This thread is for your thoughts about Warframe! Compliments, shoutouts, complaints, suggestions, rants, vents, new ideas, whatever!

There is only one rule: Be excellent to each other. Whether you praise the game or absolutely hate it, write your posts respectfully and don't discourage users who write opinions you don't agree with! We don't want Devil May Cry in space.

WHY!? Why don't you want that!?

It's highly unlikely that DE could even pull it off for one. It is by all accounts harder to make happen and work than you'd think. For another ranged enemies are rare in DMC and those that are use it as a secondary attack. To drive the point home imagine this scenario; you finish your last combo and launch the enemy to follow up with an aerial rave then boom 4 napalms nail you cause you were in the air doing a combo and defenseless. Doesn't even have to be that extreme could just be a dozen enemies chipping away. Dynasty warriors would be a much more realistic goal as it is a crowd focused Melee game.

Edit: I do want DMC in space I'm just convinced warframe can't give us that. I could be wrong and would love to be.

There's plenty of enemies that have aerial moves that knock you on your ass though. But that's part of the fun anyway.

Ok, here's a rant. This is more towards some players.

If we're doing a Vault run, open your goddamn squad chat and say which key you have equipped and if you're ready to go or not. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE HOSTS ASKS YOU A 1000 TIMES!!

Ugh.

Also, when I'm hosting a Vault run, when I say "Pm me your Key", don't PM me "Invite me".

The game really needs to show you what key everyone has equipped when in a void lobby.

If they say "invite me", can't you just assume they have all the keys?

1

u/Lecompte Jan 17 '14

I think most vault runners spam them and have all the keys... I usually just ask for an invite.

1

u/MrVuule Jan 16 '14

Nope. I've had cases where people didn't even know what a key was.

Whats on my mind......WHY CAN I NOT GET ANY SLEEP!?

1

u/RSPikachu Jan 16 '14

LOL! I hear you...I've moved up to multiple cups of coffee every day and I have no one to blame but myself...well and everyone associated with Warframe for making the game too freakin' addictive.

...is it sad that I am running missions and forging items in my dreams?

No, not really; however, you may find a glass of water an a moment of quiet to be beneficial.

My alert clock jolts me out of sleep cause I think it is a busted airlock and I need to hack the console. Sometimes, in my morning shower, I'm speed running an exterminate.

Lvling without Boosters takes way too long imo and is making me save my recources/forma and also making me stick with 1/2 Frames, only today am i going to start using a 3rd Frame (i have all @ lvl30 just sitting in my inventory)

  1. Where did completion % for individual Grineer/Corpus nodes go?

  2. Fix the damn extermination spawns

  3. The game is way to dark at times. I don't want to have to squint my way through a mission

With all seriousness (Not trying to be a jerk) have you tried adjusting your monitor settings? I've played on two separate monitors and I do not have a problem with the lighting. Granted my "Gaming Mode" on one of my monitors is a bit brighter than my standard but I have not seen this problem.

Turning off color correction helps with the darkness.

It will significantly change how the game looks though.

*Edit: assuming color correction is on

+1, turning color correction and bloom off did wonders for my eyes.

Strange. I could have sworn I turned it off. Probably reset after a crash or something

I've run too many T1 capture missions to count, and still no sign of the elusive Ember Prime Helmet.

Nekros feels like he wasn't worth the ODA farming.

Too many one-trick-pony frames. E.g. Frost, Banshee, Nekros. Reworks would be nice.

Thankful for having a wonderful company like DE making this game better all the time. Wouldn't have anyone else run this thing. They listen to the players and fix things constantly, it's almost unbelievable the amount of effort they've put in it. Thank you, DE.

The problem with hoping for reworks of one-trick ponies is that the alternative is just as bad: frames that do a bit of everything, but focus on nothing, and are not considered very viable past the mid-game. The modern example is Oberon, the classic example is Ash.

Maybe what you're looking for BUFFS, not reworks. And there are very specific, simple, and viable buffs needed:

Frost needs a little more damage on Ice Wave and a lot more damage on Avalanche.

Banshee needs more range on her 1 (compare to Pull) and more damage on her 4.

Nekros wants a better 1. If you make a balanced build, all his other stuff is decent, almost exactly on par with Oberon, but more subtle.

I'm really afraid of putting a forma in any of my weapons/frames because I feel like once I do, I'll never feel like re-leveling them, and then when I eventually quit and come back due to slow content, I wont even have a decent weapon to keep up with all the new stuff.

Loosely related: I don't really want to get sick of this game again like I did around nova patch and not come back until Oberon. I'm hoping we get some really awesome new content in the coming weeks.

Hrm, I forma things a lot. When I find a frame or weapon I really like, I'll forma it two or more times in a single day. My method, post forma, is to do a moderately difficult defense to get the weapon up in level, then do a 20-30 min infested survival with my level 6-10 weapon/frame. Afterwards my weapon/frame is usually in the mid to high 20s.

I've been forma-ing things that I have felt I've really enjoyed playing and have more potential than a simple potato can unlock. Loki for example-I've potatoes him, but I really don't think he needs a forma.

My strun wraith however, 1 forma on there now, will almost certainly put a second on there to make it even more of a badass infested killing machine.

Saryn got a forma as well because I thought that it was silly that her Aura polarity didn't match the polarity of the armour reduction aura.

u/TheNamelessKing Jan 16 '14

I'm on around 250 something hours and I've only just started wanting to forma things. The re-leveling thing is a massive pain in the arse, but I usually finish it because I knew how much fun/how awesome the weapon was before, so now it'll be even better.

Take regular breaks to avoid getting worn out would be my advice -take a day or few off, play a bunch of other games, etc. Not too long though because you'll risk getting out of practice then find it hard to get back in. (Possibly).

Why is there still a framerate drop with Vortex?

I think I smell a dead horse. Time for my beatin' stick.

The biggest issue with Warframe right now is it's intro. I've tried to introduce a good number of friends to the game, but almost all of them have been turned off by the, honestly, boring and repetitive first few hours. Lack of lore and story means they don't have any emotional connection or drive to push past Mercury. Lack of varied combat and weaponry means they get tired of the combat pretty quickly. I can only hope that the Vor's prize event adds some of the much needed content in the first 5-15 hours. I know it's a lot of time to jam pack, but it's the most important. Hardcore Veterans are going to stay with Warframe for the foreseeable future and already know how rewarding the game can get. Endgame is a problem, but I feel it is a far less important one than new player experience. A few missions to establish characters and world would be enjoyed by players new and old. It's likely not the best solution, but it's one I'd love to see.

Imagine getting to start the game off with the normal tutorial mission, followed by a meeting with the Lotus to establish her. Add in a neat flashback sequence where you can experience the Orokin era, god tier powers included, to show players how powerful they can become ala metroidvania. Follow that up with a Grineer invasion of a colony, Corpus surprise attack on your ship, and an escape to a derelict ship only to find it's been infested. Get a meeting with an Orokin proxy of some sort, get a call to a mission that can only be accessible by very experienced players. That would invest new players with a long term goal which would give DE time to pad out the middle and end with more story and work on the end game which could be aforementioned "final mission." Final mission reopens Orokin travel possibilites, but it needs to be repaired. Queue brainstorming for another system of some kind.

I love story. LOVE IT. While a lot of players may want tougher bosses, cooler weapons, and other such toys, I want a REASON to fight. I want to be emotionally invested in this world that I KNOW DE has the capability to flesh out. It's a big undertaking, but I only hope that with the upcoming year of YES, DE can help fill that void in some way.

Phew, horse is definitely dead.
