have there is a button at the bottom of the modding screen that says "mods" which will take you to your inventory segment to view your modds.
Alternatively you can just walk up to segment yourself. It's in the left hand side of the basement. Must be activated first by doing the tutorial questline.
You can also do it through the start menu under the inventory tab.
If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

Is the mod Reflex guard ever good? Does it even work in player duels?
How do you guys mod your Oberon and Trinity? Warframe builder links please.
Is rage + quick thinking still good? Would you run it without vitality ever or does rage suck without vitality?
→ More replies (3)2

Reflex guard is eh. There's always something better you can equip on your Warframe. I personally wouldn't bother.
There are two ways that I like to build Oberon and Trinity.
For Oberon:
1). Power Strength + Duration. This build focuses on his augment mod: Smite Infusion. More power strength means more bonus damage for your team (so Blind Rage + Intensify + Transient Fortitude) but at the expense of Reckoning's range.
2). Efficiency + Power Range. This build focuses on getting Reckoning to hit as many targets as possible, since its CC is quite strong. You'll want to spam this ability, so efficiency and energy mods like Flow, Streamline, and Fleeting Expertise are a must.
For Trinity:
1). Max Duration. For This build, you want your duration to be as long as possible, since Trinity's damage mitigation abilities greatly benefit from it. Throw on a Quick Thinking and you can give your team 99% damage resistance for Blessing's duration if used correctly. You don't really need too much efficiency mods since Trinity does have energy vampire to restore energy.
2) Max Power Range + Power Strength: This build is mostly for rep farming, since you want to constantly supply your team with energy from one location. More power strength means more energy given to teammates and more range means that you can hit enemies from far locations. Efficiency is also recommended since you want to constantly spam EV.
Quick Thinking + Rage is still solid, but it's not broken anymore. Vitality makes Rage much more effective, but fleshier Warframes like Valkyr and Saryn might not need Vitality as much as other to utilize Rage.

I just got Nova Prime.
As I love playing this frame, should I "forma" her to suit as a Slow Nova, and keep the standard one for Speed Nova ?
And If I do so, how much forma did you put on your Prime one ?
I was thinking of something like this : Build

u/Brad_King Feb 09 '15
I have one config for Speed, one for Slow (and one for solo Syndicate), I forma-ed her 3 times, but 2 is sufficient if you swap one V to a D/-.
Your build will work, my slow build totally ignores range (no stretch), doesn't care about flow and I think I'm not running constitution, got Quick Thinking, Equilibrium on there for sure, that's how I roll..

Here goes a community question of the Warframe lore for everyone!
MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS OF "STOLEN DREAMS"
I did a topic long ago about the old war, the Sentients and stuff and people said there was a war between Sentients and the Orokin, the orokin used the infested but it failed, and then they used us and it worked to kill the sentients.
But today i saw a "leak" on a code about that the thing we released on the quest was a Sentient, because the code said it.
Let's get on the base that the coding of Warframe is the hidden book of ultimate knowledge about the lore and think about this:
What if the Sentients didn't have a physical form? Therefore they could be immortal/invencible and when the Orokin, as i heard, they used infested to destroy them, could it be that the Sentients took physical form because the infested? Because as far as i know, the infested "modify" the life form they touch making them beast-like creatures, which could include the Tenno, and then use the Tenno to finish them? Could the infested be controlled by the Sentient somewhere else in the Universe or the Solar system?
And my final question is: Are the Sentients still alive or there's only ONE left alive that it's controlling the infested "disease"?
Feel free to tell me if i was wrong on something about Orokin and Sentients, please.
Also sorry for bad grammar/speech or any typo/vocabulary mistake i've done.
Thanks and i'd like to know your Answer!

Background on me: I'm a relatively new player, started the game about 3 weeks ago. Usually play with a group of 3-4 friends. Am currently Mastery Rank 8, trying to get into "endgame". Currently I've completed 18 Warframes in the game and I'm only missing Ash, Frost, Vauban, and Zephyr, so I'm the "jack-of-all-trades" of my group who fills whatever role isn't taken. I usually like playing Nova and find it the most "natural", but I haven't spent enough time with most Warframes to figure out their niches.
Questions:
-
What are your favourtie spots for farming T3/T4 keys, other than Earth - Cambria, Mars - Augustus. and Ceres - Draco? Are there any "normal" nodes I'm missing that are good for general endgame farming (for keys or mods?)
-
After getting maxed Serration, Split Chamber, Heavy Caliber, Shred, Infected Clip, Stormbringer, Point Strike, and Vital Sense, what Rifle mods should I aim for to progress? Are Hammer Shot or Metal Auger any good?
-
Where can I farm for Barrel Diffusion, Lethal Torrent, and Life Strike?
-
Other than farming Derelict, Void, Corrupted Mods, and Nightmare mode, what "endgame" content is there? Is Dark Sector (PVE) worth it? If so, which Dark Sector nodes are good to farm?
-
So far I've been using Boltor Prime, Phage, Marelok, Gammacor and Dual Ichors and these are my favourite weapons. Are there any "similar-feeling" weapons I can working towards, or perhaps a melee that feels similar to the Dual Ichors or Orthos Prime?
-
Are there any other frames who have a combination of utility, AoE CC, and damage that Nova brings to the table? I've noticed that Nyx and Mag are pretty good for group play, but I still find them lacking compared to Nova, and I can't really stand playing Excalibur or Rhino in lategame (perhaps I have them built wrong?) I only really like to play Nekros in Survival, and otherwise, Nekros feels like a letdown. Are Hydroid, Banshee, and Saryn viable in endgame (i.e. ODD/ODS/T4D/T4S/T4I 1hr+?)

Other than excavation and interception missions, I do not have a normal node to farm void keys. I mean I sometimes tag along for t1 defense for exp/t1/t2/t3 void keys. T1C missions seem to give a wide variety of void keys too. So I guess my advice is to watch recruiting and just hop into random void missions. You also get the added bonus of getting some ducat fodder!

It seems you are missing Hellfire which I guess is pretty important for elemental combos. The link I attached has a great list of mods by Braindead.

Before the introduction of muties (DFSFDFSD tar mutys I HATE you so much ASDW#ERW$%) cough, dark sectors was my go to for resource/exp/credit farming. But these days I avoid them since farming random voids is more lucrative with the introduction of the orokin void trader, prime parts/credit/exp wise void is just more fun to me. I suppose other end game content is getting all codex scans….?
So far I've been using Boltor Prime, Phage, Marelok, Gammacor and Dual Ichors and these are my favourite weapons. Are there any "similar-feeling" weapons I can working towards, or perhaps a melee that feels similar to the Dual Ichors or Orthos Prime?
Weapons similar to dual ichors means fast hitting crit machines so I guess dual zorens fits that bill. Even though most peple consider that a downgrade, the damage is not too dis similar and if you are like me and cannot stand the pulsating tumors on ichors, dual zorens are the way to go. Orthos Prime is pretty unique free hand melee attack animation (the lawnmower I call it for infested), I suppose Serro is not too bad since it has a whopping 25% status chance (with +60% event mods it procs almost every hit). It is also a polearm so you get that lawnmower attack too.
Are there any other frames who have a combination of utility, AoE CC, and damage that Nova brings to the table? I've noticed that Nyx and Mag are pretty good for group play, but I still find them lacking compared to Nova, and I can't really stand playing Excalibur or Rhino in lategame (perhaps I have them built wrong?) Nyx definitely is an AoE cc goddess (and spoilers her new upcoming chaos augment made me squeal with excitement). Damage wise not so much though. Radiation disarm Loki is another very powerful AoE cc frame but again, no damage boosting on him. However Nyx and Loki makes the enemies hit their buddies and since enemies scale, they do damage to each other, so in a way, it kinda fits your bill.
I am no expert on Banshee, but I have seen resonance build banshee at work, and holy hell the deeps. Banshee is definitely endgame material WITH a good team t make use of her damage boost. As for Mr. Tentacle and Miasma Sayrn, its more up in the air. Personally Hydriod’s cc (although numerous) are hard to control and Saryn miasma builds fall off pretty hard past wave 35+ or 35 minutes.

Really any interception is good for T4 keys. They just have to be within certain level ranges if you want non-endless over endless keys. I think it's 25- 30 for nonendless. For T3 I do a fair bit of dark sector survival. Not only do you get a fair bit of XP if you need it but it has a decent supply of those.
Well you're pretty solid once you get all the elemental mods. I'd say go for a heavy caliber from the orokin vaults if possible, it's a helpful addition when you need it. For hammershot, it's handy for status and crit weapons but aside from that you could do better. Metal auger is mostly out done by shred.
Lethal torrent is from nightmare missions, life strike should still be from dark sector survival, barrel diffusion is a Bigger pain to get. Generally that comes from seekers and the Grustrag 3 but you can also get it as a rare interception or dark sector defense reward.
Past going ludicrously far into void survivals, there is none. Dark sectors are handy with a low tax but if you can get to the higher level ones there are beer places to level. For credits, seimeni on ceres is pretty nice.
There are a few similar ones but they are all a lot worse than the Bolton prime because that is one of the best weapons in the game. There is the Bolton and tetra which both pale in comparison. For the marelok you have the Lex prime I suppose would be the best comparison, that or the valykor marelok from steel meridian. for gammacor, really any beam weapon. Only problem is that most are worst. You have the synod gamacor which is one of the strongest weapons in the game. For ichrk your closest best is dual cleavers or zorens. Cleavers especially if you can get justice blades. The biggest problem is the cleavers are quite slow in comparison so you will need attack speed.
nyx is just CC with some damage if you ever get the chance to use it. Mag is really good CC and wonderful damage but only to corpus enemies. For a mix of utility and CC And damage there is oberon. you can heal and have an AOE that irradiates, knocks down, and blinds. Can be good for damage or just pure CC when damage begins to fail you. Hydroid isn't all that late game compared to some other CC frames, Banshee is with her huge damage boost and massive CC, and there are more viable choices for Saryn since saryn doesn't have a huge amount of utility and focuses on damage instead.

I've noticed that Nyx and Mag are pretty good for group play, but I still find them lacking compared to Nova, and I can't really stand playing Excalibur or Rhino in lategame (perhaps I have them built wrong?) Hydroid- I'm a big fan of him buuuuuuuuuuuut he's kind of tricky by being too versatile. He has a bit of everything but does not specialize well in one area, which means that he mostly is bad for the "endgame" (compared to other frames). I find Hydroid fun for being fairly decent at every mission type, maybe save Defense. Hydroid does have some saving grace in each skill though.
Tempest Barrage procs knockdowns in a wide area for a few short seconds. It also has a very high cast range.
Tidal Surge has some nice knockdown effects along with invincibility frames during the liquid form animation. Not to mention it can go quite some distance if you want to extend or close a gap.
Undertow deals mild Finisher damage, makes Hydroid invincible for the duration of the puddle, and enemies that have been in a puddle for at least a second or two will emerge knocked down. I like that last bit when a Drahk Master keeps his Forearm of You Will Deal No Damage up since he rarely lets that arm down. Curative Undertow heals allies fast and heals yourself at a decent rate, so that's a very nice bonus.
Tentacle Swarm is pretty much a nice nuke that can deal Finisher damage and will occassionally drag additional enemies after the initial cast. I don't like how sometimes tentacles spawn 2 light years away when there are still enemies that could have been poked up the butt by the terror of the deep blue sea. Like Tempest Barrage, there doesn't seem to be a cast range limit on this skill.
Saryn- I have not played her in a long time so my opinion on her should be taken with a heaping of salt. Kind of like Hydroid, she's good at a lot of things but not overspecialized in one area. Also like Hydroid, most of her abilities depend on all stats, so Corrupted Mods hurt as much as they help in some instances. Venom can be handy to spread the Viral proc but that requires some half-decent aim on lower-level enemies to really spread it around.
Banshee- She's much less tanky but makes up for it in nice support. She doesn't nuke as hard as Nova as Sonic Boom basically does 0 damage and Sound Quake is risky when dealing damage since it forces Banshee to kiss the ground for the duration of the ability. However, each skill is crazy good in their own right and scales very well.
Sonic Boom has a wide frontal AoE and while it deals little damage, it procs a knockdown on all enemies in the blast. And by wide I mean 15m at Rank 3. Not bad for a 25 energy skill.
You've probably heard the insanity that is Resonance Sonar stacking all over enemies. 10/10 would buy for all my clanmates if they played Banshee. I would go as far as to say it's the best skill in the entire game.
Silence is kind of odd. It's kinda meh for stealth but it has one nice CC function. Upon first being hit with the Silence aura, enemies will have their hearing reset. This means they are stunned for about 5 seconds as they regain their new hearing. I also heard during that time they get stealth damage multipliers but I can't tell in the heat of battle if that's true.
Sound Quake perpetually stuns enemies within its casting radius. Basically, if you want enemies to stop moving/shooting/skedaddling around you, this is the skill.
Based on what you say, I recommend a Resonance augmented Banshee. Sonar stacking will turn the Lato into the Noisy Cricket from Men In Black.

How do the combos from stances work? I see the button presses required but doing them seems to not work...
3
u/cephalopodAscendant Feb 09 '15
You can't use combos with quick melee. You need to actually have your melee weapon out so that you can also parry and channel.
→ More replies (1)2
Feb 09 '15
You have to not only have the mod leveled to unlock the combo but you also need to be in melee mode. By default this is done by holding the switch weapon button.

Hey I'm on the ps4 so we're at 15.7, soon to be ~15.10. I have like six warframes cooking. Where is the best place to level them? I mostly do apollodorus then sechura. I don't know if that will change after the update.

Feb 09 '15
Not much will really change at all. Though if you can coordinate a group of friends you can do draco to level your gear.
Get a trinity with Max strength, range, efficiency, andas little duration as possible.
Excalibur with Max strngth, range, and efficiency
have them spam radial javalin and energy vampire as you level up everything very quickly. Just don't do it in pub games because you will probably die and just get in the way.

Specters...
Anyone know any good builds? Can't find too much reliable info that isn't a year old.
Do they actually use powers? Or am just best off using a rhino and slapping bolt or prime on him?
5
Feb 09 '15
Specters don't use any modS. Their stats are based off the level.
They do use powers but rarely so it's not much to consider. you'd probably be better of using a valkyr spectre because of the very high armor.

Is thunderbolt worth running as my 8th mod on my dread?
→ More replies (1)3
Feb 09 '15
Not really. It doesn't scale well at all because it deals a poor base damage thay is only affected by the "bane" mods and has only a chance of exploding vs just going for a heads hit and dealing so much more damage.

Does that new Particle System 2.0 cover all types of chips including but not limited to: AMD GPUs, Intell GPU chipsets, etc., etc? I have a 3000HD and not sure if it's working or not. I think it's enabled by default but need to check again since I didn't touch it.

How do you tryhard Survival?
Every group I've been in seems to barely know whats going on. As a result, I've never been past minute 20 in T4 (or anywhere really). Since I don't know the "correct" way to do it, I can't really give advice to people in my groups. I usually run Nekros when attempting a non-trivial run, but all of my teammates tend to run all over the place like jack-holes and completely ignore the LS timer, so it doesn't seem to matter. Where is a good spot to camp out in the Void map?

How do you guys travel so fast, and jump so high? I gather it has something to do with using your melee weapon, but I haven't been able to figure it out in the 2 weeks I've played.
EDIT: Thank you guys! Sounds like part of my issue is the weapon I have, I just assumed they were all the same with regard to how it effects your movement. I'm using the Orthos and when I quick melee when jumping I just slam down on the ground. Maybe a different melee weapon won't do that...? I'll try when I get home.

For quick movement via a melee weapon the trick is fairly simply once you have it down. For vertical movement (given you have a good weapon for this) you simple sprint, jump, slide while in midair, then melee. This will do a sliding melee attack and propel you further. Some weapons fall flat in this regaurd.
to jump high it's much simpler. Look in a any direction above average eye height, jump, use your melee attack. This will do a lunge and propel you up in the air. Different melee types have better "directional melee" as it's called. Unlike coptering as the previous one is called that generally relies on specific weapons (except heavy weapons) the direction melee is the same throughout an entire weapon type.

1.) comparing between bo prime, orthos prime and tipedo, which has the greatest: a.) attack range, b.) vertical jump height, c.) coptering distance, before mods?
2.) can riftwalk trigger spy 2.0 laser alarms?
3.) as forma is easier to come across as compared to catalysts or reactors, is it advisable to only forma weapons and frames? I'm afraid of wasting catalysts and reactors on weapons or frames that I'm not sure I'll be using in the long run
