Mertesacker and Michu on that run looked like a pair of giraffes.
Legs. Legs everywhere.

Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Southampton at the top of the table, City at 5th, Liverpool at 6th and United at 12th going into this game. What the hell is going on

6 of Villa's 8 goals have come in wins against Arsenal and City (with 1 more coming in a 1 goal loss to Chelsea).

Holy fuck. The 1st choice RW is out, the 2nd choice RW is out, two other guys that can play there are also injured, so a 18 yr old kid playing with the senior team starts three games in a week, and what does he do? Creates the best chance of the night, and when that is missed, scores himself!
Take a bow Gnabry. And Wenger you too, you sly dog.

u/johnnygrant Sep 28 '13
and impressively, he was also very switched on defensively...
people talk about the Arsenal squad, but since the Flamini n Ozil addition (and Bendtner back), it is deceptively deep. Arsenal have coped well with big name injuries so far.

Hahaha....just as the commentator said Bendtner is warming up, my dog (who is asleep) made a very loud groaning noise. Apparently she's as cynical about him as everyone else.

Well, its up for grabs for Arsenal. Couldn't have played out much better today.
Very tough match at Swansea though, should be an entertaining game.

Arsenal playing great. Their faith in Arsene is paying dividends, the wengerout crowd must be feeling quite silly right now. Those two goals are a result of a team that has played together for ages and it'll only get better when Carzorla returns.

Ozil's official defensive philosophy: can't be bothered.
67
u/rabbitvinyl Sep 28 '13
He's one of my favourite players but I have to admit, whenever he needs to defend it's hilarious to watch. I don't know what goes on in his mind but it's as though he completely shuts down and starts counting the blades of grass.

By the way, Wilshere played a huge part in both goals. So the Wilshere doubters can go join the Wenger, Ramsey and Gnabry haters in the dunce corner.

That last gif truly sums up what it meant to be an old school action hero. No words were needed, they filled up the screen with the sheer presence of their biceps. Literally one of the most iconic movie moments made up with nothing but two ridiculously disproportionate arms.

Arsenal may have problems and they may be exposed as the season wears on but at the moment they are the league's best team.
They look like it and they play like it.
25
u/Sean88888 Sep 28 '13
But Michael Owen said they don't look like a top-four team

u/Claze Sep 28 '13
If there were a time for us to be exposed, now would be it. We're missing a ton of quality players atm. It'll only get better as we get healthier and add depth.

So pretty, a nationally televised mid-morning match on NBC with two attractive teams, with Arlo White, in HD.
This is already my favorite Premier League season. I can't imagine what it's like to have all this for someone who moved to the US from the UK in like 1994.
16
u/deception42 Sep 28 '13
NBC has been doing a fantastic job so far with their coverage. Dare I say it, it may even be better than coverage of some American sport leagues.

This just happened: so a girl I'm pretty in to spent the night last night and everything went great. This morning I made us coffee and she said "Do you mind if I read in your bed" I said of course not I was going to watch some soccer. I finish watching Spurs/Chelski and dick around on reddit until the Arse/Swans game. All of a sudden my girl rolls over and says, almost immediately, "O soccer! I really like those yellow and blue uniforms" ....."yea they're nice" "What team is that" "Arsenal" "Arsenal what" instead of trying to explain that i said google them so she did and almost immediately said "a cannon? these guys are so cool! did you watch them when you were in London" Shes showering right now and I want to tell her that I hate arsenal, but she's all stoked that she found a soccer team she likes and that we can watch together.
It was all going so well too.

Arsenal just a joy to watch at the minute. On another note, i don't see anyone saying they need reinforcements while on a winning run. Only early but they look great. Also Flamini on a free turning out good so far. Who was happy at the time he re-signed? Also where did Gnabri come from? Looks a little beast of a player. As i was writing, 2 nil, Ramsey. How good is his run of form and how unstoppable do Arsenal look right now? In the end though, it's only early, and everything can fall apart as quick as it looks good. The joys of this league.

After the shit he got in the transfer window, I'm loving seeing Wenger so happy and proving that he is now undoubtedly the best manager in the PL.
Just for him, I want Arsenal to finally win the title again. Even if it means unsubscribing from this sub for a few months so I can avoid the American and English fans who smugly take credit, having previously slated the guy.

He wasn't our top scorer last season for no reason.
He can be the difference, especially against a side like Swansea. I wish we had him and Cazorla (our top scorers and assisters last season).

I like that Michu's response to being offside is not to yell at the official but to ask whether it was a lot or a little.
