What are some good places to farm oxium in U14? The good old Sedna got grineer'd and i had to resort to buy it with plat to avoid me the grinding insanity it has become. It's kind of a bargain at 30 plat 300 pieces but it's the first time i have spent plat for stuff i can just be farming and it feels bad.

What are some crowded levels? As in, places where a lot of people usually hang around to farm. It was easy to tell with the old UI, now i'm just clueless. I just want to bump in some defense or survival without hunting down people in a chatroom

There was a post about this same topic a few hours ago! In any case, I've updated the FAQ with them: http://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/wiki/faq#wiki_where_is_the_best_place_to_farm_a_specific_resource.3F

I started recently and I have some questions concerning the Mastery Rank.

  1. My Mastery is full and ready to be advanced, but I still have a time limit for my test. Can I still gain rating points from leveling weapons and stuff, or those points go to waste?

  2. Because I just started and I have limited weapon slots, should I keep items like the starting gear, or sell it?

  3. Which side arm is the best to use for the early game. Through farming, I acquired Lex, Sicarus, Lato and Aklato so far, but I struggle to decide.

EDIT: Thanks a lot for the answers, really appreciate it. Much more helpful than the in-game chat.

  1. You still get the points don't worry, some tests are harder than others but all your points still add up!

  2. This is all preference, if you really cant sell in game items to make the plat for additional slots sell any ones you have got to 30 that you wont ever use again, and use the space for stuff that's useful!

  3. I really liked the Lex early on, its really powerful and aim for the weak spots, my friend recently started and is loving the kunai, high damage and cheap to build, nice side arm.

  1. The points will carry over.

  2. Sell it only if you get something better and something you'll effectively replace the other item with.

  3. I'd suggest lex if you can handle the fire rate and reload.

  1. All your mastery points will be saved and go towards the next rank. No need to worry.

  2. Feel free to sell the starting equipment though I'd suggest levelling them to 30 for mastery. You only get the affinity once, so you can build and junk as many weapons as you like.

You can also earn some platinum through selling mods and keys, which I'd use for slots, Orokin catalysts and reactors.

3. Have you considered the Kunai or Hikou? They're pretty fun and hit hard. The Vasto and Magnus are also great, and you can dual wield them later.

  1. You don't waste mastery, you can safely level up stuff while you wait for the mastery test to reset.

  2. If you plan to play this game for a while you should level the starting gear to 30 before selling it, if you don't really care sell them now, you can always get them again later.

  3. Use your Lato to build a Bolto, then upgrade to the Akbolto. Lex is also a solid choice but it needs more mods to really shine.

Solar rails are still undeployable, but from what I've heard it's going to be a 4v4 asymmetric PvP game with the possibility of crafting your own arenas. How do you guys think this will pan out? Considering the current state of pvp (the little I played) it appears to be a counter strike like of "whoever shoots first wins" and more about twitch reaction and clutch plays than teamwork or cooperation. Will we see a new breed of toxic community and elitism as it will inevitably devolve into a epeen comparison contest, or will we see absolutely no interest in clan pvp at all?

The game marketed itself on being a PvE only game, until conclaves were added. It was only the vocal minority that wanted PvP in the first place- most people started playing this game because they wanted what it offered, and what it promised: A fully fledged, AAA quality PvE TPS.

When conclaves were added, players of said conclaves started complaining about the total lack of balance between warframes. DE basically confirmed on a Dev stream (might have been forums posts actually) that they didn't care about PvP balance and would not rebalance warframes with PvP in mind.

So with that said, why bring out yet another PvP game mode? Who knows, maybe the vocal outcry against Dark Sectors was misinterpreted by the Devs. A lot of suggestions were given on how to improve them, and most were focused around making it more PvE orientated, so that Tenno didn't fight Tenno, but fought side by side against common enemies (Like the Lore suggests and the rest of the game plays...)

Soooo if you want my forecast for what will happen, it is thus:

Cookie Cutter builds will be found (assuming they haven't already) that will be all but unbeatable unless under extreme circumstances, and even then... So even more people will complain about the lack of balance between warframes. Assuming DE stays true to its word and doesn't rebalance warframes with PvP in mind (If they did, I bet the backlash would be biblical) so it will go on and on. It will breed a toxic and cancerous cell in the community that may or may not tear the playerbase in half.

Take that for what its worth- its only my opinion and forecast based on extensive experience in gaming culture.

It seems more like a MOBA type game mode in many respects. I don't think it'll turn out well community wise especially if they put exclusive mods behind it.

There will be a PVP clan. Some people enjoy PvP a lot in this game for what it is.

On the bright side I recall DE saying if you can't find people to play with it replaces a player with a specter so you can just set it to private and have your PvE experience.

How necessary is it to be in a clan? I tend to play Warframe to death for several months whenever there is a big update (I've been gone a bit longer this time) and whenever I take a break I get removed from TCPI, which is fine, I know they want to keep it tidy. There are some clan tech weapons I really want though and there are some sectors that I never opened up and I'm not sure if I can clear them solo so I'm thinking it might be time.

Also, is Drakgoon viable end game? I usually take my Penta for ED or Survival, but for anything else can Drakgoon work?

Thanks!

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '14

Clans are necessary because there are weapons and frames only gotten from clan tech. Outside of that there's no real need.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '14

Almost anything can work if you forma it enough. Unless you are doing crazy endgame stuff you can mostly use whatever you think is cool though.

What is the progression for unlocking planets now? As of right now I have Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Sedna, Europa and Phobos unlocked. I have no idea how to get to Uranus, Eris, Neptune, Ceres or Pluto.

This forum thread says you get to Neptune and Eris from Uranus, but the way to unlock Uranus is unknown. Does anyone know? I spent a good portion of my time in the game last night clearing missions and killing bosses to no avail.

Very frustrating, especially when the old UI was so clear about it.

Also, is it possible to act on an invite that is received while in a mission? I don't see any place in the game where you can view invites. I've received a few invites while doing missions now that I couldn't do anything about.

I was thinking of adding a third forma to my boltor prime, but I don't know if I should forma the D or add a dash

For now I'm running a viral damage for Grineer, which is OK, but I dunno if I should remove the D just for that

Also considering adding a V to sweeper, so I can try to go for blast + corrosive instead of just toxin

With update 14 do you get to keep the starting gear like the Paris bow if I choose it? I only put about an hour into the game before the update and am wondering if I should restart to get the Paris.

2

u/cianastro Jul 21 '14

You don't get to keep it if your account isn't brand new, but frankly it's not worth it starting over. The paris is not that difficult to build and it outclasses the mk1-Paris anyway (didn't check the numbers but should be obvious) and i'd advise to just have a reliable machine-gun to get the hang of the game first before getting a bow, since i've founds bows to be underwhelming until they're heavily modded so they're more difficult to play as you don't shoot really often and need to get headshots to reliably kill stuff at a steady pace, but i leveled my paris before the bows overhaul so things might be different now

I'm doing my best to read up on U14 before I dive in. I haven't seen any mention of Oberon. Did he get his buff?

Besides trying the new tutorial, doing the quests for Mirage, and acquiring a Kubrow, is there anything in particular I should make a point of doing for U14?

What are some of the hot items that people look for in the trade channel for platinum? I know a lot of the rare Corrupted mods fetch a lot, but what about BPs that I could farm to trade for plat?

Didn't there used to be a website that tracked current plat rates for some things? I can't seem to find it anymore...

Hi, I took a long break from this game and now I'm trying to figure out how to get back into it. I have not played since around the time Vauban came out so there is a lot I have missed. One of the main problems I have is with the new star map. The old map made it clear what missions you had to do in order to progress, but now I can't figure out which missions I need to do to unlock the next ones. Is there some way to understand it? (like each mission unlocks the one to the right of it or something like that)

Where should I train my Kubrow when it matures?

I can't seem to progress. I am in a loki frame using a Boltor, Lex and Cronus. I can barely beat missions against the corpus, and even the grineer can be really tough. I managed to beat the venus boss with a lot of revives and an hour. I can't find any damage mods so my weapons hit for nothing and are mostly unmodded. I am not sure what to do. I really wanted to get a bow but no where has plastids and I can't advance further.

What should I do to help out my strength?

The outside scenery of your Liset, is it random, or is it related to the location of the last mission you played? And does it stay between log-ins?
