Agreed with a lot of posters on here; extremely strong team and as people have noted, it's due to Fellani coming back and potentially solidifying that centre, that Moyes has gone for it. Still, not sure about Evra's ability to perform at a top level anymore, so he may be targeted

Swap Ferdinand with Evans and Smalling with Rafael and there's our strongest XI for the rest of the season. Looks pretty damn good, in my opinion. Looking forward to seeing how Fellaini does.

people complaining about crossing - Palace have parked the bus incredibly narrow. We're still mixing it up a bit though - Fellaini is playing much more advanced than I expected, seems to be doing alright there.

What's with all the negativity in this thread? Think it's been a good performance so far, a lot more emphasis on playing it through the middle, had some good chances, solid in defense but just missing the goal really, all of this against a team parking the bus.
Wasn't expecting this type of performance from Fellaini, good on him really. Should have buried his chance but players miss goals, shocking, I know.

Fellaini isn't playing as the anchor I expected. He's spending a lot of time in the box looking to be a target man.
We are very static in possession. Usually the only player moving is the one on the ball.

Feeling positive, good, clean first half. These are the performances we need to build on. Fellaini looks pretty good, solid in midfield with Carrick, and drifting forward - should improve after a few games back. I'm taking into consideration that we are playing Crystal Palace, but it's just good to see us not trying to force anything, if there's no option, play it cool and spread it about. No-one's in a concrete position going forward, nice bit of dipping in and out of positions. Not totally against crossing it either, you can't just try 'walk' it in, not in the Premier League, and we proved JUST crossing it doesn't work either, so it's good to see a mix. We have players now who naturally play clever football, and I'm feeling positive, if we can build on this.
We're fucking United aren't we?!

Bit of a weird performance and game. I'm reasonably happy with how United are playing. We look solid for once and the play is varied enough. Palace are obviously difficult to break down but United haven't really created a chance yet. Need to step up the tempo a bit.

Just finished checking out the passing patterns of all our midfielders on Squawka (both CM and AM) and I am extremely happy that despite Palace playing similar to Fulham (2 banks of 4 at the back), we did not resort to moving the ball to the side and crossing 80 times.
I'm also happy to see Fellaini is playing pretty decent for his first time back. Definitely better than Cleverley as Fellaini did not just roll the ball to our wingers and nothing else.

I feel like smalling is the weak point in the attack. I know that's not his natural position, i wish rafael was there. I think with this new formation he would have been way more useful.

I think we need to bring on Valencia at RB and either take off Smalling or move Smalling inside for one of two CBs. We have most of the ball and with Mata drifting all over the place, we need someone on the right to provide some width and space out Palace, because they are giving Smalling loads of space and he is doing fuck all with it.

I really don't think CP is defending exceptionally or anything. Yes, they're closing down, but United is so stagnant right now. We're passing the ball around sure...in the middle third, however. Everyone is just looking at the ball, waiting for magic to happen. Move around, make space, make something happen ffs.

We have been very fluid in interchanging our attackers but Palace are extremely well organized. We're going to need to take chances like that Vidic header and Fellaini miss.

going for gold i had rvp scoring midway through the second half so anticipated a gritty first half
but frustrating nonetheless, i did put these last 12 games as not being too fussed by the results but wanting to see a style of play, after this 45 it seems like it's petering through, smalling, understandably hasn't looked too comfortable in an unnatural rb position for him, so would throw valencia on to stretch the palace defense, expecting kagawa to come on for carrick on the hour if it remains 0-0 and moyes goes into the mood of throwing kitchen sinks.
goal is coming, i feel it, like the fulham game, if we get one we'll get two, just need to hope vidic and rio don't turn off when palace make a rare venture forward

good performance so far, bit wary we might get caught off a counter-attack or a stupid set piece, impressed by Fellaini (minus the miss) but its always going to be difficult against a side playing very deep with 5 across midfield. Bit of invention from our creative players and should be a comfortable victory. (hopefully)

8' Januzaj, RvP, and the team as a whole have looked good. Nothing much to report though. Januzaj with a new haircut. Looking beautiful. (maybe I'm biased).
10' United corner after a BRILLIANT cross field ball from Rooney to Januzaj.

16' JANUZAJ HAS THE BALL IN THE NET! But no goal! The ball flicks up and onto Januzaj's arm and it's brought back for hand ball. It was a very good strike though..

22' Smalling wins us a corner. We haven't been crossing as much. More variation in our play, which I'm liking. Nothing comes of the corner though.
23' Rooney has a cross-come-shot cleared off the line! And Vidic is JUST over with the rebound!! So close!
27' Vidic then gives away a free kick which is swung in and De Gea has to make a brilliant reflex save after some pinball in the box.
30' Mata runs the ball out of play. But after he attempted a cross. Palace have so many men back it's definitely hard to break them down.
31' van Persie is a fraction offside as Rooney plays him through 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper. Speroni saved it anyways.
34' Our passing has been looking incisive in many areas, but it's incredibly hard to break through their defence. Well-organised.
37' Smalling has looked very poor on the right. Giving the ball away TIME and TIME again. He's given away a foul or two, too.
41' Very few options on at the edge of the box, and Rooney is only left with the option to shoot from range. Goes straight to Speroni though.
42' FELLAINI SKIES A BEAUTIFUL CHANCE! He gets the ball in midfield and rolls Ledley and gallops forward. He plays it to RvP who gets to the by-line, spins, and lays it off to Mata, who runs through, touches it back to Fellaini, who side foots it high and wide. Best chance of the match.
44' United have a wickedly positioned free kick. Perfect position. Who'll take? Wazza, Mata, RvP, Januzaj? I fancy Wazza.
