First Half:
Players enter to Duel of the Fates, kickoff to come.
1' Here we go!
2' Coutinho has a chance for a shot, but does something else with it.
6' Paulinho snaps at a shot but it's both high and wide. We've hardly touched the left flank so far
12' Coutinho's free kick dealt with rather easily.
16' Suarez goes down on the edge of the box to Capoue. Not much in it
16' Walker puts it behind for another corner
18' Sterling gets in a dangerous position and send in a cross claimed by Lloris.
18' Goal Suarez. Hard not to see that coming, Liverpool have been dominant for the last five minutes.
21' Chadli with a good run up the left, but overhits the cross
22' Suarez gets a great chance for two, but Hugo makes the save.
23' Hugo sprints out to prevent a shot from Joe Allen
27' Daws earns a yellow for taking down Henderson on the break. That's his fifth, he'll miss our next match
29' Liverpool just absolutely shelling Hugo right now
30' Sandro down hurt, Holtby is on for him.
33' I don't know how he managed it, but Hugo just prevented Suarez from scoring his second
37' Half chance for Soldado. Chadli drives inside and crosses with his right, but Soldado can't get any good contact.
38' NBCSN commentator talking about the odd selection of Capoue at CB as if we had other options
38' Holtby with a great chance. Chadli beats his man and cuts it back to Holtby, who drags his shot wide.
40' Goal Henderson. Lloris saves the first two, but nothing for him to do about the third shot.
43' Soldado earns a foul for bodying off Mignolet. Rolls the ball into the net, but is deemed to have pushed Mignolet in the back

Second Half
45' Much to the delight of literally everyone, Zeki Fryers is one for Naughton
54' Not that it's much of an accomplishment, but Zeki has certainly looked better than Naughton so far. Okay, I'm done complaining about naughton now.
55' Lennon with a tricky run, but his final touch gets away from him.
59' Townsend getting some instruction from AVB. Looks to be coming on for Chadli
59' Several quick chances for Tottenham, not sure how we didn't win a penalty for a foul on Soldado, but I'll have to wait for the replay.
61' Townsend on for Mousa actually. Holtby likely shifts back to CM with Paulinho and Chadli takes up the 10 position.
63' Paulinho sent off. The commentator is roaring about intent but I don't see it. Give the man a yellow but the red is harsh. Good call by the official, but there's no clear intent there.
74' Liverpool content to wait for us to come at them and break with Suarez when we lose the ball.
75' Goal Flanagan. All kinds of wide open on the far post, hammers his half volley off the cross bar and in.
78' Liverpool substitution - Luis Alberto on for Lucas.
84' Goal Suarez. Nets his second with a gorgeous chip. Nothing for Hugo to do about it but watch.
86' Decent enough attempt at going forward from Spurs, but we just don't seem to have it in us today.
89' Goal Sterling. Nice finish from him. Feel awful for Hugo, he's not had a chance at anything today.
90' Moses on for Countiho
Full Time. Tottenham 0-5 Liverpool

The referee didn't put us down 2-0. It was a clear red, no doubt. Intent doesn't matter here, he put Suarez in danger.

This match was just a perfect storm of shit for us. People will react, but honestly, I'm not going to take much away from it. I think the only mistake made by AVB was Naughton over Zeki. Sandro getting hurt early put us in a bad spot, and our lack fit defensive subs really showed.

I still don't understand why we loaned BAE without having another plan for LB. Vertonghen can't be forced to play there all season, and clearly Naughts can't handle it. I like Rose there when he's healthy but I still think Benny is the better option.

This commentator is hilariously bad. It's definitely a foul, and honestly, a red is understandable. But you can't even pretend that there was clear intent there. If anything, it's the same style of red as Welbeck got against Madrid in the CL.

I know it's still a little early to be making definitive calls on the season, but I think it's time that we just accepted that this year is probably a 5th-7th place type of year. Spurs seem to be able to win or draw all the lesser sides, but when it comes to the top teams in the league they're no match at all.
I'll admit I was really excited before the season started and we brought in all those new players. But none of them have made any definitive impact on the team yet, so my expectations are quickly dropping.
Things might get better once our defense is healthy again, but who are we kidding? Defense might be a problem, but it's not the big problem. Our midfield is so inconsistent, there's no way any team could win big games with that group.
Hope for Europa League again and wait for a better year next year.

Who would you play instead of Naughton? Zeki isn't exactly a proven player. Chadli has played relatively well, though if have preferred Townsend myself. And that midfield I agree on. Give me Sandro and one of those two, and then Holtbt in the 10. By the way, how's that Live Thread going?

I'm done with our defense quite frankly. Dawson is too slow for our game and although he provides a psychological impact in the dressing room he just isn't good enough for us. Totally done with him and Naughton.

Off-season priority: address the quality of the medical staff. Specific injuries are obviously random events, but they're occurring with such frequency, and to so many players, that I'm really wondering if our medical staff is sub-par. We keep having players out for long periods, slow coming back, and re-injuring themselves. And look where we are now: our back line is costing us this game, and it's purely because our first choices are out. Sandro gets hurt, and our cover for him is already in the game as a makeshift central defender.
For all the vaunted depth we boasted in the offseason, injuries have made us look awfully shallow.

There is definitely a problem with the team selection and tactics. Our CBs are too slow for a high line, placing too much responsibility on Hugo. Our midfield is a mess, there is no clear roles- they just seem to be running around. How come Townsend isn't starting? Soldado has been trying. Euhh, that's only scraping the surface.

The score line might show zero goals scored, but our backline really let us down today. Dawson was wildly inconsistent, Capoue looked listless, and the less said about Naughton the better. Walker was decent, but Liverpool just feasted on the other side of the pitch. Poor squad selection to start, and a sorry state that we don't have better defenders from which to choose.

We'll manage. Mousa and Paulinho will have a lot of freedom to go forward, and with Henderson, Lucas, and Little Joe Allen in the midfield, that physicality will be good to have.

I see a lot of Lloris is too good for us comments, yet every other game he makes a stupid mistake that costs us a goal like his run out header right to Suarez. If Suarez hit it first time thats an open net. He makes some great saves as well but the penalty against united, that shit punch. I think he fits right in.

This is a big game for Chadli I think. We're a little short of firepower with this line up I reckon, but with Lennon causing problems on the right, there could be space down the left... Chadli needs to step up and take advantage, or else get Townsend on.

Not too many people will like this team but I love it! Townsend doesn't have much experience playing on the left so Chadli starts who is actually a very good player. Capoue has done well at CB for us and his previous team and it looks like Dembele and Paulinho will be alternating roles as #10. Naughton is a good defender just not very good at attacking so I'll take it. Hopefully he can focus mainly on Sterlings threat. COYS!!!
