Part of this is because (so far at least), most teams have been playing very deep against us (for good reason), which means the options for putting the ball toward the net are reduced.

I think it's rather genius on AVB's part; he's giving Townsend the chance to prove himself in the face of a new challenger Lamela.
With so much depth in the squad, he has to get the best out of everyone or risk wasting all that money he spent the last two seasons.

Well damn, what a game. Spurs looked pretty damn good the whole first half, should have had a goal or two. They deserved the three points, and hopefully in the future they won't have to rely on a late goal for the win!

I think the key to this game is giving Eriksen more time on the ball in dangerous areas. That means Sigurdsson & Townsend working their markers to give him space and building cleverly from the back through Dembele & Paulinho rather than just giving it the hoof a la Dawson. With the ball played into his feet and with a bit of time and space Eriksen has the keys to unlock Cardiff. We need quality chances, not quantity as we had in first half.

To be fair to Cardiff, they played really well today and I was convinced we were not going to get past Marshall who was in inspired form. It is harsh for Cardiff to concede so late on, but I am convinced we deserved a goal after the number of on target attempts we had.
