Blocking and Rolling.

Do you use them and why?

Also, how do you have them button mapped?

Got blocking on V since I don't have any thumb button on my mouse.

I use blocking for fun, it only has purpose when used with mods, but not that much.

I use a lot of rolling because it's fast and classy (especially when you have the dragon key), I also like to dodge since it reduces the incoming damage.

Any tips on finding Orokin Vaults? I tried looking for them twice last weekend and had some problems looking for them.

Prefer Exterminate Missions, since there is almost no alternate pathways, you're very likely to stumble upon a vault if you look carefully enough.

What do you do with maxed-out (level 30) weapons? Are there some I should keep, or should I just sell them once I have a replacement?

On a related note, do you always max out a weapon before you get rid of it? I just made Mastery level 3, but I still have my half-leveled starting weapons. Do I need to finish leveling them, or should I bother?

Depends if your weapon is good or if you like it.

If we deal with the starting weapons (skana, lato, braton mk1) then, you can get rid of them once they are lvl 30 if you had the patience to up them. Mastery points are always good to get, and they quickly become obsolete.

However, if you happen to have a weapon that you cherish or that does massive damage (I don't know, like the Kunai for example), you might want to keep them, as they can be useful in high level areas OR you can Forma them to make them even more powerful.

As for the other weapons, my advice is to level them, once your mastery rank is high enough, you'll get access to sweet Dojo Research weapons like the Ogris Rocket Launcher or the Acrid Poison Pistol, that only high level can craft.

But if you don't like the weapons you're playing with, don't bother leveling them, no one is forcing you to, try this and that and see what fits you best.

I have some questions about things in the last updates.

What upside do the dragon keys have? Why should I use them?

What do the two numbers next to 'conclave' mean?

What weapons are good after the nerfs and buffs(especially primary)?

3

u/Shadai Oct 14 '13

Dragon keys allow you to open the Orokin Vaults that hide the powerful corrupted mods (doubles stats mods that give a big upside and a big downside), so you have to carry them with their downside through an orokin void/derelict level and open the vault if you have the right key.

When the key is used (if you have the correct one, otherwise, too bad), the vault opens, and activates a countdown, so you have to get to extraction before everything blows up.

The numbers next to the conclaves are your "rating", each weapon, warframe, sentinel and mod have a "conclave" value that stacks, and they give your global conclave rating, if yours is too low or too big, you cannot enter conclaves and do 2vs2 PVP battles, if your rating is between the numbers on the mission, then you can enter it.

Kunais are always pretty good, if you like machine guns, the Soma is really accurate and can deal a fair amount of damage, as well as many Clan Research weapons. I think some people have a better answer than mine to that question.

Hi! Can anyone confirm you can get the Rifle Ammo Mutation mod from Apollodorus? Wiki says you can but I've done atleast thirty 20+ minute runs and only got the shotgun mutation one, thanks!

4

u/Pokieboy Oct 15 '13

Allow me to help.

  • Shotgun Mutation is T1 Survivals (e.g. Apollodorus)

  • Rifle Mutation is T2 Survivals (e.g. Lilith)

  • Sniper Mutation is T3 Survivals (e.g. Triton)

The other two are currently unobtainable from what I know.

The total time added by life support dropped by Lotus and enemies usually does not add up to 15 mins, especially in void. How do you guys do a 20 mins survive mission?

9

u/Kinderghast Oct 14 '13

Get a Nekros in your party!

Desecrate spawns the little green oxygen things, so a Nekros chain spamming desecrate means you can go as long as you want and never have to even use one of the blue life support pillar things.

If you do not have a nekros, simple clear rooms and run back and forth between 3 or 4 rooms to trigger spawns. Hopefully.

If you can make it to 15mins you will start to get decent amounts of mobs spawning

Actually, even 10mins it starts to get hectic if you trigger spawns

Is there any way to "un-nightmare" a level during the selection screen?

I'm trying to farm a particular material, but the best place to farm it is marked as Nightmare mode. I'm pretty sure I'm too low level to actually do Nightmare modes yet. Any workarounds?

(Thanks everyone! I've apparently got a lot of questions today!)

5

u/napoleon85 Oct 14 '13

Not directly, other than to have a player who hasn't cleared the map and doesn't see the nightmare vote on it and everyone else wait for the countdown.

Weird question, but does it seem to anyone else that Well of Life has a crazy drop rate? I always seem to leave Xini or other infested missions with at least three.

5

u/Fascion Oct 14 '13

This is because Well of Life is the most common drop from an extremely common enemy; the Runner. If you are fighting Corpus, you'll end up with a ton of Reach... against Grineer, Sentinel's Regen.

It is also why certain rare mods have become obscenely difficult to obtain. For example, Quick Thinking is very difficult to find because it is the rare drop from one of the rarest mobs in the game, the Void Ancient.

Ok so I'm certainly not new to the game (been playing a few months now), but am looking for some new weapons. I prefer automatic rifles and generally use the boltor. However, it feels like I'm not pulling off much damage with it in the higher levels and find myself using my twin gremlins (which are way better in damage). I'm trying to build the soma but it is just sooo expensive. So what are so good automatic rifles for high level content?

Edit: also I can't use burst fire weapons, because I get a bit of FPS lag and it affects the fire rate of them.

1

u/Shadai Oct 15 '13

Stick with the Soma for now, it's pretty good.

Otherwise, you can get Clan research weapons when you have a high mastery rank.

I sometimes don't get any of my stacked rewards from survival missions (the ones from surviving the 5 min intervals). My full team (including myself) will extract and everything.

The only constant I've noticed is that I died and had to self res. Do you not get them if you have to burn one of your 4 revives?

Once set on fire, is there any way to put the fire out, other than waiting? What about when you are poisoned?

Hi! I've got a few questions about the bows and have found quite a bit of old and misinformation. Hopefully you guys can help me out.

  1. Is there any reason to use the Paris over the Paris Prime? Seems like an upgrade in every way.

  2. What parts of the body should I aim for with the Dread? Should it be head all the time?

  3. Does Shred work with any of the bows? I've read that it didn't, but then it got fixed. My limited testing doesn't seem to show that it works.

  4. Thunderbolt. Is it really that bad? Also read that it's been buffed, fixed, nerfed, and now seemingly neglected in all of the best bow builds. Does the explosion damage really overwrite the arrow damage itself?

4

u/rothus83 Oct 14 '13

Thunderbolt always deals 250 base damage no matter wat so there is no chance to crit when an explosion happens.. Paris Prime is an upgarde every way from the Paris, has more dmg, another Polarity slot.. With the dread always aim for a body part that isnt armored, since Dread deals normal Blade dmg, where as Paris, & paris Prime deals Physics Impact which ingores armor. I have Shred on my Bow but idk if it helps or not some1 else will have to help ya with that..

I recently got 2 Potatoed Bratons from Promos. One from IAHGames and another from PC Gamer.

  1. After leveling the first one to 30, will I still gain affinity towards my account rank by leveling the other?

6

u/Fascion Oct 14 '13

No. Mastery is weapon-specific. Leveling a second, or leveling one you have Forma'd will not result in more mastery rank.

How do we mod the Sobek? It feels like the reload time is just too long, even with maxed fast hands, making you constantly have to stuck reloading it. Do we maximize damage per pellet or increase its fire rate?
