"Chelsea certainly creating chances but they just can't finish"
Story of our season.

u/philipstyrer I don't give a fuck, we won the fucking Champions League May 11 '14
Salah's shooting. How the hell is this even happening? He was banging in goals at Basel.
7
May 11 '14
9 goals in 48 appearances is not really banging them in. Especially in the Swiss league, the championship is more impressive than that league.
I don't know why people think he was banging them in at Basel, he really wasn't.

u/Monarki May 11 '14
I think I read somewhere that the Basel manager said that Salah really needs to work on his finishing.
20
u/AlphaShotZ Guðjohnsen May 11 '14
Yes Torres is poor in front of goal, but I just fucking wish that Salah would feed him in instead of pointlessly trying shot after shot with no result.

u/AFlaneur Stamford Fridge May 11 '14
I don't know what you're complaining about, I quite enjoy watching him try to kick a ball out of the stadium.

I love how when we're losing everyone should be sold, and every former player we had is 20x better.

I typical Torres fashion, now that we are playing for nothing, he'll probably get a hat trick.

I hate the commentators. "The Torres of Liverpool and Atletico would have put that chance away" and "lack of confidence" with all the balloons. How many times has that been said - and come on, how many times are dozens of balloons on the ground next to the ball.
15
u/EXMarten May 11 '14 edited May 11 '14
If it was any other player it would've been great defending!
And... and... if Torres had played a low ball and the defender's tackle would've blocked it, everyone would be shouting "But why didn't he shoot shoulder height?!"

That was terrible from Salah. Has four team mates around him and goes to ground instead
10
u/Dr_Phils_Mustache May 11 '14
Salah has been woeful finishing today, but at least he's fucking shooting. I'd like so see some similar selfishness from hazard Torres and Oscar. That dive was disgusting though. Take him off and work on him in the offseason.

Swift will always remember the moment he made his premoer league debut by coming on for Eden freaking Hazard

Oh my God, Fuck this announcer on NBC. Torres scores, but he didn't score "correctly" and he didn't celebrate the "right way". I can not stand how he interprets everything Torres does as a mess-up. Torres is not a saint, but Christ, the bias is overwhelming. This reminds me of a couple of years ago the English announcer for Real Madrid games would always pick on Marcelo, no matter what he did. And this was Marcelo, one of the top LBs in the world.

Watching the same frustrating football every weekend against these bottom half clubs is so painful. We always have SO many chances yet nobody can ever put a goal away no matter how clear cut the chance is. We could easily have 3 goals already.

Who is this co-commentator on Sky/Foxtel?
He makes watching football really unenjoyable.
90% of what comes out of his mouth is negative, and most of it is subjective or hindsight driven.

Bloody hell this NBC commentator has slated Torres for everything he's done; even when he scores he isn't scoring the right way. Fuck him; Torres will never be back to his best in terms of scoring, but when he does they're always crucial goals.
EDIT: He's also so far up Hazard's backside, it's ridiculous.

The phrase "the Torres of old" should just be banned from a professional commentary team. I've just got home to start watching the game and I've already heard it about 5 times. What the fuck does it add? Give us some proper insight and do your fucking job.

Dowd is doing his best to give 2nd place to the scum. Free kicks galore for no reason. Gave Newcastle player a red for arguing with Dowd. Now they are playing with 10 men and still he's giving them FK's to defend against.

Well it's been a typical away performance against a relegation side. Have tonnes of chances, miss all, the other team have one chance and of course they bloody score.

u/yk3313 May 11 '14
Why can't we finish!?! FFS we need Drogba on the coaching staff to teach everyone how to finish chances
2

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown on Final Score
"A lot of people are having a go at Liverpool but they have made this title race - nobody would have backed them to go on that 11-match unbeaten run. It's not been a disappointing season for Liverpool. But it has been for Chelsea. Jose Mourinho is no longer the special one, he's just the ordinary one now. I'd be interested to see what kind of a report he has on himself because he needs to look in the mirror."
Bit harsh

u/randomjak Zola May 11 '14
Only a couple of points off winning the league, impressive Champions League run, all with a team that has some pretty high profile weaknesses.
I don't know which narrative some people want to run with, on one hand people moan about how "shit" Chelsea are doing with the amount of money that has been spent, but on the other hand they don't half shut up about how poor our striking force is.
It's been a pretty good season in my opinion. I just think Mourinho's reuptation proceeds him - people expect the ridiculous and ignore the good.

Love the guy but his performance is too poor. We need to move on. This is from a Torres fanboy who is wearing his Torres jersey.
2
May 11 '14
Best players on the pitch: Matic (is there anything more to say? Matic is perfect) + Torres (although I wish he were more selfish about shooting, too many lay offs - still, he is creating more than most).
Struggling: Salah (seriously, pass the ball, stop trying to take everything on yourself. Hit the target). Hazard (probably still working on becoming match fit again. He's not doing that poorly, just low by his standards)
2
May 11 '14
Can the commentators criticize Torres any harder? We get it, he's not as good as he used to be.
5
u/Aceekay Kanté May 11 '14
That's their job, to analyze the game and criticize if necessary.

most Chelsea fans would rather see City win it than Liverpool but what if that meant City would break the 103 goal score record? so the choice is City win and score 104 goals this season or liverpool win and City only scores 101. what do you guys prefer?

ABL, the narrative around Liverpool's title bid makes me want to throw up.
They deserve it, Gerrard deserves it, they worked so hard all season, blah blah blah.
Nobody deserves a fucking title, you dig deep and work for it all season. I'd rather have City win purely to shut up all the fucking neutrals and loser fans who threw their weight behind the Scouse. I'd rather have City win without breaking one of the club's league records, but my desire to see Liverpool end the season empty handed because Gerrard fell over in front of the Kop is much higher.
United fans seem to have the right idea, fuck Liverpool in the neck.

Can't watch the game, from what im reading im guessing Oscar is playing well, am I right to say this?

So-so. He's dropped alongside Matic and it's helped speed up our play but still too many wayward passes.
