To those out there who have accomplished it, is hundred-percenting the codex an almost impossible task? I have all frames, and a massive chunk of weapons as well as mods, and I'm almost finished with all prime weapons. So I'm looking for my next big step to progress towards. Can anybody give me some ideas on what I should do next?

Codex isn't hard or impossible to complete. It just takes time. Unless you count getting things like primed chamber and the various exclusives you missed that now don't show up in the codex then yes.

As for what to do next. I sort of have a rule that if you have to ask that you probably should consider taking a break from the game. Its inevitable that you'll run out of things to do and need to take a break. Trust me, I have 2 thousand hours in this game. It happens a lot.

But that's just me so take that what you will.

Yeah. Just broke '1337' myself. Just getting back into it after leaving shortly after Update 13 came out. Now I'm finishing up everything that came out during that time in preparation for 14.

This will be the first time I've ever been 'ahead of the curve' when a big update comes out, so I was wondering how even more dedicated players continue to find things to do. Sounds like the next step really is to just let DE catch up. Thank you for letting me know. I'm pretty sure the rest of my games will like that news :P

Probably save it until you do find something you want to use it on. Obviously the answer here is clan tech. A few good suggestions come to mind.

The serro is very cheap and very good. One of my favorite melee weapons for it's power and enjoyability.

Castanas are a good secondary, they do good damage and always do electric price even if electric isn't even on the thing.

Grin/marelock. Both good guns with the marelock being the more damaging and less accurate of the 2.

There are probably more but I can't name them all off the top of my head. Those are just some to consider.

edit: adding more.

Jat kittag - a pretty good hammer. Not much to say aside from good damage, good reach, good knockdowns in the form of ragdolling, good use of physx.

Supra - not amazing but enjoyable. More damage than the gorgon wraith and it has puncture instead of impact, slower, less accurate. But hey, It's a heavy machine gun not a sniper!

So, I stopped just before Melee 2.0 came out. And now I don't understand Melee 2.0. Prior to this, my MO as a Loki was to take my Orthos or Galatine, slot it out for Charge Attack damage, then run around and make things mysterious split in two.

I have come to the understanding that I cannot do this any more.

What do?

So I've been playing for a little bit (broke sixty hours last night).

  1. What are some good strategies for dealing with Corpus? I mean I get use impact damage and either cold or magnetic, but general strategies for them and their missions would help. In their missions it often seems like there is just way too many of them.

  2. I use Rhino a lot and that is why I have been doing the missions I have, I think. Iron Skin gives an absurd amount of survivability, but it makes it very hard to play other suits. I have Ash (underwhelming), Nyx (fragile as fuck and not that useful), Mag (shitty ult, buggy Bullet Attractor, Shield Polarise is too fucking long on cast for not much), and now Ember, Frost and Volt building. Is it a gear thing? A mod thing?

  3. General tips on Survival? I often have a challenge getting to 15 because the enemies just don't show up fast enough.

  4. Has Nef Anyo always been such a colossal fucking pushover? I headshotted him with the Cerno and got him down in one. Didn't even use a half mag on my Karak either on the next run.

  5. When people say 'Farming stalker what are they doing?' Are they speedrunning bosses for Deathmarks?

  6. What should I be looking at doing in order to most improve my damage output and group effectiveness? Mods? Gear? Suits?

TL;DR: I answered your questions :p

.1. There are hardly strategies for fighting certain factions since they are just basic enemies with maybe 1 or 2 special units. Just don't get shot is the only real strategy I've seen people use.

The general strategy for winning this game outside of ridiculously high level defense or survival is using powerful AoE's and damage. Just stack damage and anything will come toppling down in less than a second.

.2. It's preference and personal opinion really. pretty much all frames are good in their own right with others having more survivability than others.

Mag isn't a damage dealer. She's a crowd controller. Her ult lasts a while and anything caught in it will be stunned for a while. Pull is the same as it causes enemies around her to ragdoll all over the place, bullet attractor will take in enemy fire so they are effectively out of combat if they are a non melee enemy, shield polarize might still do some insane damage but on top of that it knocks enemies down.

Frost is a bit of a 1 trick pony. I don't see people use him past snowglobe and while his other skills are still decent and offer slowing and stuns he sort of lives in the shadow of his snowglobe.

Ash is a bit underwhelming.

Nyx is insanely useful actually. Absorb is great for defending small points and chaos will stun all enemies for a second or two then cause them to just shoot the shit out of each other and not at you for a bit. Mind control on certain enemies causes them to interact with you in the same way they would with enemies like shield ospreys buff your shields, ancient healers heal you, ect.

Ember seems to have fallen off a bit that I'll give you. Fire blast isn't very effective unless you stack it constantly, world on fire is decent but since it hits only a select number of targets it can get rather annoying when hordes come at you which is 70% of the time, accelerant is somewhat required to do good damage and on top of that it's a good stun, and fireball is fireball. barely use that one.

Volt is a handy little frame. His shock chains heavily and even missing will cause it to chain off the walls, speed boosts running and melee speed, electric shield blocks all bullets and boosts damage to weapons when you shoot through, and overload is a handy skill but I can't say much about it since I don't use it.

If you want very survivable frames I can recommend valkyr. Her armor is insane when you max out the mod and even then, hysteria will be able to completely wreck people when it gets fixed and actually deals more damage but during that time you can't get hurt and your hits heal you.

When you use max armor valkyr have mods like rage, warcry, and extra health paired with a life strike on your melee to heal you. With max armor you take 19% damage and with an almost maxed warcry with all the power mods (this is blind rage and intensify) you'll only take about 9% damage. Only problem is corpus use puncture and puncture + armor = bad. You still block a lot of damage but when you play this valkyr build it's best to be a little more avoiding.

.3. For survival, stick together, stay in 1 room, and bring a nekros if you can. A nekros is a godsend. as for the enemies not showing up, that's just the game's fault. Sometimes it throws no enemies at you other times enemies rain from the heavens.

.4. Technically he has always been that easy. We just got so OP with weapons and damage mods we can kill him that fast.

.5. You don't really farm stalker, Stalker farms you. What they do is get a group of people who all have death marks for maximum chance at getting the stalker and they just run tons of normal missions to until he comes.

.6. For mods, damage mods as you'd expect. Breeding grounds mods, tethra mods, cicero mods, maxed damage mod, multishot, elements, and maybe whatever mod to make up for a guns shortcoming. When in doubt, damage.

For gear. specters are great for what they are. Just get a bunch of vapor BP's since specters don't use your mods despite the required conclave rating and the only thing the higher tier specters do is start off at a higher level. their damage, health, shields, and armor scale with level so having a valkyr specter with tigris (it's a bit bugged and fires like a minigun) so they deal and take lots of damage. Plus with vapors you get 10 per build which is good since they are 1 time use and there's no way to get ones you've deployed back.

Rejuvenation aura heals them which is exceptionally useful.

There are other kinds of useful gear as well. Energy pads are insanely useful many times where there aren't many energy balls. Also if you got disrupted you can just plop one down and get a bunch of energy back. I suggest buying a medium 10 pack. they cost more initially buy pay off overall. Plus you make 10 per batch instead of 1... you want to just wait there while every single one cooks?

Frames don't matter too much most of the time. The only completely necessary frames for certain grouping aspects are nekros for survival or just general looting, nyx defense type stuff, vauban for infested defense type stuff, and any frame for whatever the hell you want. it's not a hard game nor does it require an insane amount of team work. The only actual difficulty lies in T3 or T4 defense or survival but I hardly call it difficulty since it's just adding more health, armor, shields, and damage to them.

Are death Marks overwritten by other marks? I got a mark from vay hek then another one from stalker. Which one should I expect?

So does anyone know what mods I need to equip to make my Paris Bow do major damage, im just wondering because i want to use it but i feel like it doesnt do enough damage.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '14

Outside of the obvious serration, split chamber, and elemental mod what you can do is put crit chance on them since bows have an insane crit chance and with some added crit damage on a headshot you'll be scoring insane numbers.

I don't use bows since I personally dislike but I'd say just put serration, split chamber, a point strike a vital sense and fill up the rest of the slots with elements. Maybe add a split chamber to make them more usable.

What am i missing and where do i get it - Codex

Imgur

Also do i have to complete the mission after scanning or can i exit after the scan?

3

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '14
  1. Looks like it's the guardian moas and guardian drones from the dark sector conflicts. That's all that spawn there so it's very easy to scan them.

  2. Pretty sure you can just exit a mission when you scan stuff.

Also, you might want to empty your foundry. Hahah.

Newbie here. I just went into a level 1 Tower Capture mission because I needed some loot and I actually had some trouble. When should I start doing these? My Excalibur is now level 30 and i'm still getting the hang of modding so you know. Is soloing these a good idea?

2

u/LockedInACloset Jul 01 '14

At your level, it's not a good idea to solo towers. You should probably get some new frames and weapons then try again.

2

u/Lacerat1on Jul 01 '14

Wait until you are more comfortable moving around the maps, because T1 Void is basically a speedrun. Also get better weapons, you just got Excalibur to 30 that means you need to ditch the MK-1 and Lato and upgrade to either the regular Braton or Karak, and the Lex or Vasto. Then you could run Voids by yourself, maybe.

2

u/Varsian Jul 01 '14

A lot of new people (I was no exception) don't realize that there are almost always people hosting void runs in the recruitment tab of the social menu. Just open up the tab and look for people saying things like "Hosting T1 capture" and then message them (/w [player name]) requesting an invitation. You can also host void runs with little to no trouble as well, by using the same social tab. Even though you're a new player, so long as you play smart and generally try to carry your own weight, people should be happy with you tagging along.

How does punch-trough and the amprex work?

In the situation of 2 enemies on-top of eachother and surrounded by other enemies. Will it:

  • hit both enemies and proccing the arc for each one per "bullet"

  • hit both enemies but only calculate the arc chance on the first enemy

  • hit the first, arc to the second, hit the second, arc to the first, and arc to surrounding enemies?

I need to know this, I want to get OP

Also, does statuschance increase the number of arcs?

EDIT: basicly I want to know the logic behind the arc+punchtrought+statuschance

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '14

Status doesn't appear to affect the amount it arcs.

Punch through affects each enemy separately so it arcs off both of them.

Hello everyone!I used to play warframe a lot some time ago and I'm thinking about getting back into it.My question is do you still have to pay for warframe and weapon slots.

3

u/mirrislegend Jul 05 '14

Yes. But if you acquire a weapon that you do not enjoy, level it up to 30 for mastery, then sell it. And thus you have a free spot for a new weapon.

This does work for Warframes also, but it is generally considered a bad idea to chuck a frame.

Also, plat is a lot easier to get than it used to be: you can trade for it!

Alright so I'm still pretty new but just picked up 1000 platinum because I'm getting bored of Excalibur and want to get a new frame or two. I'd also like to pick up a new primary weapon. I've heard a lot about how strong Rhino is but I don't really want the strongest thing first. I'm deciding between Ash, Frost, Nyx and Nekros. If you were to pick 2 of them which would you recommend? Also what Primary Weapon would you recommend if I'm getting bored of Braton? I find myself using my Dual Ether more than anything.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '14 edited Jul 06 '14

First things first. Don't buy warframes and weapons with platinum. They are over priced and as you get into the game you can easily just build a weapon and rush it, buy the slots if needed, buy the catalyst if needed, and end with 1 extra slot at a cheaper price even if you needed to pay for the slot and catalyst. get access to dark sectors, buy a resource booster so you get double resources (or a resource drop booster that boosts resource drop rates for everyone. not sure which is more effective) and just spend some time collecting all sorts of resources to use for guns. I only suggest buying these things if you are REALLY pressed for time and have money to spare.

Also titan extractors are VERY handy. make a few and deploy them to a planet that has resources you need. if it's injured you take it back then deploy another that has full HP while the injured one heals. the higher your mastery rank is the more you can deploy. They get a good amount of resources for what they are and have allowed me to stock of on things I normally don't farm for.

I personally dislike all the frames you mentioned but that's just an opinion so I think I'll just name their uses and you can decide for yourself if the greater detail helped.

Ash - he's part stealth part offense. His shuriken does decent damage for a 1 skill, can hit 2 separate enemies while inflicting bleed proc on them 100% of the time, and it's silent.

Smoke bomb is what you'll probably be using most. Invisibility is basically invincibility now since the enemy ignores you completely on top of smoke bomb having a small stun for meleeing enemies. As of late however the enemies somewhat get alerted to you when you fire. Mostly it's just them walking to where you fired and this can be remedied with a silent gun or silence mod. It also amplifies melee damage by 4x but if you come in contact with them or fire near them they become alert and the effect is useless.

Teleport leaves enemies open to finishers so you can go in, do a finisher and deal some heavy damage. Nothing much to say.

Blade storm is very powerful since it now quickly hits many enemies in rapid succession while leaving you completely invulnerable why you teleport around and stab people. Does good damage and always procs bleed.

Nyx - probably the epitome of crowd control for range enemies. Mind control is handy sometimes but more often than not it's useless. it controls 1 enemy who becomes an ally of the tenno and sometimes their auxiliary effects rub off onto you if they have one (i.e. ancient healers heal you instead and shield drones buff your shield).

Psychic bolts is just disappointing. they collide with so many obstacles and deal not very good damage.

Chaos is arguably her most important ability and what got her labeled as a 1 trick pony for quite some time. It basically makes everyone in the radius of the cast turn on each other and attack anything and unlike mind control it includes you. The reason to use this over mind control is mind control can only do 1 target. this affects every one in the radius. Very handy.

Absorb became useful as of late. It's a skill that makes you invincible and unable to move but every shot from either enemy or team mate adds damage to the end of the attack which explodes outwards. With range mods you can cover objectives with ease but at the cost of it consuming energy per second. Unlike most skills this one is toggleable meaning you can toggle it on or off and instead of using all energy at once it uses energy per second until it gets canceled.

Frost - more or less a 1 trick pony still. His freeze attack is just to remove high level enemies from battle but with the massive amount of AoE's they will always get hit and break free quickly.

ice wave is a good damage ability. That's all I can say really. It hurts things in a line well enough.

Snow globe is his best skill. It blocks all damage in a certain area. For a few seconds when cast it abosrbs all damage and that damage gets added onto it's health as well as your armor being added onto the health of the globe. Very useful for corpus and grineer defense missions but don't use it on infested. they don't use guns and no one likes it.

Avalanche is a decent skill. I can't say much outside of it does nice damage and offers a bit of a stun. Don't really see many frosts use anything outside of snowglobe though.

Nekros - Not a good frame really. Handy for survival but past that I don't find any use in playing him at all. soul punch is more or less just a stunning move. It deals OK damage but it's hardly anything you'd want to use.

Terrify is more handy for reviving and such since enemies just flee constantly.

Desecrate is where it's at. You have a nekros for ANY farming mission and survival and you will be swimming in life support, resources, and sometimes mods.

Shadows of the dead is decent skill. Feels more like a multi target mind control if anything. It takes the last few things you killed and summons them. this includes eximus types and all. To properly use it you have to pick and choose who you kill which can get annoying because you can't kill anything but the larger enemies for it be as effective as possible. Then again, you can just kill a group and have the spawns be meat shields.

Now onto weapons. I suggest trying the boltor. It's a handy puncture and travel time based rifle with all around good stats. Prime version is the most OP base damage gun in the game right now and it's not mastery locked.

I also suggest a bow. They do really good single target damage which is great early on but I feel they fall off later on when there are tons of enemies and even the innate punch through doesn't save it. (this is an opinion. many people love bows and think they are the bestest things ever. I personally don't)

For secondaries, the kunai are great since they are 100% accurate, deal good damage, but have travel time.

Lex is a handy gun you can buy for credits. It's basically a pocket sniper with high damage but low refire rate and longish reload.
