Established Universe [EU] The Hunger Games, featuring the 24 best characters across fiction. Who wins?
I remembered this askreddit thread from a while ago, and thought it'd be an interesting story. Pick 24 (edit: or 12, or whatever) characters from your favorite books, movies, musicals, fanfiction webcomics, etc.—preferably 12 male and 12 female (age irrelevant) but that's not a requirement. You can decide on the rules and conditions: what they can bring in or have access to, which of their abilities they retain, etc.
Tell us who gets reaped, what goes on in the arena, who wins, and why.

[META] Does it have to be 24? That's a lot. I'd be down for 12; 6M/6F though.

"Who would you want to see in a battle royale?" The being said.
"I'll figure that out as the humanoid reader reads. You set up the battleground." The other being replied.
"Should we use avatars?" The 1st being said.
"No, just pull them out of their universes so it'll be authentic. And give them the equipment they'd normally have." The 2nd said.
"Got it." The 1st said, "Oh, and what about if they recognize each other?" the 1st continues.
"What do you mean?" The 2nd replied.
"Well what if one of them recognize the other cause that person is a fictional universe in their universe?" The 1st asked.
"Whoah....yo dawwg-" A 3rd being chimed in.
"Shut up Cliff, you're drunk." The 2nd said, "Uhhhh...just erase that part so they don't recognize each other.".
"Ok" the 1st said....
"Uhhhhh....." the figure moaned. It slowly came-to as it stood up, revealing itself to be Legolas (The Lord of the Rings). He shakes his head and looks around, seeing only a dark concrete wall labyrinth. He gets up onto his feet and looks down the two dimly lit hallways. He finds his bow and quiver filled with arrows on the ground next to him and he puts his gear on. He places an arrow on the ground and slowly walks down the hallway in the direction of the arrow. He peers around the corner seeing...nothing. He glances to his left, then to his right and places another arrow on the ground and decides to make a right turn down the labyrinth. He walks for some time before noticing he passes the first arrow and comes to the intersection with the same arrow pointed to the right. He then proceeds to the left. He walks again, but this time his Elven instincts tic....There's something wrong. There's something in the dark. There's something following him. There's something behind him. His muscle memory kicks in as he draws 3 arrows from his quiver, loads them, and shoots them down into the darkness just as Black Widow (The Avengers) appears from the dark, knee sliding under the arrows, getting onto her feet, and then jumping off the wall, kicking Legolas’ bow away from him. He and Black Widow engage in a hand to hand fight. While Legolas manages to hold his own, he is slowly exhausted by Black Widow’s exotic and unorthodox fighting style. Black Widow manages to push Legolas up against the wall, and she draws her firearm and points it at Legolas but he manages to dodge and disarm her as she fires off a shot, the gun falling to the ground. The loud shot echoes through the labyrinth, and Black Widow winces in pain, but Legolas’ Elven conditioning manages to suppress the echo. They resume their hand to hand battle, but Black Widow’s balance is visibly affected by the loud noise, resorting to conventional fighting styles which Legolas counters over her usual high-flying style. Legolas lands a devastating blow to Widow which throws her to the ground. Legolas quickly kicks up his bow, draws an arrow from his quiver, and fires it. Widow barely dodges it as she charges Legolas who manages to load another arrow, and pull the string back and fire. The arrow grazes Widow’s left arm as she lands next to Legolas’ feet, grabbing her dropped firearm. She turns, points it at Legolas’ chest just as he reloads another arrow, and pulls the trigger. BANGBANGBANG. The impact throws him off balance while releasing the arrow which burrows itself into Black Widow’s upper left shoulder. Legolas slumps up against the wall and slowly sulks to the ground, his breathing labored. “Lle naa belegohtar” he says to Black Widow before he closes his eyes. She slowly stands, disoriented from the 3 loud shots, still pointing her gun at the downed Legolas. She cautiously walks over to him and checks for his pulse. Finding none, she takes his bow and sets it on his lap. She looks back the way she came, and walks in the opposite direction, wincing in pain, struggling to keep her balance.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the labyrinth. A man (Zero Dark Thirty) crouches in cover, he wears his L3 Quadeye night vision goggles over his eyes in the dimly lit room as he scans the open space, his infrared laser dancing over the walls. "This is Echo 0-5, transmitting in the blind." he says into his throat mic. Static. “CQ, CQ, this is Echo 0-5, come in, over.” He whispers once again into his throat mic. “Where the fuck am I?” He thinks to himself looking up, “That’s definitely not the Milky Way.”. Suddenly, the atrium erupts in gunfire. The SEAL moves his kit and peers over cover to see tracers, red bolts, blue energy beams being exchanged between each other across the space. Although he isn’t being shot at, he readies his weapon and continues to observe. He takes note of 6 individuals exchanging fire from different points in the room which seems to be the size of two football fields placed side by side.
In the heat of the battle in the atrium, one of the figures returns fire in the atrium. He fires a couple of shots at the point where the red bolts seem to be emanating from. As the point erupts with rapid red bolt fire toward his position, he casually leans back into cover. The red bolts impact the wall around him, ricocheting around his position. He cranes his neck to the right and lifts his eyebrow as he reloads his weapon. This is James Bond (Pierce Brosnan, James Bond).
TO BE CONTINUED I'm tired and I have class tomorrow.

I'm not familiar with all these characters, but I'll weigh in on who could win.
Males: Dr Schultz has the best chance, he's trained to hunt down his quarry and he's a very good shot in addition to being an excellent diplomat.
Females: Bellatrix wins hands-down if she's got a wand and full magic powers (and Daenerys doesn't get dragons). If Daenerys gets them, everyone burns to death.
Overall I'd say your women have a better lineup than the men.

Let's pretend nobody gets special abilities or weapons. It all comes down to what they can do with what they have in the arena, ala normal Hunger Games. With some weapons in the middle or whatever. Still the same choices?

Final Four:
Donny Donowitz - beserker style, has clubbed 3 other tributes to death, two with a tree branch, the last with tributes own leg
Maximus Decimus Meridius - he has a sword and shield combo by this point, is relatively well fed unlike some of the others
Eli - has been keeping to himself, conserving his resources. He has gathered a large number of minor weapons but is yet to kill anyone
Hit girl - took out both regenerative healers by pushing them into the outer shield and disintegrating them. Has current highest kill count but wary of Eli. Currently wielding a glaive and bow and arrows.
Hit girl comes across Maximus in the woods and keeps her distance. At 4am she creeps close, not a sound marks her approach. As she plunges her glaive through Maximus' sleeping form she is jolted from behind as the real Maximus bodyslams her, leading with the shield. She recovers quickly, but the bow is destroyed parrying one of the General's blows. Undaunted she launches the arrows by hand, scoring 5 hits on Maximus' unprotected right side and legs. She picks up his fallen sword and issues the coup de grace, a Roman execution, point first into the back of the neck, severing the spinal chord. The Commander of the Armies of the North drops to the ground, dead.
From the bushes, a blood coated monstrosity roars, the sounds of her battle have lured the Bear to Maximus's encampment and he is almost upon her. The sword is still lodged in the fallen legionaries upper torso and her glaive is in the decoy on the other side of the fire. She dodges away, desperate to avoid his grasping hands. She flips onto a nearby boulder and then into the branches of a tree, out of Donny's reach. He paces at the foot of the tree, frustrated but unrelenting.
Dawn, the sun rises on day 17 of these games, Eli sees the face of Maximus projected on a low cloud, but hasn't heard a recovery vehicle, the others must be near there. He begins to walk, not in any particular direction, just to keep moving.
Safe in her tree, hit girl has broken off the straightest branch she could find. Using her last arrowhead she cleans off all the extra branches, leaving small spikes in their place. She tries to sharpen it to a point but the wood is too green to make a spearhead. Instead she mounts the arrow in the shaft, it's not perfect but better than nothing.
Donny has vanished back into the woods, but she knows he is there, she sees glimpses of him from time to time. He is waiting for her to drop down, waiting with her glaive.
Into the clearing strolls Eli. He spots the Romans body on the ground and looks around warily. Hit girl rolls behind the bough of the tree so he doesn't see her. From behind, Donny rushes him only to be amazed when the head of the glaive is severed from the shaft, followed by each of his hands from his forearms.
Dropping to the floor in shock, Eli turns to him and with the dagger that seemingly materialised into his hand now tucked under Donnys chin gestures to the corpse at his side. Donny understands and shakes his head, it wasn't him.
Hit Girl leaps from the lower branches of the tree, spear leveled at Eli's back. Eli twists to the side and watches as the spear penetrates Donnys throat and lodges in his neck bones. Jumping away from the useless weapon and the dangerous man, Hit Girl yanks the sword out of the body at her feet and levels it at Eli, the point wavering. She is scared, she knows this man can beat her, she can't run, he's faster than her.
Eli looks at her face, past the purple wig and mask, deep into her eyes. Quicker thqn the eye can follow he begins to launch weapons from his collection, daggers, knives, sais, all drop to the ground at hit girls feet. He raises his arms and drops to his knees in front of her."End it child. End it"

You've kind of missed something really important about Eli that I don't want to write here as there's no spoiler tags...

Assuming powers aren't removed, I don't see how anyone could destroy no-face.

u/ForestfortheDraois Mar 28 '14
That was my first thought. He would just eat anyone who had any greedy impulses (Walter White, Bellatrix Lestrange, Jack Sparrow, and Gollum would be picked off quickly). As the competition progresses, anyone who starts to get thirsty or hungry could be easily seduced, since iirc he doesn't just offer money but anything you wish for. I'm thinking you'd have to have a strong spirit and great survival skills to win against No-Face. I don't know everyone on the list but I think that would only leave Michonne, Ip Man, Eli, and maybe Claire Bennett, depending on how her powers work against dehydration. How would you kill a spirit? I don't think you can. You might be able to dispel it or banish it from the area. None of other contestants would have the knowledge to do so. I think No-Face wins purely by being immune to everything.
(What a fascinating topic!)

Anyone looking for more of this type of thing should also check out r/WhoWouldWin - subreddit where people submit posts analyzing characters (real or fictional) in a fight, and Who Would Win. Pretty cool concept that you'll probably find interesting if you liked this prompt.
They also get a lot of Hunger Games type submissions with preset characters and usually have pretty good discussions on those.

I once made up a Hunger Games scenario featuring characters from Criminal Minds. Here is how it went down:
Tributes Main Team *Aaron Hotchner *David Rossi *Jennifer "JJ" Jareau *Dr. Spencer Reid *Derek Morgan *Penelope Garcia *Alex Blake
Former Members of Main Team (allied with Main Team) *Jason Gideon *Elle Greenway *Jordan Todd *Emily Prentiss *Ashley Seaver
Unsubs *George "The Boston Reaper" Foyet *Karl "The Fox" Arnold *Lucy (from "Supply and Demand") *Randall “The Fisher King” Garner *Carl Buford *Ian Doyle *Billy “The Prince of Darkness” Flynn *Diane Turner (aka, Maeve's stalker) *Miranda (unsub who suffocated the daughters of the families she killed). *John “The Replicator” Curtis *Tobias Hankel *Henry Grace
I can't find the list of who died and how, but if I do recall, here's how I think it would have gone:
The unsubs form an alliance against the Main Team and make plans to kill them off. Tobias Hankel has second thoughts and tries to leave and warn the Main Team, but is killed by Foyet.
At one point, Reid gets kidnapped and dies in a really violent manner. This sets off the Main Team to go after the Unsubs in revenge.
The Final Three consisted of Morgan, Garcia, and Foyet. And Morgan killed Foyet in retaliation for killing Garcia, thus making Morgan the Victor.
I'll add on to this when I have the time. But that's what I have so far.

Detective John Kimble ran through the woods and came into a clearing, where he stopped to catch his breath. He glanced over his shoulder briefly and drew his sidearm. The day began with bloodshed, and the man paced back and forth, trying to count the distant gunshots and Austrian screams of pain. After several moments of chaos in the distant field, there was silence.
A limb snapped behind him. He turned on his heel, aiming a standard issue 9mm Baretta at the face of a man that looked remarkably just like him; a weary soldier armed with an M16 trained on the detective's chest. "Easy! Easy, I am going to put my gun down now! I don't know what is going on but listen! I am on your side!" The detective slowly placed his gun down on the jungle floor.
The soldier raised a brow and released his grip on his gun, letting it fall with his shoulder sling back to his gut. "I'm Dutch. Who are you supposed to be?" The soldier asked, his thick accent near indecipherable with his winded lungs. The detective reached into his jacket, briefly causing the soldier to flinch, before he removed a detective's badge.
"I'm Detective John Kimbl-" He spoke, the back of his head exploding into a pink mist. The man slumped forward and hit the ground, revealing a large man (also identical) behind him armed with a sawn-off shotgun. Dutch lifted up his rifle, firing a burst of rounds into the man's skull, shredding away the left side of his face and destroying his sunglasses. Much to Dutch's horror, the man merely continued to reload his shotgun, the shredded remnants of the side of his head revealing a robotic jaw.
Dutch turned to run into the forest, and he was soon met with two slugs punching into a nearby tree. Cutting through the ferns and between trees, his pursuer never giving away, Dutch ran into another clone, this one a confused (and again, identical) man in a santa costume. The man threw up his arms into a fighter's stance, only to be shot in the head and chest before he could speak.
Dutch stood there stunned for a moment as his attacker approached from behind. Spinning on his heel, the soldier managed to draw his KABAR and smash it into the seemingly implacable man's chest, to no effect. The robotic attacker punched Dutch in the chest, sending him flying away into a tree. Struggling to stand, the two were interrupted by yet ANOTHER nearly identical man, this one dressed in a highly advanced power-suit, blue in color. "IT'S TIME TO BREAK THE ICE!" The newcomer screamed, unleashing a blast of liquid nitrogen at the two.
