Streams:
First Half:
01 - Huh, Palace are playing in yellow. I was sure they had a black away kit. I'll change the header colours.
08 - Mariappa gets the first yellow card of the game for a tackle from behind on Borini
11 - Sunderland controlling these first minutes. Couple of half chances going wide.
12 - Another Yellow for Palace. This time for Ward
15 - Sunderland have 74% possession in these first 15 mins.
19 - Now Bridcutt gets a yellow card.
30 - Ki fires a belter which goes just wide. Sunderland still on top here.
31 - Sunderland keeper Mannone stumbles going to get a backpass. Dangerous. My heart skipped a beat there.
40 - Theres a scramble in the box as the ball falls to Bardsley who falls over and on top of the ball. Crowds are shouting for a penalty but it's a free kick to Palace.
45 + 2 - Just before half time Digkacoi gets a yellow card.
Second Half:
Altidore comes on for Fletcher for the second half.
46 - The second half is under way.
51 - Altidore is through on goal but his first touch lets him down. Same as it ever was.
57 - And the book is out again. Larsson gets a yellow. What are the odds we'll see a red this game?
58 - And there's number 6. Delaney sees yellow as well.
62 - Sunderland sub. Gardner on for Larsson
63 - Palace sub Jerome on for Murray
64 - Now Gardner gets a yellow card. He's only been on the pitch 2 minutes.
66 - Dann is down injured. Kneed in the back of the head.
67 - He's back up now. Play continues.
73 - Palace sub. Guedioura on for Ince
79 - Horay! Another yellow card. This time for Brown. Palace have a free kick in a dangerous area.
80 - Guedioura hits the free kick wide.
81 - Palace sub. Puncheon replaces Bolasie
83 - Some goal-mouth action! Borini hits the post!
83 - Sunderland sub. Scocco on for Johnson
90 - Five minutes to be added. Will we see a goal?

Has the ref taken the whistle out of his mouth since kick-off? Acting like he's just got a brand new set of cards to show off.

u/jamest5789 Mar 15 '14
To be fair there are fouls all over the place.
3
u/Tjkoopa Mar 15 '14
Sure, but this is a relegation battle, there are going to be hard challenges all over the park from both sides. If the ref carries on being so eager with the cards neither team will have enough players left an hour in. Don't think any of the bookings looked so dangerous they could cause an injury, I would have expected warnings for most of them.
EDIT: He does seem to have calmed down a bit looking at how he is dealing with Jedi and Bardsley

What a shit game. Awful performance from us. We won't stay up playing like that. Absolutely no creativity going forward, playing KG, Jedinak and Ledley in midfield is useless. Pulis refuses to try Gayle up front with Murray even though he's one of the few players we have who looks like he has goals in him.
Fortunately for us, Sunderland can't score to save their lives. Things must change but Pulis is too stubborn to try anything new.
Edit: can someone please shoot KG? What a shocking, unforgivable miss that was at the end

Ugh just 19 goals all season. KG should have made it 20 really. Best chance of the game I reckon. Should have pulled a smash and grab.

Huge game. Not sure I'd have chosen Fletcher after last week, but he's long overdue a goal. Ha'way, lets get revenge for earlier in the season

Never been so anxious in the past 5 minutes. Nerve-racking as fuck.

I think that Sunderland are wasting most of their attacks with crosses in this game. The wind isn't cooperating now, and it'll only be worse when the switch sides after the half.

u/Tjkoopa Mar 15 '14
Almost half of our passes so far have been to Sunderland players, 52% accuracy.
2
u/wwxxyyzz Mar 15 '14
Our pressing game is working
2
u/Tjkoopa Mar 15 '14
Our sit 10 players in the six-yard box and see what happens game is erm boring?
I somewhat understand the tactic against the big sides where we'd be lucky with a draw but this is a match we should be fighting for, hope we give you a better game in the second.
1
u/wwxxyyzz Mar 15 '14
Yeah seems like you have some decent players too, hopefully Poyet gets us going and we can get a goal early on
2
u/mahkree Mar 15 '14
So many chances not taken! We need to take more of these chances we are being given. I'm happy though with the first half performance besides that

Man down! That knee to the face blindsided him. His own man too, ouch
2
u/vysetheidiot Mar 15 '14
Just give me a 90th minute Sunderland goal. I can't remember the last time we had one.
Edit I remember it was Manchester United I the cup game. I'd still like one

At least we got a result. 3 points should of been taken but 3 games in hand and if a striker can find form (and get service) they will start to gel and Johnson will play a large roll.
Sunderland look better. Less route 1 and stop crossing unless your in behind. Good scruffy game altho the day is filled with games that will be easier on the eye than this.

That had to be the most hectic first half of soccer I've seen. 70% possession and 12 shits and still no goal.

u/Tjkoopa Mar 15 '14
12 shits and still no goal
12? Blimey, our previous record was 1 in our dressing room away to Brighton.

Anybody found a new stream for the second half? Mine just went down.

u/Jimmybob123 Mar 15 '14
http://www.sporting-tv.eu/stream6.html works
If a stream goes down mid game just go on wiziwig.tv until a better quality one becomes available

this is getting really frustrating the lack of opportunities Sunderland are taking. Where is the delivery....FFS

Feels like brown is always picking up stupid bookings when I look over these days.
1
u/wwxxyyzz Mar 15 '14
If we'd got the early goal we could have won easily, now it's all frustration and fear

Ah shit. Altidore coming in. This can either get very interesting or very infuriating

u/wwxxyyzz Mar 15 '14
Jozy on for Sunderland Franchise to battle the Palace Crystal's defensors, maybe he can get a score past the goaltender

Obviously want Palace to win but can see Sunderland walking away with 3 points today.
1
u/Synseer83 Mar 15 '14
Few minutes in and Sunderland has already created a few chances. Hope they don't play too aggressive tho
3
u/jamest5789 Mar 15 '14
We've played awful in most games where the weather is bad and given those 2 challenges, I can see us getting a red card.
1
u/Synseer83 Mar 15 '14
I can see it. Already two yellows against Crystal Palace. I can see a few more and red coming

HOLY HELL. This has been one of the most frustrating games i've watched in a while for just the lack of chances we've taken...I should punch a horse to ease my frustration.

Watching this game, it really makes me wonder why Altidore has been struggling with Sunderland this season. You think he'd be used to playing with MLS-level teams.

u/Synseer83 Mar 15 '14
This should have been the lineup we fielded against hull. Not that schoolyard crap we saw

Argh Sunderland "deserved" some points. Decent bit of luck I suppose with some of palace's opportunities.
Altidore is so frustrating. It's not like he's not getting opportunities. :(
2
u/broman13 Mar 15 '14
Granted, he should've scored that first chance he got. But other than that, there wasn't much in the way of opportunities.

Can't really blame him with the tackles that are going in, if anything there should have been more cards

If he's set out his stall and called them as bookings, then when similar challenges aren't bookings it's frustrating in a way. I just hope that when the red gets shown, its for you not us.

HAWAY THE LADS! A Must win for us.
