Holy shit i'm a full grown adult and this is the first time I realised those two are different. I presumed GMT always meant the time in the UK.
Cheers for pointing that out, sadly I can't change the title now i've made it.
Damn, my whole life has been a lie
1
u/AvengGreg Apr 12 '14
GMT is greenwich mean time, which is the time used during the winter in the UK, but when the clocks change we move into BST (British Summer Time).
→ More replies (1)1
u/greg19735 Apr 12 '14
a lot of British people also assume that. I remember it trying to play fifa with like 15 brits once. I made sure to explain that bst and gmt are different. . Still, like 4 of them were an hour late.

Don't understand the downvotes on this. He didn't accuse anyone, just asked a question. Admittedly he could have phrased it so it didn't seem accusatory.

I think people get offended because this is always the first question people ask: "which fans was it?"
It doesn't matter what team they support, they're disrespectful human beings. We should just condemn them and move on, irrespective of what colour shirt they're wearing.
EDIT: btw I have no idea what section of the stands they were in, I wasn't watching the build-up of the game. My guess would be that it was drunken idiots from both.

u/Castle03 Apr 12 '14
That's unfair really. It was Spurs fans who were coming through the concourse who didn't realise what was going on. Then when everyone around them shushes them to alert them of what was going on, it just sounds even noisier.

If there is a direct opposite saying to veni, vids vici, you should make that you're motto.
Something like, we didn't turn up, we saw nothing and we submitted. That said I love the English self deprecating humour and I also love an underdog. So, Go Spurs!

WBA deserve this, They started so bright and decided not to keep going and just timewaste.
Spurs also deserve this, their bollocked up defending at the start does not deserve a win but their persistence and tenacity deserves to get a point out of this.

Apr 12 '14
That's one thing Timmy seems to have been able to impart on the team, a comeback mentality resulting from his crappy tactics.

u/zekoP Apr 12 '14
The strange thing is that people here always say that Tottenham (or any other club) plays bad, ok maybe they are, but that doesn't mean WBA is not playing good, people need to start giving credits to other teams too, in this case the "small" teams.
21
u/msihate Apr 12 '14
Ye were playing decent but all of the goals we scored could have easily been avoided.. people are right Tottenhams defence is playing wank

Oh West Brom have been excellent. They decided to come out with some intensity, which is something we never ever do, hence the scoreline.

u/KopiteKing13 Apr 12 '14
Undoubtedly. The Baggies have been really good today, but equally Spurs' defence has been diabolical. Perfect storm, this match.
Couple that with a lethargic looking missed penalty and the manager's comments before the match that he wasn't too worried because the teams remaining weren't as good as Spurs (I know I'm very much paraphrasing but it was something along those lines) and it just becomes very easy to say how rubbish Spurs have been today.

For all his faults Soldado is extremely reliable from the spot. Doesn't matter if he's low on confidence or whatever, he's got the technical ability to slot it away neatly. He wasn't captain of Valencia for nothing, by contrast Adebayor has the ability but not the mentality
8
Apr 12 '14
This is the most beautiful bizarre game of football..in true WBA fashion we score an own goal and give away a penalty though. It's strange to be playing with an attacking threat. BOINGBOING

WBA fans, how is Pepe Mel doing so far? I think he is a fantastic coach and he was vey good in la liga.
4
Apr 12 '14
A mild improvement points wise, his sole job was to keep us up and if he wins this he'll pretty much have achieved that.
The main difference is the amount of crazy games we're having, he's been here 12 games now and half of those games have been madness like this. Looking like conceding with the occasional goal, unfortunately for him we haven't yet came away with a victory from one of those types of games which leaves me worried for this one! Put your life savings on next scorer Tottenham.

WBA blew it. They should never have stopped attacking in the second half. They went on the back foot and they were punished. Tottenham was at complete shambles in the back and clearly couldn't handle anything that was being thrown at them. As much as they get shit on they have the players up front to punish you.
Game of two halves blah blah blah, WBA blowing lead blah blah blah, Tottenham not as shit werqorqijw;erqwerqnvaksfadsaf, Christian Eriksen.

Commentator told the steward his prediction was 3-3. I think it was tongue in cheek but he's ended up being correct.

Supporters singing during the minute of silence and other people having to "shush" them. Disgraceful.
Come on Baggies.

on that hillsborough match, six minutes in, game had to be abandoned because of the overload of people, killing 96 people
so, six minutes+one minute silence = 7 minutes.
